October 2020 Roll Call

Heading there October 7th-14th. Staying at Ballys the entire 7 days. 5 days on my comp and 3 days on the wife's comp. Since I'm traveling with a number of family., I'm trying to line up comp rooms for family and friends. I have MSS 10/7 -9, then the Strat 10/9-12 then the Cal 10/12-14th. So my brother in law is covered.. Hoping that the Westgate, Tuscany Suites, The Plaza, Palace Station and Gold Coast all show me some Pre- Covid love. Possibly 3/4 daughters will be joining us and possibly lil sis (although she s 7* at CET so she wont need my help with rooms). Hopefully by then they will have the post lock down protocols in place and working.

 

Oct 13-18. 2 nights GN and 3 nights Cosmo assuming world hasn’t stopped by then.

 

Sounds like a fun celebration!

 

Oct 16-21 @ Luxor

 

October 12-17 (ish). 40th birthday bash on October 13. I will be there regardless of travel restrictions

 

October 22 - 26 Paris

 

Hey Geotwink, I just happened to check flight prices, and we can go round trip to Vegas from Oct 2-5 for $75 per person.

Can’t compete with the $22 @aprilroncincy paid for their most recent trip, but hopefully we can have 3.4 times the fun at 3.4 times the price!

 

Received a "by invitation" offer for a craps tournament at Bally's with five comp nights Oct. 22-26, which I'd always wanted to experience. As usual, and with fingers crossed, I booked the stay at The Linq for the five days and added Oct. 27. Hopefully, The Linq will be open by then and Nevada will be off the New York self-quarantine list, otherwise, I'll probably need to cancel.

 

October 29-November 1st at Mirage. Flying in with friends at 29% of the price of @TriggerMN ‘s flight. But will hopefully enjoy 100% of the fun!

This is the second trip booked at an unbelievable $22 price for RT, nonstop flights.

 

October 15th - 18th at Wynn Tower Suites with RFB. Looking forward to changing it up from The Palazzo.

 

Oct 27-30, at Aria & The D (for Circa opening)--then flying to Phoenix for a week of golf.

I'm done with this winter in Chicago bullshit, especially if its Covid lock-in.

Boys are remote learning (freshman college and 7th grader) so I rented a house in Scottsdale from Nov 29-Jan 8. Also doing another 6-week stretch Feb 12-Mar 26. Girls are on-site for now, if they change they will join, if not they fly down for 2 weeks over xmas break.

I anticipate an occasional Vegas trip during the 12-weeks I'm staying in Phoenix. As of now I've got 7 nights in Vegas and 100ish nights in Phoenix planned between now and April. Time to work on the golf game!

 

October 29th - November 2nd

 

This is nonstop, middle-of-the-day departures. How could I possibly pass this up? Thoughts @MeaghanCamilla ?

Plus I have my $400 in free play at Cosmo from winning Stack 'em High videopoker.com contest earlier this summer.

I cannot convince @Mrs2BOBCATS to go, we simply can't both quarantine. But she's ok if I go solo. Just not as fun solo. I've only ever been solo for work trips - going for fun seems selfish. But holy shit that's a cheap flight.

 

Flights are super cheap right now but you run the risk of it being cancelled. I had two clients the other day who work for Air Canada and they said they’re reassessing routes every few weeks and Vegas is a no go until the border opens

I’d book it and worst case they put you on a flight with a layover. West Jet’s code share is Delta so they could put you on YYZ-DTW-LAS.

I’ve been debating on booking April flights I can get business class for $1,000 each which is unheard of for Air Canada.

I’d say go solo!! I’ve thought about solo trips but knowing me my bankroll would be gone in a day without Patrick I’m sure someone from the group will be there at the same time and you’ll have all of us cheering you on.

 

So if they do that, are customs still in Toronto on the way out? We normally fly out of DTW on the big yellow bus since it's usually way cheaper and it's almost as close to DTW as it is to YYZ from our house. But last year we took Swoop out of Hamilton and customs were in Vegas upon arrival which sucked something awful. I had heard with departing YYZ that US customs are done in Toronto for both the way there and the way back?

 

Yes you clear customs in Toronto both ways it’s quite convenient! When we were leaving the customs agent was like why the hell would you want to go to LA right now. I explained it was just a layover and we were on to Vegas and he said that’s more like it hope you come home a big winner!

 

Just added a second October trip, this is gonna be a 21 night golf and gambling solo road trip with a Vegas component.

I'm driving from Chicago while stopping to golf various courses in Nebraska and Colorado, eventually landing at Westin Kierland Resort in Scottsdale for a weekend of golf with the buddies. When they head to work for the week on Monday, I will head to Vegas for 2 nights at Wynn and 2 nights at Cosmo before returning for another weekend of golf at Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale. Then I drive home where I have only 5 days in Chicago before I fly back out to Vegas for a stay at Aria and The D to check out Circa opening, followed by a week in Phoenix at an AirBNB in Scottsdale.

If you can't tell I'm looking to spend as little time freezing my ass off in Chicago as possible this winter!

Also really hoping to shave at least one stroke off my handicap this winter with all the golf!
