We are heading to Aruba 1st week of October for our honeymoon, just trying to see if any of you fellow VF'ers have gone. We like to gamble at night, beach/sights during the day. Just lookin for any advice/tips!

The casino at the Ritz Carlton is easily the nicest casino in Aruba. I'm a table games guy so if you're a slots player you would need to get other opinions. For table games they have a multi-table progressive bet that starts at $1 that adds a nice touch.

Interesting. We stayed at the RItz for 5 days a few years ago and I was going to say that I liked the Marriott casino next door better.

I'm sure there are better casinos though. I remember someone telling me down where the Renaissance is a better area to gamble. But we really didn't go down that way.

FWIW, if I went back (the old lady did not like Aruba but I loved it)... I'd stay at the Marriott property next to the Ritz. Neither of us really cared for the Ritz that much at all.

Is that the Stellaris? Thats what pops up the most on like tripadvisor etc, and the casino looks to be one of the biggest. Its in the right area of the island from what ive read

A bit more detail on my opinion. I visited almost every casino during our most recent stay. Some of them cater to locals and are pretty spartan. The one downtown (Renaissance) caters to the people that get off the cruise ships. When I went in it was half crowded, very muggy and had a mildewy odor that was not pleasant. I also visited the Hilton, Marriott and the Ritz. The Hilton and Marriott were OK, but nothing special. The Ritz, to me, was a notch above - decor, layout, vibe, staff, smoke scrubbers, etc. I don't smoke but I can live with it at the gaming tables as long as the smoke scrubbers do a decent job.

At the end of the day it depends on what you're looking for. To me, the Ritz is more like a higher end strip casino, like Aria, Cosmo or Caesars.

Great advice. I definitely want that clean feeling. If we find a casino we like within the first night or two, chances are that'll be the one we return to throughout the week. Sounds like we are either doing a Marriott Stellaris or Ive heard great things about the Divi Phoenix.

You dont have to be a guest at the specific hotel to play at the casinos, right?

Maybe it's updated since I was there? This is what it looked like when I was there and that doesn't conjure up images of the Aria or Cosmo to me.

But congrats on the quads! I'd probably have a much more favorable opinion had I had quads when I was there!

For contrast here's a shot of one of the other casinos I visited in Aruba. Can't remember which one it was but was definitely darker, tables and machines packed in more densely and more worn.
