At Cosmo HL and most HL rooms generally, they're a bit more lax. They usually won't comp a round of Macallan 25 if you're a group of 4 sitting with one person playing a $50 table, but otherwise they're pretty loose. Part of it depends on the particular bartenders, too; even Lift Bar is very flexible on guests if you're playing a $1 table.

Do you know something I don’t know? They haven’t allowed a comp pour of Macallan 25 in many years and that was only in Talon... Or have you been drinking too much at Lift Bar since they’ve opened?

Ha, I was being hyperbolic. I guess if you're playing $10k/hand they might permit it, but that'd probably be up at Talon anyway. But a watermelon and vodka is probably pretty doable.

Gonna be totally honest, very disappointed in Cosmo and how they’ve handled their capacity and “safety measures.” Minimal regard for guest & co-star safety, imo.
Strongly considering canceling my Aug trip and rebooking at WynnCore, V/P, or Aria depending on reports from those places this weekend...

As I envisioned, last night was a complete mess and seemed equally as bad or worse than a usual July 4 weekend here, and I’ve come for a lot of them the past 10 years. We knew going into it that we would avoid Fri & Sat night in the casino, but thought we’d take our chances last night....mistake.

Just blatant disregard by the property for anyone not actually sitting at a slot machine, and even then it was pretty bad. Non-slotters (bars excluded), probably 60-70% of people I could see were wearing their masks wrong or having them down for unnecessary extended periods of time. Walking through that main walkway? Good luck! That was by far the worst. So many people congregating and screaming like a usual weekend.
While slots were a little better bc of the attendants, I’d still say 40-50% non-compliance. The attendants have been doing the best they can but it was just so packed last night. At least three times someone pulled up a chair to play the machine literally right next to me.... as in one foot away from me (ex: Lightning Links)... and two were even coughing and WOULD REMOVE THEIR TO COUGH. Then continue wearing them around their necks.

A was playing a machine where the couple immediately to his left in another bank would only rush to put their masks on when they saw a slot attendant. Otherwise they were literally rounding 1st base half the time and just sitting there trying to rack up free drinks from the cocktail waitress.

And forget about the bars. Chandy, Clique, and especially Vesper. You’d think there was no pandemic whatsoever going on right now. No masks in sight and PACKED. Six feet distance? Lucky if you had six inches. The lobby was so smoky last night from Vesper.

and, also as expected, it took an engraved invitation to get up in an elevator that wasn’t packed with 10-12 people. The general crowd here at the moment seems a bit.....rough. Waited about 8 rides (10 min) before I could get on one not packed, and even then it was three others and myself.

sorry for bitching! Just very disappointed in the property and wasn’t sure if anyone else here had the same take on matters after last night.

This ain’t no damn ho’ house.
Plus 100 to everything you just said
And it’s not just Cosmo, it’s all casinos.
MAAAYBE wynncore is doing right it because they were the original first to close on their OWN (without being told)
EDIT: to add to this; I think I’m most surprised at the amount of people who came WITHOUT masks (you can tell; they’re wearing the “free” masks)
Like I heard on the airline; wearing a mask shows respect for your fellow passenger

Except for the fact that I think @GlenCoco is just an imaginary friend of @Texas Steph and @Wiscolovesvegas cuz he never showed up when I was around...I agree with everything above.

Really rude crowd and Cosmo is clearly just going through the motions. I’m surprised they aren’t one of the casinos the culinary union is suing. If I had heath concerns, I’d avoid Cosmo, of course, I wouldn’t travel at all... Still had a lot of fun, but MGM properties seem to have a better handle on things. Not fantastic as @TIMSPEED says but better than Cosmo.

Ugh. Overall I think a majority of people are taking precautions (outside of casinos) but it's the very loud, very arrogant, and very in-your-face people who are going to ruin it for the rest of us.

Anyway, moving along... just wanted to give my honest observations on the policies, precautions (or lack thereof...) and my take on the weekend crowd.

Last full day. My body is begging for mercy (although I do think that IV def helped as usual). Planning to take it easy.

To ensure I can book a winning trip (or at least ensure all expenses get covered so it’s like a “free trip,”) I’ve got about $500 cash remaining, + $330 point play, and + whatever I can convert in the scratch & play game Cosmo has at the moment. Generated about 32,000 points so far. Not bad for a last day! Especially when we do not plan on entering the casino after dinner...

