Buy In Slot Tournaments

Generally with a buy in tournament you're guaranteed some of your money back in freeplay (usually half or so), so even with that buy in you'll probably get around $150-250 to play slots with anyways. And you could possibly have much more if you do well.

 

I’ve joined many buy ins that range from $500 to $5000. The main benefit is that the prizes tend to be larger and buy ins are usually lower capacity. A $500 buy in might have 200 participants and $5000 buy in have 40-50 participants. So your odds of winning 1st place go way up. Free tournaments often have 250-300+ people.

 

Will be doing our first buy-in at MGM in a couple weeks. Pretty excited. $500 to get in by you'll get $250 back for last place.

 

I always wanted to try $500 buy in at mlife but my dates never worked. Was told the way tournament structure setup is to keep you stay at one property only but they feed you good, you dont have to worry about that at all.

Just gamble gamble and gamble, may not suitable for player who likes to casino hop

 

There's usually only 4 times when you'd have to be at the hosting casino for a slot tournament...

- Session 1 - typically Friday morning (i.e. 11am)
- Session 2 - typically Friday afternoon (i.e. 2pm) - with some tournaments session 1 and 2 are back to back
- Session 3 - typically Saturday morning (i.e. 10am)
- Results - typically Saturday afternoon (i.e. 4pm) - sometimes attending this is optional especially if you didn't do well (last prize tier)

The hosting casino would certainly like you to stay at their property 24x7 but it's far from required. Some tournaments include food while others do not (or simply provide a food and beverage credit).

 

I've been in many of them ($500 and $1000) at Aria. I really like them and have done very well in them. I have yet to step up to the $5,000 tournaments but have been told that they're also great.

 

We’ve entered the enchanted garden $700000 slot tournament at the Wynn in two weeks time, $5000 buy in. It says 100 people with a 1st place prize of $250000. Our first buy in! Will keep you all posted on the outcome .......

With the wynn tournament coming up we get a minimum of $1500 free play from the prize structure and an additional $500 for buying in early. With the RFB credit for three nights it seems like a pretty good deal

Yea that's a pretty good deal. $5k is probably more than I'd want to spend on one, but I'd definitely consider one in the sub $3k area

 

So I haven't participated in a buy in tournament, although I have done a few free tournaments (which have terrible odds). This seems like a great offer to me. If it is $700K in prizes with 100 people at a $5K buy in, then it is significantly positive expected value. So is the casino contributing the other $200K into the prize pool. Is that normal for buy in tournaments? The reason I ask is that I assumed that buy in tournaments would be neutral or negative expected value, based on total buy ins and total prize pools.

Does everyone at a buy in tournament have to pay the buy in or do high rollers get a free entry. Also, does everyone start at the same (i.e equal) footing or do high rollers get to advance rounds straight to semi final or final rounds? The reason I ask is because this would significantly lower the 'true' odds for people buying into the tournament.

 

I'm going as well. The general belief is that the 2.5K entry buy ins are better than the 5K because the odds are a bit better. The winner of the 2.5 got 225K and the winner of the 5K gets 250k. If you finish in the top fourth, out of the major prizes, you get your entry fee back. There is also a rebuy for an additional round for 1.5K with the winner getting 1K from every player who signs up, winner takes all.

Wynn has amazing tournaments so this should be great!
