What slots are you favorite and in what denom when you are chasing a handpay? How much do you typically run through trying to get it? I've been after the Buffalo Grand the last few trips. Those darn things hate me! Have run hundreds through and have yet to bonus even once! What works for you?

    Pinball $10 denom x 2 credits
    Cleo II $1 denom/20 lines
Celtic Myst at my local - $1 denom x 10-15 credits

Will generally start with $200-$300 and see how it goes. If I'm up big, I'll risk more.

Fu Dao Le, Dancing Drums and misc variations of Wonder 4 are my favs these days for sure. Depending on my bankroll and where I am in the trip my betting varies anywhere from mid level on those games ($4- $6) or max bet ($8.88 - $11.00)

I have read this tip multiple times on Buffalo Grand and Buffalo Stampede. Bet LOW. Bet .75 EVERYTIME and you will get HUGE HITS! :) Max bet eats you alive, Min bet hugs and kisses you. :) Multiple people have said that they lost 95 percent of their bankrolls playing Max Bet and got their bankroll REPLENISHED when they went to .75 minimum. ;)

Agreed on the MIN for Buffalo, or one level above it.

I have really been thinking about the minimum bet thing lately. I usually do max bet and have done ok on Buffalo. But for some reason on Walking Dead 2 I usually get my ass handed to me at max bet, while people around me bet way less and seemed to do much better. Last time at Cosmo I'm pissing $3.75 a spin and get zip. A woman sits down next to me, betting min $.75 and about 20 min later she hits for like $900 ( Free games + progressive x 10). I wonder if that's just a function of the math on Aristocrat games?

Any of the games where I can win the jackpots with the minimum (I like 88c) bet. This was my very first hand pay. I had wandered downstairs to have a smoke before bed, so I was just kinda minimum betting so I didn't burn through too much $$. And then wooohoo!!!
Any other machine I like $2 but on any of these types it is always minimum or one above. (there is no pic without me in it, sorry haha)

Recently, a woman got a bonus on .75 cents, on Buffalo Grand, and in my head,"Yes! Time to see the .75 Huge hit myth in Live action!" :D It paid her like $5! What a CRAPPY bonus she got. And besides, that machine was paying CRAP for everyone I saw playing there tgat day. But just because SHE got a crappy bonus on .75 doesn't invalidate that you should bet LOW on Buffalo Grand in order to get HUGE hits especially as that particular game was eating EVERYONE'S bankroll from what I saw.

Buffalo hates me...I will try running a $100 on the Grand machine at .75 and see if that changed...

Think I need to stop betting $8.88 on Fu de Lau per spin...perhaps try .88 cents. I just can't.

I agree! It's hard to live with the "what ifs" when that bonus finally hits!

    Identity Platinum,
Do you actually win much at 8.88? I'm always tempted but I feel like my wins rarely pay back my bet unless I hit a bonus game. Even then they are still meh. I chalk up the meh to betting .88 because I don't minimum bet on anything except all of these games. So whatever I win sucks lol. Whether it's the bowl or fireworks blah blah, all the same to me- I'm just trying for progressives now. Probably because the night I won that was the first time I played it. I do like to go play it on nickels at cosmo (hope its still there in nov, it's the one with the bowl) but I still bet 88 credits.
For the most part, I reason that at 88c I get more spins so more chances to get the progressives.. even the minis seem to pay better than my spins. Also, when you bet higher, the progressives don't go up so why risk more per spin? That's why I will go play nickels.

I also have always hated that the Progressives DON'T go up when you put in $8.88! The Mini SHOULD be $100 on a Max Bet, not $13! You are getting only a FIVE DOLLAR profit on a $8.88 bet! That's INSULTING!

I'm a low roller but I'll put my two cents in concerning Buffalo. I've never seen a max-bet player win much on that game (in person.) I have seen a woman playing 75 cents on Buffalo Stampede hit for 2,600.00 within five minutes of sitting down. I've seen two hand pays on lock-it links within the last week and both were playing 50 cents. I've sat down at a row of old Buffalo Deluxe machines where people are losing their shirts, played 20 cent bets and hit for 85.00 within 10 spins. My husband and I regularly hit 50-100.00 on 10 cent bets playing "The Fates." I'm sure it's great to be able to play max bet all the time but my friends who do lose thousands in a week while I make hundreds playing minimum bets. It's my opinion that slots have tightened up, this year. Bonuses only seem to pay really well about 30-40 percent of the time. Paying out to smaller bets keeps the bells and whistles attracting new players while not giving up much cash. Anyway, that's my conspiracy theory. ;)

Yes been seeing more and more people hit progressive jackpots that can hit at any bet. It seems like just yesterday that a majority of progressives required a max bet.

Largest progressive on minimum bet I have witnessed was Buffalo Stampede large random bonus of $27,000. Was hit on .75 cents

I love Texas Tea and Pick Your fortune though they are both hard to find east of the Mississippi, per my experience....Buffalo is starting to grow on me as one of my favs but have yet to hit anything good on it yet, maybe our trip out to Vegas later this month will change my fortune.

Having hit an $830 progressive on Dancing Drums at 88 cent bet, I will say I have favored minimum bets on a lot of these machines just to get more play out of them with the same bankroll, but have had remarkable luck getting some decent progressive hits. Lots of Fu Dao Le hits at $100+ at 88 cents or a step above as well. At any bet I'm happy with a 100x+ hit, so I'm definitely in this camp. Same for Buffalo Grand, Wonder 4 Jackpots, etc. Minimum bet for the machine most of the time.

For awhile I didn't get the 88 Fortune-type machines and didn't play them, but playing them a lot now and seeing the appeal (never hurts when luck brings you a chance or two to see the potential of what they can be).
