Just looking for some input on restaurants at Cosmo.
My next trip, I have $750 food and beverage to consume in 3 days.
I'm not an expensive wine or liquor drinker, so I'm thinking of some more expensive dinners.

I've already identified Blue Ribbon Sushi as a place I'd like to try. Does anyone have feedback on Blue Ribbon? I love sashimi, so I was wondering about the quality of their sashimi.

Also, I've heard mixed reviews about STK. I looked at the STK menu and I could do a nice bone in Rib Eye. Any feedback on STK?

Finally, I see Scarpetta has a tasting menu. Has anyone tried this? What did you think?

Any feedback on the new Beauty & Essex - the menu did not really appeal to me.
The Melon Mojito did sound good, though.

What's the Paella like at Jaelo for lunch?

Some other places on my list (most that I've tried before) are:
    • Milos tasting menu and/or lunch
    • The Henry
    • Secret Pizza
    • Clique Bar - has lobster tacos - anyone tried them?
    • Egg Slut!
    • The Juice Standard - Bee Cosmopolitan, Libido Lover
    • Holstein's shake
    • Chandelier bar drinks - verbena, Finishing School, Schnozberries, Sacrificial Virgin
    • Bond - Mighty Aphrodite
Based on all that, I should have no problem hitting $750 in 3 days.

Kimsa, I love Blue Ribbon, but have never had the sashimi. Never had a bad meal there, so I imagine the sashimi is good quality just like everything else.

Milos is top notch. Lots of folks have written about the lunch special and they are not wrong. Its excellent and won't make a big dent in your dining credit. BR and Milos are the two best options at Cosmo, IMO. I also like the buffet (even though I am not much of a buffet person) and Holsteins. The other options are all ok. I just feel like there are better options for the same stuff close by (I usually skip Secret Pizza and Jaleo for 550 and Julian Serrano next door)

Thanks for the input UK. I like 550 and Julian Serrano. However, this next trip I'm looking to do everything at Cosmopolitan and have no imprint at any MLife property. I'm keeping Blue Ribbon and Milos on my list and may test out the others based on any other feedback.

The quality of the sashimi at Blue Ribbon is good. I wouldn't be worried there.

In regards to STK, the steak is very inconsistent. It's also super loud in there. It seems to me that the later it gets, the DJ there increases the volume. This is one of the Cosmo restaurants I no longer eat at.

I've had the tasting menu at Scarpetta and it was okay. I'd rather piece my own tasting menu together. I typically get an appetizer, the spaghetti, duck breast, and caramel budino for dessert.

I may be in the minority of the group, but when we went the other week, I wasn't really impressed with the menu at B&E. I will probably give it another shot, but I think the menu was having a bit of an identity crisis and there was nothing cohesive about it.

The paella at Jaleo is good, but definitely too big for one person.

Hi Kim! We had dinner as a group at Beauty & Essex last trip- there's lots of pics in my last report if you want to take a look. It's a unique experience I'd say- I enjoyed it there. I wouldn't put it in the high end foodie category, but there were a couple dishes that I'd go back for. If you are wanting to try other places as a main meal, this could be a great spot for grabbing some smaller plates in-between, at least to give it a try.
A favourite for those who had the chance to get it were the tomato soup and grilled cheese (I also did like the french onion). If you paired it with the caesar salad and finished it off with one of the desserts and had the Melon Mojito, I think it would give you a good sampling of a few things to see if you want to do a full meal into the future. Menu may sound different, but the flavours came together IMO.

The boozy milkshakes at Holstein's are awesome- I think we had a Campfire Smores one- and it was delish- but very filling!

Secret Pizza- we had some of these pizza's- pics also in the last trip report. The favourite there was the one with the white sauce- excellent if you like garlic!

Milo's- a great deal on their lunch menu- a must try if you haven't had it before!

Looking forward to you trying out these places- you always do a great job on the food porn in your trip reports! Enjoy!!

Thanks for the input, VM. I read that it's loud in STK and would agree that the reviews seem inconsistent. I might still give it a try as I have the comps to burn. I'll also consider Scarpetta, maybe not the tasting menu, but follow your suggestion.

I think I might even end up eating 2 nights at Blue Ribbon - I like sushi and sashimi that much!

We've actually had better steaks at Milos over STK.

Nothing wrong with that! I think @DirtyShirley has eaten there multiple times in one trip and she loves the lychee martinis.

Hey VC, appreciate your input. I might do as you suggested at Beauty & Essex. I love tomato soup with grilled cheese. Cat Cora has a restaurant in the Salt Lake City airport and I used to get that each time I flew out to Vegas.
I enjoy the booze shakes at Holstein's too, and my favorite Secret Pizza is also the garlic one - but it's flavor does tend to last into the next day!
And Milo's is a sure thing that will never disappoint!

One more question...has anyone tried the tasting menu at China Poblano? It's one of the few places open at lunch. Curious what they serve for it.

Have not tried that menu, but I did not like the place the one time I ate there. I think the menu just didn't appeal to me. I would stick with Holsteins or Milos for lunch. Overall, there are some good options, so there shouldn't be any problem avoiding MGM properties ;)

I like China Pablano, but haven't done the tasting menus.

Most of the dishes aren't that big, so I think ordering a couple dishes that appeal to you might be the way to go there.

I really like their variations on traditional dim sum dishes, but I don't think their tacos are anything special.

The Salt Air Margarita is really good as well.

I haven't eaten at China Poblano in at least 3 years. I wasn't a fan of the fusion-y stuff. I do remember they had like a 21 vegetable fried rice that was amazing. I'll have to give it another shot one of these days.

The paella included in the lunch special at Jaleo is a single serving, fine for one and is very authentic. I lived in Spain for many years and actually prefer Jaleo to Julian Serrano. The lunch special at Milos is also very good.

Oops. You're right. I swapped Julian Serrano and Jaleo in my head with the paella with the serving size.

I'm a creature of habit, so I often eat at Jaleo and if you want a different experience, could knock a decent chunk of the budget out with a meal at e'.

I do love blue ribbon and eat there at least once every trip, including lychee martinis, which I do love and recommend ; ) I sometimes think they put an inconsistent amount of alcohol, but that might be them thinking they are doing me a favor by adding more ; P

If you end up with comps to burn too, invite some friends to dinner or get a massage ; )

Ok, here's my draft of where, when and what I'll eat and drink.

That is a cool itinerary ... I might make the first 2 lines and then the rest goes out the window unless I have others with me, then dinners are planned.

I think you can probably get away with not paying for some of those drinks. I had the Verbana on the 1 level at Chandelier and it was comped just playing VP. Ask the bartenders and they might be able to make the other ones too. I will be following along.
