Quick question, I know most of the boards have a 'No Politics' rule, but if a member of the Vegas Industry takes a political appointment or donates larges sums of money toward a certain cause to influence gaming regulation. Isn't that a Vegas news worthy item for discussion? Not so much of the I agree or disagree about a particular political viewpoint related to a political affiliation, but more of what type of effect will this have on casino industry regulation discussion.

I was recently censored on another board for what I considered an innocent fact of pointing out Steve Wynn's recent appointment to a political position.
While I am not wanting to start a Reddit or Facebook desent into political commentary, I think it warrants discussing about what changes his appointment will have on the industry and how people might feel about the correctness of him doing that as a Hotel operator, eg do you think it will have a financial impact on Wynn as an operator.

I was wondering if the same level of censorship exists here before I start a thread in Vegas News section.

Sticking with 'dinner party rules' of no discussion of politics has worked well for us so far so we'd like to continue that way.

That's kinda an ambiguous response, because "dinner party rules" is a catch phrase. Who's dinner party you talking about?
I get it, nobody want's any controversy or heated topics on message boards, Reddit has scared everyone away. I am disappointed that we only have Vegas related message boards that are heavy handed censorship or ones that condone anarchy in the threads. Everyone is afraid of promoting polite discourse on certain topics, because a couple of aholes get out of hand. Instead we get a form of Chinese censorship. I get it, this is not as much a community as it is a private entity with someone else paying the bills, so it's easier to avoid the hassle of sensitive subjects no matter if they are directly Vegas related.

    Still a supporter just disappointed..

I actually read that as a pass to swim...just no running and diving. I think you are overthinking it for yourself.

Really? I read it as a nice "I'd really rather you not.." What's really my point here anyway? I think any topic can be controversial and offensive. Example If I posted a article about problem gambling and inferred that people gambling over XX amount per year, really suffer from a compulsive gambling addiction, I am sure some people on this board would be offended. It would probably create a string of heated responses. My point is, I don't think as a community we should be afraid about discussing relevant Vegas topics even if they encroach into political spaces. I sure don't want to debate the ideological opinions of political parties or elected officials. I just want to be able to talk about all relevant Vegas news in a polite and thoughtful manner in at least one place online.

I feel like I am trapped in a Goldilocks story when it comes to Vegas message boards, one place is too hard and the other place is too soft. I always felt this place was just 'right" so to say. Just my humble opinion...

Personally, I just feel you would have been better off just posting the news you found, not making it a political issue...post it as a "gaming" issue...lol. By asking about it and then bringing this topic into the spotlight, you have now made the whole thing into a forum politics issue.

Well the story in question is Steve Wynn being appointed as RNC fundraising chairman and the topic touches on how a gaming operator serving in a political appointment may effect industry regulation. Also does the appointment create any issues as an casino hotel operator.

Anyway I got censored somewhere else, hence bringing it up. Anyway I am not going to start pissing people off here, I just think we shouldn't be afraid of hot topics IMHO. I decided to walk away from the other site as a matter of principle.

I never even knew there was a "code of conduct" before this thread got bumped into the new posts feed... I'm pretty indifferent, but for what it's worth, it seems like discussion of potential impact on casinos/gaming should be fair game.

More importantly though, I've seen a bunch of references recently to the general crapiness of Tapatalk... what is the alternative to accessing/posting from your phone though?

I hear ya, and it was considerate for you to bring it up, but sometimes I feel it's easier to post, then see if it's an issue...lol. Although, I don't really think I post debatable topics...except for my play.
