What? No Grid for a month and now we get Trip Reports every other week? Yup! I'm fancy like that!

Barley a month after getting back from Vegas with the wife, we took the whole clan cross country to Atlantic City.

Frontier is doing kids fly free, so for under $150 round trip, I'm a sucker for a bargain. Plus, I had $600 in free play waiting for me at the Borgata.

    Spoiler Alert. "I didn't Lose!"

Check it out and report back. Happy to answer any questions, as always!

Loved this report! And congrats on the win and first Borgata handpay!
I’m fairly certain we’ve had the same parking guy at CET tell us we needed a new card, despite the old one working and status remaining Diamond. They just seem to hire some miserable people. Borgata used to punch a hole in your card exiting the garage if it was expired making sure you went and got a new one. Guess AC takes their parking seriously!
Surprised security was so mean to you for just taking a picture, it technically is illegal from some old law from what I’ve been told, but usually they aren’t complete jerks about it.

Rock on CT! It seems like most everyone CET hires is somewhat miserable LOL

To be fair to the Security Dude, he just told me no pictures in the casino, and I sort of pushed back on that.

If I would have just said "Yes Boss" that would have been the end of it. But I wanted to see if he would at least ask someone when I questioned him. He didn't want anything to do with me after that.

Below is the reply I just got in regards to me asking my host.

"Nice catching up the other day…I’ve forwarded this to our V.P. of Marketing and waiting on a response. In the old world, photography wasn’t allowed (or welcomed) but in the ever changing world we live in, it’s more than welcomed and almost expected as the first line of info in social media. Thanks for passing it on and I’ll be in touch when I hear back"

I honestly never ask for permission first. Just like with my wife. If I ask her is the ice cream in the freezer is for me, or her, I know what the answer will most likely be. Instead, i wait for her to go to bed and then I eat it.

Always easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

As usual, wonderful report of your family trip. Congrats on the great come back. The Borgata usually slaps me silly with losses, but the last time I was there I got an extra dose of losses, leaving with only lints in my pockets. Great to see you came out a huge winner after getting down to $400.

Frontier runs special promos like that a decent amount. They have also had "Friends Fly Free" if you became a "Discount Den" member. Once we went to Vegas for $40 a pp/rt from STL.

Nice report Grid! And great run at the end! Interesting about Storybook Land. I could see M being into that for a diversion.

Great TR indeed as always, got a good laugh about the gas in NJ thing. My wife is from there and I remember my first trip a while ago I tried getting out of the car at the gas station in Cherry Hill and she told me "don't move", now I know why lol.

As always, your trip report had me laughing (and muttering along with you). It's been fun to watch your girls getting older -- we know who runs the show on the family trips (not you), as evidenced by so many visits to the beach. I loved the photos of Storybook Land -- it's so nice that the owners have preserved the old-fashioned sweetness, which reminded me of my own visits to Fairyland in Oakland (CA) when I was a child.

Grew up in NJ. Moved to Seattle area and spent a long time sitting at a gas pump the first time I went to fill up. .

Fun fact: OR yells at you too when you get out of the car.

You cant lose all the time right? Thanks for reading it!

Normally I have total losses, or just slight losses at the Borg. I think this is my 1st winning trip there. You are not alone!

Frontier is always doing something fancy it seems. When I took the wife to Vegas in August, it was friends fly free. Now, through March I think, its kids fly free. I don't see how they are making any money with this, since they were cheap to begin with. But that is not my concern. Take advantage while you can!

You need to have a head start to make a go of it! If I dont have decent free play waiting for me, I dont even try to gamble at a casino.

    Thanks Steph!

It is a balancing act for sure. The kids love hotels, beds to jump on, pools to swim in and cable TV, which we do not have at home. The wife likes relaxing and not having to constantly pick up after us animals. As long as I sneak a short session here or there, and then play at night when they are asleep, everyone is happy.

But man, do I need a vacation from these vacations. I am exhausted by the time I get home!

Thanks buddy! SBL is a great diversion. Even without kids, its retro fun and surely a dying breed of entertainment.

Unusually, with a rental car, my only gas mishaps were limited guessing wrong as to which side the "Gas Hole" is. I put that in quotes, since its a running joke with the wife and I. She calls it the "Tank". I say the tank is under the car, and you actually pump into the Gas Hole.

I'm just the chauffeur! If you read through some of my older trip reports, you'll see just how much these vacations have changed with the kiddos along for the ride. They used to be very slot heavy, since that is what I would do with 90% of my time. Now, I can branch out and see more thanks to them.

When I'm kidless on a casino trip, I need to stretch my money out to fill the day. When i have to pack my gambling into shorter sessions, I can take more chances, like this time, and see what happens. This time, that worked out well!

Too funny! I'm old enough to remember when Full Service was a thing. We never did it, since my Dad refused to pay the extra nickle per gallon or tip a buck to get his tires filled, oil checked and windows cleaned. All a bargain by today's standards!

I actually edited my AC Trip Report to add the below. I gave a shout out to Ryan Depaulo in that report, since he does a great job of covering Borgata in his Vlogs. He was just served a lifetime ban from the Borg for recording!

Crazy stuff! There goes my chance at him immortalizing me in his Vlog, and me him in my blog, if we both cant be at the Borg at the same time.

    10/25/2019 Edit!

I made reference in my below report of my guy Ryan Depaulo, and his many Vlogs on staying/playing at Borgata. As of right now, he is sadly serving a lifetime ban from the Borg for video recording one of his gambling exploits there.

He has the option to petition the ban in one year, to try to gain access to the resort and casino again. Really sucks that some casinos do not see the benefit of all this free social media publicity they gain from people like Ryan and I doing what we do.

Just like I can get a little rowdy, so can Ryan. But neither one of us is ever disrespectful to staff or other players. It is worth noting, that Ryan gained National attention for reaching the final table at the World Series of Poker Colossus in Las Vegas, has 10's of thousands of followers on YouTube alone and even has a Borgata Tournament Championship Trophy sitting at home.

And yet he was bounced for recording his exploits. I have yet to get thrown out of a casino for harvesting material for these reports. I hate the cat and mouse game we have to play. Free Ryan Depaulo!

Give it another 10 years; the people who grew up without computers will die off and then everyone in the workforce will know how to use a computer.
That’s either going to help casinos or just make it so only super wealthy foreigners gamble when the US dollar is in the toilet.

    Bingo!

Here are some funny stats. When Hard Rock AC Brought Brian Christopher in to live stream his slot play, his top videos of their machines and property averaged out to nearly 103,000 viewers each. The last 10 videos that Hard Rock put on you tube itself in Atlantic City has about 400 viewers each.

These casinos have to have marketing directors, right?

When I search hard Rock Atlantic City on youtube, the top videos are Bruce Springsteen's concert there, Brian Christopher's slot videos there, the best being 7 months ago with 161,000 views, then again with 148,000 views, the Casinoman NJ playing their slots with 126,000 views and more concerts and more slot videos.

The Big Jackpot recording his casino play has nearly 200,000 people following him on there. Same with BC slots. The Borgata? 3,500.

    Where is your exposure LOL

The same time I dropped my trip report, which got almost 18,000 views in the past 3 weeks, the Borg dropped their video on Steve Aoki at the premiere night club, and that has 186 views. My shitty blog gets more views in a month than a dozen of their videos get in 3.
