BS - Spring Fling 2017 Recap

Part 4 of 5… The End is near.



Went to bed at 5:43 AM VST and was up and ready to hit the pool at 8:39 AM. Ok, ok, ok… I really just wanted pics of the pool without anyone ruining my shots.











Worked out well though. I got a nice tour of the entire area and tipped the two front girls and security and asked that the take care of our crew. They were gracious and everyone said they had no issues.



















@MrsBS was taking her time getting down to the cabana so the first person I saw was actually @SDSteve. He was staying at the Bellagio, so he did not have the “required” room key to access the pool from the third floor escalator. He called me and I told him to just run over to the East Tower elevators and take them up to the fourth floor… Worked like a charm and he mentioned our name and Cabana 10.





Great location on the upper deck. The minimums down low were much higher and with this type of pool setting we settled for the lower “minimum” even though we figured we would spend a little more. Our minimum was $600 which turns to $780 with tax and auto gratuity. With all drinks, food, tax and tips (Cash included) our total came to $1,100. We split this between @SDSteve, @DirtyShirley, their friend M and me.

In the middle of the day the degen hit us and I went down and was able to capture an $800 winner…

Food was good, but overpriced as fuck, obviously.



Music sucked so we brought our own.



Saw these massive flotation devices... unreal.



We had a blast. Will do that again. We spent a lot of time relaxing dancing and drinking.



I left my wad of cash right out in the open, knowing I could trust these degens 100%. I assumed it was safer with them than with me on the way to the bathroom.

After the pool I went down to play some quick bacc. Sticking with my $500 wins cost me some money apparently, but a win is a win.

@MrsBS and I were in the room and both of us started to feel sick. We took a small nap, got ourselves together then decided we would head over to The B for the comeback to conclude itself.

















We go through the conservatory and look around





Then I go back and find a $50 min table in the main pit.

We wanted to go to Noodles for dinner, but the wait was longer than we wanted to wait… mistake.





We went to Bellagio Cafe. No one was there, Service was mediocre and the food was OK. We weren’t feeling well so that could have mattered, but we likely won’t be back. Too many good places in Vegas to not have a good meal every time.

After dinner I got hit in the face, in the bad way. Lost all doubles and was losing with 19s and 20s… That spells for a rough night. Luckily we only took $2k for the evening in an attempt to limit the loss incase I tilted…

Shortly after we went right back to the hotel and went right to sleep.

The End of our trip is next... I hate that it has to end, but luckily there's a happy ending.

 

Part 5 of 5 - The End

The last day started like all last days in Vegas, ready to go home, but wanting to savor the last few hours you have in the greatest city in the world.



Before we started going I had a $5k strap in the room. I contemplated licking my wounds, celebrating turning $1k into $7k into $5k. Not a bad comeback... I would take a $4k weekend win every time. The only downside I was in for $11k... (which was actually $12k). The contemplation took place for about 30 seconds then I decided I would go to Aria, play $500 base bets and live with the results.

@MrsBS and I pack up all of our shit and I make a call down to the bell desk as we are finishing up. Fucker made it upstairs in 5 minutes. I was shocked. "Uh, hey sorry, you were way faster than I anticipated, we are still finishing up packing." Nothing worse than waiting when you're ready to get out of the door, so we quickly finished up and gave him our four bags.

Bellman takes the bags down and we go enjoy some quiet time on the terrace after pounding a few Fijis and Pedialyte.



Then I tell @MrsBS my master plan. We are going to Aria. I'm going to play bigger than normal and we are going to win our money back. Without hesitation she said let's do it.

Historically, I get murdered at Aria... but so far this trip I had played two sessions and won two sessions. Take a nice walk over the back way.







Once in we scout out the main pit tables in search of a double deck table. None open... ok to HL we go.

