We should have the best of the best Vegas Hooligans in this forum.

I will edit this original post, with updates on just where, exactly, you can use your Express Comps in Las Vegas.

Please, no hearsay. But do share where you DO know you can use them.

    The checklist:
Tickets for house shows at any MGM owned casino. Think Cirque, Carrot Top , Australian Bee Gees ETC
NOTE, can anyone confirm that you can use your express comps at limited show, such as when headliners perform limited engagements. Or, can you use them for attractions, such as Shark Reef ETC?

    Spa treatments and access.
NOTE, can anyone confirm you can no longer use Express Comps to also get things from the spa, such as toiletries and towels to take home.

Pool rentals such as daybeds or cabanas.

Most sit down meals at restaurants inside the resort.
NOTE, can anyone say how many quick service places you can use Express Comps at? I have heard Starbucks, but did not confirm. Any food courts?

    Many quick service places:
    Burger Lounge in Aria
All of the small dining places in Eataly
All of the small dining places in New York New York
SOME Starbucks. NY NY Yes, MGM no. Hit or miss, you will have to ask
    Any more?

    Bar tabs for drinks.

To pay for rooms AND Resort Fees

Direct places I have used Express Comps in the past, that do not necessarily fall under any of the above buckets:

Aria or Bellagio Patisserie. This place is great for a quick sweet snack, or to grab some prepackaged sweets to go.

Any and All help would be a great addition to these boards!

I don’t believe you can use them at the sundries. I know for a fact that you can’t use RCs at the sundries, which is why I actually just get things from the overpriced mini bar in the room instead, because they’ll get comped.

    Here’s one for you!!

I used the majority of my Express Comps to purchase cigars and cigarillos from the Davidoff kiosk shop on the casino floor of the MGM Grand. Kept me going for years !! Everything else would be comped by the host, except sundries in the hotel lobby shop, where the discount would kick in anyway with MLIFE card.

Aren't they out of business? I thought the Jaber gift shop took over that space, and they moved down the Strip by the Ventitian now.

Unless I'm mistaken. I know I went looking for them at MGM in late 2019, to buy some Dunhill cigarettes and couldn't find.

When I Google them now, it just shows me the Ventian Kiosk. If it's still there, ill add em to the list. Thats a great place to use ECs that no one thinks of!

Well, I haven’t been back to Vegas since April 2019, for obvious reasons. It is a great shame to see that kiosk gone for Davidoff. Damn....someone has to advise us of a shop in an MLIFE hotel that sells cigarillos for Express Comp points !!!

My understanding is that you can use Express comp towards everything you charge to the room.

What I generally do is ask the store if I can charge to the mlife hotel in staying at and if it's a yes then shouldn't be an issue . I've never redeem the points towards purchases on the spot

I have done so as recently as December 2019 at Bellagio.

In the past, Starbucks at NYNY was covered... in Jan Starbucks in MGM wasn't (it appeared on my TV folio, but my host ultimately comped it). I may try doing it again at NYNY next week to see if that one shows up.

I know for a fact that many room charges from chain/franchised based casual dining (food court or counter ordering style) are NOT covered. I learned that the hard way from a few room charges in the past. But I also had a room charge from a quick service pizza place at MGM that got covered. So there does seem to be ambiguity. I agree that almost all of my room charges at the NYNY shops in the back seem to always been covered (such as the FroYo place or the deli place). Separate from that I think hosts have the ability to comp things that the resort credit can't cover. On the flip side, most (all?) sit down restaurants I've been to are covered.

EDIT: I just came to realize this was referring to express comps and not resort credit, so express comps can definitely be used in the places I listed because any room charge can have express comps applied to them from what I recall.

Looks like you two agree, that anything that is eligible to be charged to the room, can be paid off in express comps.

    Ill update my list!

Sundries cannot. Unless something has changed recently. I haven’t paid for room charges in about 5 -6 years but I always end up with tips and sundry shop charges at the end. Thus the reason I started using the minibar for snacks/drinks since those can be comped and/or have ECs applied.

Ah yes I didn't think about those, they fall under the "retail" category, which is not eligible for comps in Vegas. I never go to them, but I'm pretty sure that's still correct if you couldn't apply express comps to them in the past. The exception to that is at the Borgata where express comps can be used for retail there but you have to use it at a 2:1 ratio.
