-US historical sites (White House, Washington monument, Lincoln and Jefferson memorial, WWII memorial, library of Congress, US senate, The Mall etc. ) these all have tours if you want
-text me for restaurant suggestions
-old town Alexandria
-Georgetown shopping for the wife
-lots of wineries within 90 minute drive
-Arlington cemetery
-battlefields within short driving distance
-mount Vernon
-river cruises (with dinner)
- lots famous college campuses
-eastern market, union market
- MGM national harbor
-Maryland live (I haven’t even been to)

So for the DC stuff I would ride share into the city. Then use public transportation for the rest. Very easy to use.

For anything outside of the city, schedule your itinerary so you can rent a car. Other (gambling) destinations within 3 hours (depending in traffic) are: Atlantic City, New York, Philadelphia, etc.

 

If this is your first time in DC and environs, I wouldn’t even bother going to a casino. There is just so much to see and do.
But to each their own, and if you do go, pics please.

 

Eh, I vote for national harbor, this stuff all looks like shit you can learn on Wikipedia.

 

If you are traveling across the continent, I'd advise trying to go longer. Perhaps a week if that is possible for you and your wife's schedule. Like Lousy said, there's really so much to do there, even a week or so isn't enough.

My friend told me that Maryland Live is actually a pretty decent casino. MGM National Harbor is really nice though. I think I've been there 3-4 times over the years. Very beautiful resort. Worth checking out.

Although there might be a tiny bit of truth to the above, it is a terrific area and Anon's suggestions are great.

As far as a comp room, I'd do it for (2) reasons:

Room rates are high in the area

Even with little play, your offers likely won't be affected much. Your play is high enough a host in LV can add FP to make up for it, anyway.

The only drawback is you'll have to use restraint with a casino "calling your name" 24/7

I would let the wife decide!

 

Id recommend the hop on/off bus to get around to tour or the duck bus. I go to mgm nh all the time and you will like it. I dont really like horseshoe, md live or hollywood. Might possibly be at mgm tonight.

 

If your plans are far out enough, you could try to schedule a tour of the White House, if you are so inclined. It's interesting to see and worth the time but you have to apply a bit in advance. You can see about that here: https://www.ushmm.org/information/visit-the-museum/admission-tickets. If you are museum type folks, the Smithsonian museums can take up your full week just trying to see part of them.