Buy in $5k. Base bet $500. My fate will be settled quickly one way or the other. Initially there was another player at the table. I was going to sit first base. He decided he was gonna go get breakfast so I took over third base and started firing. Won my first four hands. Up a quick $2k. I was a little gunshy about pressing, initially. I go up to $1k on the next two hands lose both... damn. Battle back and forth then I start slipping. I lose some good doubles and all of a sudden I have $2500 in front of me. In the back of my mind I had considered quitting at $2k so I could take a small loss on the session and still have some cash when I go home. Luckily I never had to make that decision. I go on a tear. Turning that $2500 into $9k. Everything was working. It was amazing. Then I fire a $1k bet. A6 vs a dealer 5. Double down. Face down always. I like the face down so when they bust there's never a sweat and you get a little more excitement if they make a hand. Announce to the dealer and the pit we had been chatting with, win this it's time to go home. I would have been at $11k and at the time, in my mind even. Dealer had a four underneath and pulled a face card for a strong 19. Ok, ok, ok... all we need here is a 2 to tie, 3/4 to win... dealer did a very slow peel showing me the card... Ace. Fuck. Back to $7k.

Sent this to a few friends after a shoe had ended.



We end up winning a few more bets and BAM I'm at $11k. I've done it... I completed it. We chat for a minute and I say ok, it's done. We've done it. Then I slide $1k in the circle. I want a winning trip, DAMN IT! I had been running so good all day and for the last three days, really. I swear off any doubles or splits or anything. Not reaching just these two cards. Get a 14 vs a K and somehow turn it into 18... not enough to beat the dealers J underneath.

In the back of my head I know I am down $1k, but was content with it. I asked @MrsBS what she wanted for breakfast and we settled on SREB and French Toast from The Henry.

On the way in I spotted @bayoubengal snapping a pic of his almost royal flush... damn 9.



@SDSteve and @SuperPocky decided to stop by and say hi while we enjoyed our food.







I went to play with @SuperPocky.



We were both up quick, then were down... but after some good doubles and a plethora of BJs I cashed up $1k. NOW I was even for the trip. (So I thought…)



Decided to meet @bayoubengal over at the sports bar for some final gamble before our noon flight.

Lost at quarters. Lost at half dollars. Then hit this to cash up $31 on dollars.



Take a car to the airport and run into @DirtyShirley and Mr DS in the airport chat for a few minutes then head to our gate. Once there we upgraded and I was lucky enough to get the extended leg seating, again.

FINAL THOUGHTS



The meet and greets are always a great time. Thanks to @VegasMonkey, @VegasChic and @Aaron5 for their generosity and hospitality. It is so much fun to see old friends and make new ones. Damn near all of my trips are with some degen from the board or someone is in town at the same time. That is definitely the plus of the camaraderie of the board. I need to stop blacking out on the first night. If I am planning to drink I need to limit my access to cash and my CL. Live and learn, live and learn. I know I am not special in that department and their are plenty of degens here who have done all of that.



So that “extra $1k” I continue to talk about. When I ran my numbers after being home I realized I had won $1k gambling and had spent that $1k on misc things… NICE! Then Tuesday morning I am checking my accounts and see a cash advance from my credit card… Uh, no way. I did not do that. I immediately get online and try to get a hold of someone… Fuck. Friday night I did that… How dumb! I had plenty of other options not anywhere near as expensive options to take care of that apparent $1,000 w/d that I had to have lit on fire. Live and learn, live and learn.

All expenses, plane, room charges (cabana) and EVERYTHING we spent $1,774.38 on this vacation. Um, yes, I would do that every time, no question. Average bet was about $250 for the weekend.



What a trip!!! I will be pursuing my MBA in the starting in the fall, so with that I will be taking a hiatus from Vegas. I joined the boards two years ago in July and it has been an amazing fun run. I will have to get my Vegas fill from the sidelines when I rarely get some free time. I do have one trip lined up this summer so I will have one last blowout. I realize I could probably still make it out to Vegas, but I have no qualms with “going out” while it is so much fun. I will consider this going out ON TOP. As a degenerate gambler, a word we love to glorify, you have to know your limits so I am presetting my limits for a little hiatus after my Summer trip. This will be tested and tested… Let’s see how strong I can remain.

Next Sunday, Royal Caribbean will be taking @MrsBS and me around the Western Caribbean on Liberty of the Seas for seven days. Our stops will include Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Jamaica. Looking forward to some relaxation, and of course I will spend some time in the on board casino.
