Planning my first Vegas trip! March 17th - 21st! Staying at Harras. Looking for the best Local things to do or experience. I will of course do some tourist things. I love craft beer and work in that industry looking for good not to expensive places to eat and things to do. Any advice would be great! Also areas to stay away from. I'm not a small guy but would rather not end up in the wrong place at the wrong time of day!

@tringlomane is our resident beer and video poker expert. He can probably point you in the right direction in regards to beer. There is the new Beer Park at Paris that just opened up. It's probably a decent place to drink a beer outdoors and get your daily dose of vitamin D.

Maybe you should check out downtown to see the Fremont Street experience, the neon museum, take some historic pictures of the older casinos, container park, the mob museum, and go shopping at the outlets. The Pinball Hall of Fame can be interesting if that is your speed.

I'm sure others will chime in here.

I enjoy the beer and video poker [good payables] at both main street station downtown and four queens downtown. Boars head at mss and chicago pizza and brew at 4q. Both brew thier own beers.

If you buy at mss beer are cheap. I think $1.75 a pint. Though I may be wrong on price but either way cheap and tasty.

If its your very first trip to Lost Wages after you jaw comes back up off the ground you might want to check out the hotels and casinos. For sure where you are staying there are a lot of sights. The link area, high roller, all the restaurants and bars, bowling, casinos and you can walk across the street to GEEZERS and check out the forum shops. Go to the top of the stratosphere and check out the view of the city at night. GO DOWNTOWN where all the lights are bright downtown! For sure! Las Vegas sign and take a pic and post it. If you can do a little trip report here as we want to live vicariously through you! Follow Wanker's and VegasMonkey's lead as they are spot on. Have a great time and enjoy every minute as it will go by fast..

Yeah for a first trip I would not make it a point to local places too much, personally.

My head was spinning when I first went, there is so much to do and see and time, well honestly there is just not enough time in vegas. It goes by way too fast!

Another place with cheap eats and craft beer is Ellis Island casino. They have bbq and a steak special, you get a coupon for running some money through machines. I personally have never been but people seem to like it.

Get an American casino guide, it is a coupon book that is get for people who sign up for players cards. Match play, free play etc... food coupons as well. If you were going downtown the book pays for itself easy and it is also heavy on local casinos. Strip there are some coupons but not as good downtown.

Good news is that he won't have to go far in terms of good craft beer selection.

Harrahs main bar is pretty crafty. I got a "Victory at Sea" comped last month. They also have about 2 dozen taps.

And next door at the Linq Casino, there is my second home TAG Lounge where a couple of hundred beers are available and most can be comped while playing.

If you'd rather pay for beer directly though, yard house in the Linq promenade and the PUB outside of Monte Carlo are good selections.

As mentioned earlier MSS has a nice selection of their own beer downtown. Haven't been here, but I've also heard good things about Banger Brewing downtown.

And if a car is available, M Resort has 96 taps that are compable at the 32 Degree Bar.