Still trying to get out of bed at the moment. Hopefully will be down around 11am.

here’s to hoping for a premium hand on DSTP and both multipliers! And lots of slot bonuses. :)

Aria has actually been very, very good. I can count on one hand the number of people I saw yesterday without a mask. And the vast majority were actually wearing it properly; there were some people sitting alone at slot machines with nobody around who had theirs pulled down, but that doesn't give me much heartburn. Same goes for the people who pulled theirs down when outside, I don't love it but it's not the end of the world. Everyone at table games and most slots had one, the bars were spaced out, the people walking around were all wearing them, and overall it's been far better than I had been expecting. Not all the casinos are perfect (there's only so much you can do to counteract carelessness), but Cosmo has been exceptionally bad.

Must say I was upset to read your review of Cosmo’s safety procedures especially since I’m booked there next week. Are there any rules in place for the elevators or is just take your chances?

Take your chances, and there’s no guarantees a crowd won’t jump on behind you. Honestly, if social distancing is a real concern for you, Cosmo isn’t the place for you. It wasn’t bad during the week, but the LA crowd arrived yesterday...

PS - I’m not a social distancing / mask Nazi, I’m pretty much libertarian, but Cosmo really isn’t trying very hard. And it’s weird, they wouldn’t let @MrsIrishDave stand with the group last night at Chandelier cause she didn’t have a seat, but they’d let people sit there with a lit cigar in an ashtray for 20 mins with no mask because they were “smoking”. But then, sometimes they’d make you put the masks up between puffs at the slot machines.

Inconsistent enforcement of fairly lax procedures, employees didn’t know the procedures, etc. I’m not impressed at all with Cosmo’s management. Pick a path, train your people, and execute consistently...not that hard

We are set to arrive on Friday morning the tenth and leaving Tuesday. This is concerning. I was hoping after a week of the mandated mask order they might have things a little more together.

And Cosmo elevators have always been a free-for-all anyway. Nobody's even checking keys, let alone requiring a keycard for floor access. Honestly, they're barely even going through the motions when it comes to safety and security. The only exception I came across was Block 16, where they have a hostess keeping an eye on the lines and enforcing capacity (though most people are going to Hattie B's anyway, so if you're going to Lardo or somewhere else it's not a big deal).

Appreciate the honestly about the protocols. It's increasingly clear that, currently, there's no way for me to travel in a way that I'd enjoy since so many people are being irresponsible.

I think they were the first ones to speak up https://www.reviewjournal.com/busin...pread-of-coronavirus-among-employees-2064206/

It is for these reasons I am considering switching to the Wynn for my September trip if Cosmo can't get it together....again playing how the international travel etc. is looking at the time.

Thanks, @GlenCoco and @IrishDave for your thoughts and observations on Cosmo's distancing policies...or lack thereof. I've really been itching to book a trip to Cosmo, but quite frankly, some of the reports over the last few weeks regarding Cosmo's lax policies have been concerning. Granted, the rules can be difficult to enforce in a large casino, but it sounds like some properties are overall more cautious and hitting the mark better than others.

Do guests still need to check in with a host at Chandelier for seating at the bar or in the lounge? It would seem that in theory, that would help cut down with the crowds, but maybe not so much in practice.

Hell, even Excalibur was checking room keys when I stayed there ages ago. And Aria installed card readers in the elevators. I get why a Mandalay Bay might not go that far, since it's a huge but relatively-isolated property, but given the foot traffic Cosmo gets combined with the huge nightlife scene, it always surprised me.
Agreed, it's never going to be perfect, but my sense is that between attracting a different clientele, and taking security more seriously, MGM properties are doing a lot better. As Dave put it, Cosmo is probably not the place for you if you're at all concerned about distancing and safety. I also agree that people are entitled to make their own choices, but when it comes to masks in crowded places, it's to protect other people, not just you; as the saying goes, your right to swing your fist ends where my nose begins.

Thanks for sharing everyone. It’s a bummer to hear. Hope the afternoon is better @GlenCoco. Champagne on the terrace isn’t a bad last night. Even if the official fireworks are canceled you’ll probably be able to see some illegal fireworks in the distance.

I do feel bad for the staff. And for the people wondering how their upcoming trips will be.

I don’t know if I can take a sad Boulevard Pool story @GlenCoco.
