Little late morning sesh at the local. Ugh wish they would offer TDB but alas ... a wins a win.

 

If the unit is too old, it's actually not programmed to even offer TDB UX. It had to be at least made since ~2015 or so. Same goes for Bonus Deuces Wild on UX. I also hate BDW on there btw; I seriously never hit shit on it.

But nevertheless, nice hits!

 

First casino trip of the year. Overnight trip to Resorts World Catskill. Had some slot wins and played UX on Saturday night at .05 and was on a streak, every big hand I keep saying, why did I not play .25 but I was mostly killing time before curfew and only had 2 hours after dinner to play. (yes, NY still closes casinos at 10pm)

Started the session with a $600 ticket and cashed out just under $1400 at 10 PM closing

Some highlights of UX




Finally dealt 4 6's with decent multipliers on the board.


First Royal.


A short while later the machine locked up and wouldn't respond to anything and eventually decided to go green. Took 15 min for a slot tech to show up and reset the machine.


Only had about 30 more min to play before 10pm curfew and cashed out $1389... and it decided it was now out of paper and I had to have a hand pay instead so had to stick around for them to go fetch the money. At least it bought enough time to avoid most of the line for the hotel elevator as literally there is only one "grab and go" food option open past 10pm and everything else shuts down.

Played a little this morning and was playing UX Bonus Streak, .25 this time. Put in ticket for $1100 and was down to around $300 and had some decent hands to get me back up in the 500s when I finally got a decent pay. Hold pair of 4s and the 4OAK hit on the 12x.




Put back another 200 and moved on. Ended trip with original bankroll and +$2400 with some slot wins on top of the VP wins.

Next weekend heading up to Foxwoods to mostly lock in my card level for another 6 months as it is 4x status points on Friday and there are some gifts.

But i wouldn't hold the kicker on DDB. Drawing two gives you twice the chance of hitting a quad and you can still redraw a kicker. And you'll be a little more likely to hit a full house drawing two.

TDB though, definitely hold the kicker!

 

When I saw that hold on DDB I cringed, but not thinking of the hold, thinking of Tring cringing when he saw that hold

Btw I finally subscribed to the videopoker.com trainer and DAMNNNNNN was I blowing a lot of money on Deuces Wild mis-holds!!! Biggest benefit was I realized I’m too stupid to play video poker, outside boner deluxe which I have down reasonably well.

 

I like to go with the motto “ rather be lucky, than right” or “ ignorance is bliss”.... lol. We need a thread for “ dumbest hold you’ve ever made”..... I would win that shit hands down!!! I made a hold once on Deuces Wild, that 2 months later still has me shaking my head hahaha

Not going for connected straight flush draws enough? Not holding two pair when a full house pays 4 for 1? And I'm sure you weren't holding things like 5689. I hate holding those gutshots too for a piddly 2 for 1 payout. But not following the math is like sinning or something to me...

 

Good point on the holding the kicker on the ace on DDB, I tend to play TDB more and it is reflex to hold kickers. Thanks for the advice. I was too excited to have a hot streak, even if it was only at .05.

 

Just the gutshots—I love how that app shows the cost of the mistake. On Boner Deluxe I’m like 99.7% and the cost of mistake is minimal. On Deuces I’m obv getting better now but cost was adding up for sure

 

My first ever royal flush. Got the multiplier before the deal. Feels great to finally get one. Although I don't play video poker that often.
