Florio is such a tool sometimes, esp with this piece. It's such a minor issue with the owners at this point, yet he's banging the drum like something needs to happen. I'm sure they'll figure out a solution - pretty hard to take a dive when there's 21 other players and 5 other refs on the field. And yes, talk about hypocrisy at its finest when betting lines are on your page, haha.

IMO they should be more worried about unregulated, online sports betting than anything that's happening in Vegas. The ONLY worry that I do see is for the teams and players themselves.

Vegas would be a mighty tempting place to live for a rookie who might have come from a poor background and suddenly finds himself with down-time in the off-season and with plenty of mad money in hand.

But then, so would Miami, Los Angeles, New York etc.

You can blow your money anywhere, doesn't have to be Vegas. I'm sure the league will address this with the players in some manner. A whole other story if the players listen or not.

The league has backed itself in a corner regarding any sort of gambling, legal or illegal. They say they're completely against it, but if they say regulate, they are admitting it's ok and they're hypocrites. If they continue to toe the company line, they're still at risk to games being compromised. No good solution for them.

Fantastic news. Only a shame we've got to wait two more seasons to see it as a reality. I think 2020 Super Bowl in Vegas sounds like a plan.

It's gonna be ugly in Oakland until the move. I'm betting they move next year instead of 2019 (too soon?)

2022 would be the earliest. 2018 thru 2021 are already committed (Minneapolis '18,, Atlanta '19, Miami '20 and Ĺos Angeles '21).

I've read that they have 1 year renewal options on their lease in Oakland that they plan to use. The new Las Vegas stadium is expected to be ready by the 2020 season. That leaves the team looking for a home for 2019. Mark Davis has ruled out Sam Boyd because of the antiquated locker rooms and the lack of a true security perimeter (a must have for NFL stadiums per the league) but I'm sure that could be fixed for a season if he played the "good corporate citizen" role and made a donation to his new "best friends" the UNLV athletic department.

The HUGE winner in this is UNLV. They will be playing in the new stadium also as a condition of the lease agreement. That was one of the requirements at the State Legislature that allowed the $750 Million hotel tax to pass.

I think "plan to use" and actually "using" the 1 year leases are two different animals. When the Browns left Cleveland, there was rioting and chaos. I can an envision a similar scenario happening in Oakland, and it might be worse since the Raiders are finally good again.

I know Sam Boyd is not the greatest option for them, but it will be their only choice once they move, regardless of when it is.

Not sure about this idea: The Las Vegas Sinners

Then again, I'm still mad they didn't call the hockey team the Vegas Nights

Second choice: The Over/Unders brought to you by William Hill.
