It’s been a year + social distancing and protests, but we’ve survived and are still here.

I wasn’t sure I was even going to do a year update, but so much has happened in just the last couple months that I felt I had to.

For those that don’t know. my wife (Taylor) and I moved to Henderson on May 15, 2019 with our then 10 month old son. I transferred here through TSA and have since been promoted to a Lead position. Taylor chose to be a stay at home mom for awhile. Right before I accepted the promotion, Taylor and I learned that she was pregnant again, this time with twins. Needless to say, the timing of the promotion was perfect for us.

On April 14, Taylor and I welcomed beautiful, healthy twin daughters in our lives. I took a couple weeks off, but have since returned to work. Taylor is, of course, still being a stay at home mom and I hope she can do that forever, or at least as long as she wants.

Fortunately, COVID-19 didn’t hurt us any financially. Most TSO’s have been able to work a couple days a week and still be paid for 5 days a week. That was nice bc we didn’t have to worry about lost income. I feel so bad for those families that had 1 or 2 jobs that cut hours or the jobs were eliminated completely.

Also fortunately, we weren’t bothered by protests. When not at work, I’ve mostly hung out at home enjoying my beautiful wife and kids.

Now that things are opening up again and Vegas tries to return to normal, I remain on the shortened schedule for the moment and will be on that schedule probably until the end of June.

We are still very happy that we took the chance and moved here. Yes, there have been some moments where we worried whether or not we could stay here, especially over the last few months, but things have continued to work out for us. We both say that we would do it again if we had to make that choice again.

I’m not sure if I will do anymore updates unless there is a major change in our situation. I will be around to answer questions that people might have, but I should point out that neither of us have been to the strip since things have started to reopen so I can’t say what’s going on down there.

Even though you described it to me, I still had to google it and see what it was. I’ve seen those before, but didn’t know what they were called. If you can remove it and either put it through the x-ray or allow it to be searched by hand when it’s not attached to you, it will make things easier on both you and the screening officer. If you can’t remove it, such as because it’s too painful without it, then don’t remove it and just take the pat-down.

Glad to hear things are going well for you and the family there in our fav city! And congrats on the twins!! My daughters' twins are 6 months old, so I have an inkling what it is like for Taylor as a stay at home Mom (my daughters name is Taylor too ) kudos to her with 3 little ones at home!!

Taylor is braver than I am. I’ll gladly take the easier job of going to work and earning money while she does the much harder job at home. I love my kids, but I wouldn’t be good if the situation was reversed.

Congrats to you and Taylor on the twins. Glad that Henderson is working out so well. Good luck to both of you.
