DO overdress for a nice dinner. Where else can you do that and not be judged (much?)

Do not walk all the way from one end of the strip to the other and back on day one. Seriously, I did this my very first trip to Vegas. My feet were aching so bad the next day I had to hobble to dinner in my "nice" shoes.

Don't wear shoes if they only look nice but don't feel nice. You'll be sorry.

Avoid timeshare people. You can often recognize them by their golf shirts and name tags. Do not pause briefly within 5 metres of any desk except the front desk. Do not talk to timeshare people. Do not make eye contact with timeshare people. If you do happen to look one in the eye, you must immediately create a diversion (vomiting, speaking in tongues, singing loud show tunes, etc., etc.) until the Beast returns to its podium.

I never feel the timeshare people bothering me at all. I mean they never even tried to talk to me, or to draw my attention.

JeJas what is your secret with these timeshare vultures? No matter how slovenly I dress to go through the lobby, they are toooooo willing to talk to me. Some days they are as thick as the porn-slappers.

We came down the north elevators at Flamingo once to go out to the habitat. The vultures are in the hallway there. Without having made eye contact or acknowledged her presence in any way, one of those vultures followed us from the hallway, OUTSIDE the doors into the habitat, nearly to the first bridge that is out there before finally getting the point. I shared that experience with my Caesars executive host at the time since it's a poor reflection on them to have people like that in their buildings. It's actually seemed to be better since then.

I also don’t get stopped by the timeshare people myself, maybe once ever.

I think they look for certain profiles of people they think are much more likely to buy. That’s usually married couples or almost married couples and families with young children.

Last time I passed through an area with them I was alone and they were only stopping couples. Just wondering if those who get hit up by then a lot might be why ?

Really like these. Tipping is actually a part of the Vegas experience. Something to tell stories about when you get home. "Millie, did you know there are attendants in the restrooms you can tip for handing you a paper towel in Las Vegas?" Stories aside, dealers, cocktail waitresses, and wait staff live on tips they receive.

I really don't have any secret, but I do believe the fact that I am always solo helps.

A big mistake is only going for a short time your first time like a cruise. Go all out and book 7 nights.

    1. Don't stay off-strip if you expect to be on-strip the majority of the time. Yes, you may save on resort fees but transportation costs can add up.. and not all roads have sidewalks. Or look for a hotel that has regular shuttles to the strip.
    2. If you are signing up for a new players card, request e-mail communication only (ie, no postal mailers). Some clubs offer this option.
    3. Before going to the pool, figure out the path you need to take from the elevator. Nothing like walking through the casino to the front desk in your pool gear / robe to ask for directions!
    4. Show ticket discounts are sometimes online, but consider asking about discounts at the box office in person. You may be surprised!
    5. At the airport going home: Do not gamble if you are close to boarding time. The slot attendant is likely to have conveniently disappeared just when you need to cash out and run.
