Agreed on the 3rd row. Only use it 10% of the time. Throw the 2 kids back there when hauling friends or grandparents. Currently have a 2014 Explorer Limited.

I have a fleet of Explorers for my company. I can't vouch for the 3rd row but they are safe as hell. Two of them were totaled in the past 3 months and the drivers were unharmed.

Sat in this Lexus RX L yesterday. Great all around LUV (Luxury utility vehicle). This is about the 3rd row...
My 6'4" frame sat in the 3rd row but very uncomfortable for me to say the least. My 10 year old sat in it with no problem and he said it's comfy. If you are 5'9' to 6 foot or you can fit comfortably for under a 20 mile jaunts. It comes with either captain seats or bench for up to 8 riders.

FYI... A friend reached out to me about a pre owned Lexus LS460 F sport.. I don't deal with pre owned cars at all as far as acquiring them for clients but I do point them in the right direction.. Here is the car below. It has been hit but its certified by a LEXUS DEALERSHIP so whatever damage there was wasn't bad as they wouldn't certify it in that case.
This dealer is asking 37k. RETAIL on this car is 39,200 ish. Great deal for this CERTIFIED car is 31k ish as they are probably in it 29k to 31k ish but I would advise anyone that If they can get it for between 33k and 36k that is a good deal and don't lose sleep over it. PS, I would extend the extended warranty a couple more years if possible.

Did some reading on that new RXL. Know what you mean on the rear seat. I might get to the Chicago auto show and check it out. Seems like I would lean towards the larger Infiniti qx60 for around the same price point. Not sold on it though. Trying to pry my wife away from the explorer/expedition will be difficult.

Any thoughts on the Alfa Romeo Giulia? I’m looking for a fun second car and have liked the look of it since their first ad for it 2 years ago. It seems to get good reviews, but a lot of those are for the higher end Quadrifoglio. That’s a little more than I want to spend. I know all the troubles they’ve had in the past but they needed to get this car right if they wanted to do anything in the US.

I have driven one and was pretty happy with the 20 minute test drive. How can you get a dealer to give you an extended test drive?

    Thanks.

You can ask the dealer for a BCA barrowed car agreement. It's a form kinda like a rental car agreement. BUT they probably won't agree to do that for you. So you simply have to go take many 20 minute test drives lol.. I personally have no input on the car itself sorry..

I really like the car, I looked at the quad only. 2 issues with the italians, if you live far from service it might be an issue for random electrical issues and software updates/recalls. I don't think most modern cars will leave u stranded unless its just bad luck. I found the door/seat proportion was kind of odd getting in and out.
I think the safer bet are the german counterparts, unless you want something unique. Not sure on how much u want to spend but u could look into others.
But for 4 doors Maserati ghibli is a decent lease car for the exotic factor.
Safe car lease is the bmw m3 or AMG C43

I wouldn't buy any of these cars new, IMO its better to lease or purchase certified preowned on a lease return

You might want to do some further research on the QX60 before you commit, it’s based on the Pathfinder and there have been issues with the CVT.

Thanks, that’s exactly the kind of response I was hoping for. I will have to take a look at the other cars you’ve mentioned. This decision is still a couple months away. I have a few other more important life decisions to make, but felt like a diversion was needed at present.

same issue with the Maserati on service and recall campaign , but at least the ghibli is well developed, near the end of its life cycle

Fyi, just got a client a 2018 black/black Porsche Cayenne GTS.. Porsche doesn't typically discount new cars.

    112,000 MSRP
    106,000 Selling price
    36 months
    12k miles
    7000 drive off
1785 Inc tax.. (In so California)

Or 60 month financing at 3.95%

I post these so you have ammo when buying your cars. Get a hold of me if you need more details.

I was just shopping these. Coming from a sports sedans and generally small cars they almost all felt like giant tubs. The Traverse and it's counterparts were decent. The Acura MDX was better. Believe it or not the Mazda CX9 was a better driver and a better cruiser, and if they would have offered a more powerful engine in that it would be a no brainer. Plus the signature trim level is gorgeous. But they don't offer an upgraded engine. Audi Q7 is the class of the field though, by far the best 3 row. I was buying 2-3 years used and plan to keep 2-3 years though, and everyone knows don't own a German car out of warranty. Lincoln MKT with the 3.5 ecoboost was a strong contender, but just too ugly for me to be seen driving.

I ended up going down to 5 passenger CUV though. If Ford would have put the 3.5 ecoboost into the Edge, again it would have been an easy choice. But the 2.7 ecoboost was just ok. I ended up buying an Infiniti Qx70. Great driving car, but the electronics are so outdated.

Can you believe it's actually raining in our neck of the woods.. Maybe it hasn't reached you yet?
I'll always hook you up but you do a pretty good job of car acquiring yourself!
