Great news! Tell her I'm thinking of her and so glad she can attend all the events you planned in Vegas! I'd say she deserves a few handpays as well! ;)

I'm sorry to hear this but my money is on you! I wouldn't be surprised to find out that if your son started, one of their sons would be on the bench.

I just realized how mean I sounded in my post! Lol I need a filter apparently. I'm contacting some agencies who specialize in rights of those with disabilities. I know he's only 7, but this is the age he builds the foundation of the sport. He learns the fundamentals and how to be a member of a team. It's incredibly beneficial for his social skills and gives him a chance to be with other boys his age outside of the classroom. His autism has limited so much already in his life and he has never been invited to a play date or sleep over at a friends. Football gives him a chance to have something in common with his peers and possibly create a friendship that he absolutely needs. I can't imagine being 7 and not having a single friend. As a mother it's heartbreaking. So here he is wanting so much to be a part of a group, once again, and has something else keeping it from becoming reality. No matter how healthy he eats, and no matter how much exercise he is getting, he is just not losing weight. He continues to just grow. Lol I know once he's older weight isn't an issue in football but if he doesn't start now, what are the chances of him making the team later on. He has to work a bit harder than the others to learn the plays and communication has always been a struggle for him. If it wasn't a sport where size and/or speed wasn't wanted traits, I wouldn't be so angry. But I feel like it's discrimination and unfair they don't have a weight requirement on the opposite end. If my son can't weigh over 75 pounds, shouldn't someone else's have to weigh at least 55 or something? THAT is what bothers me.

I don't think you sounded mean. Your post showed the passion you have, as a mother, to protect, defend and provide for your child. Isn't that what motherhood is all about? Granted, his autism may have added some fuel to your fire but, even though we have never met, I think you would do whatever is necessary to protect and defend any of your children in a discriminating situation. AND, knowing you are willing to support his desire to play football must make him feel good about himself.

I've been away from the site for awhile...

Dear Huffy I wish I could reach thru the screen and give you a big hug! Life's circumstances can rattle you right to the core. Thankful that we have the technology that even if you can't be with your Dad at the moment you can see and hear your Dad thru the computer or the phone.

Vegaschic good to hear your sister is on the road to recovery. Again how difficult not to be there in person when someone you love is recovering.

I've been able to spend lots of time with my sons and my friends and down by the lake. My whole life changed in a minute when my husband passed. Every day for months on end I was frantic and the lady who was always in control...she could control nothing. So much colleratel damage is done when you lose your mate.

Over time you do find some colleratel beauty. You begin again to appreciate and enjoy the very simple things in life. I'm finishing up the 7th book in the series written by J.R.Ward. I try to catch every sunset along the lake. Watching the birds sitting on the patio in the sun. The politics of the world make you quest 20170829_194746.jpg ion if we will be here tomorrow so I try not to think about the future but just concentrate on finding a little joy in each day

The weight limits for 3, 4, 5, & 6th graders in the league my son was playing in were only this:

    10. No player exceeding 120 pounds can be placed in a ball carrier position. See section F.5 for clarification

F4. Maximum weight of any ball carrier shall not exceed 120 pounds, with a .5 pound variance at the Official Weigh-in, at which time the player is officially added to the team roster.
F.4a. Ball Carrier Positions: Running Back (Tail, Full, Flanker/H Back), Quarterback, Wide Receiver, Tight End*, Kick Off/Punt Returner, and Punter.*Exception: Tight Ends can be over 120lbs, are eligible for passes, but must line up within free blocking zone as defined by NFHS rules. They cannot split out, and are not eligible to return punts or kickoffs. Teams must also designate on their official team roster any TE that exceeds 120 pounds and must be number appropriate as defined by NFHS.

F5. Any player over 120 pounds, excluding tight ends, when they are added to the roster at the Official Weigh-in is considered over the weight limit for a ball carrier and cannot be re-weighed at a later date to become a ball carrier.

New York Lady - so glad you are back. Loved the sunset picture. Hoofy7, I hope you can get your son off the bench and onto the field. One pound just seems a little ridiculous to me. How is your dad doing? VegasChic - very relieved to hear your sister is doing better and can make the Fall meet. To everyone else on this thread - happy to have you here and be a part of it myself. Willie - how are you doing?

Thanks NY Lady! My dad is very sick. He's declining fast. I don't plan on going to Tennessee. I just don't want to watch him deteriorate. I want to remember him healthy and it's why I don't go to funerals. I don't believe in them. I think they tarnish the good memories and replace them with bad. In my will, I have specific instructions that I'm not to have a funeral or calling hours. No coffin or headstone. I want everyone to have a party and celebrate life. I don't want my family spending a ridiculous amount of money to put me in the ground. I'd rather they put that money towards a vacation where they can enjoy each other while they are still alive. Just dump me in the ocean! Lol

Hmmm, I haven't been on the boards much but Willie's last post in the weight loss thread was August 21. I haven't seen Pea anywhere while trying to catch up on my reading...

Thanks! My son is obsessed with red. I got a kick out of him putting his ball cap on backwards and wanting his red and black socks to "match" his clothes. It's the first time he has ever cared about what he looks like. Usually with him being autistic his worries were never about fitting in or social issues. To me it's a positive step in his progress and made me so happy. My daughter got the craziest hair cut. It's long on one side and short on the other??? We are still trying to figure out how to style it like her hairdresser did when she cut it. Lol We could not get it to look the same and I'm usually very good at doing hair. It's a hot mess and I think we may go get it evened out eventually! ;) Your flight on time Steph?

So very happy to hear that your son is making positive progress! My son is on the spectrum with Aspergers so I totally understand. It's so hard on us moms too, we just want them to be happy and have friends.
I think your daughters haircut is cute! Give it a week or two, she might decide it's fine like that or want to change it again.

My flight is still showing on time, yeah!! Can't wait to be there tonight

    Oh, and Happy Anniversary!!

He made weight by one pound! At his first game this morning! It's cold and I need to pee with no restroom in sight! No more coffee before his games! Lol

Hoofy - so sorry to hear about your Dad. My prayers are with you.
Happy though your son made his weight. I hope he continues
to do well and have fun.

VegasChic- so happy to hear that your sis is doing so much better and
will be able to join us at Fallapalooza. That is great news.

New York Lady - so happy you are getting to meet up
with your friend. Friendship is so helpful at a time when
I know you really need it. Will miss you though at Fallapalooza.

Yes there's a weigh in before every game. It was hysterical. He's a master at the horse collar technique. Lol
