    me too.
With more than 100 trips, I had some trips which were so damn f**king shit luck.
Just couldn't win anything, anything at all. Everything I touched, I lost.
Entire 3-day trip, playing 7-8 hours per day, didn't get a single 4-of-a-kind.
Tried tables, lost every single hand. I remember sit at 3 card poker table, all other players were winning,
I was the only one losing and losing every hand to the dealer.
After the first day, hope the luck would change next day.
Then next day exactly the same shit thing.
Then 3rd day, same shit thing.
One trip I lost 3x my prepared bankroll.

Nowadays, this shit thing still happens once in a while.
When it happens, I just quit the trip.
I know there is no tomorrow. This is no turn around. The black cloud wouldn't go away.
Come back next trip is the best strategy.

This is so true. if it's a gambling trip, you can't fill in the time in Vegas, can't.

It can also take planning and effort, which can be incredibly annoying in Vegas. For example, I think the Neon Museum is one of the coolest attractions in the country, but you need to book in advance, arrange transportation there, etc.

I agree completely with Grid, unless all you want to do it gamble, and you're solo, Vegas is a bit iffy right now.
As a lifelong Mets fan, it's still pretty bad. They just figured out a different way to do it (yes, I know they're an A's affiliate now). The new ballpark is pretty nice, though!

Years ago when I mainly played BJ, the worst session I ever had and
remembered was I lost my $2K buy-in at $25 a hand in a quick session.
I always flat bet and never increased my bet.
So I was down 80 units, out of maybe 100 hands (or even less) played.

That session, plus another session which I lost 20+ hands in a row, not even a push,
made me to stop playing blackjack for many years.

Thats historically bad. Maybe a once in 100,000 sessions downswing.

Agree on blackjack, I used to play it exclusively due to the low house edge, but I think I lose less on carnival games due to pace of play.

That's why I stopped playing BJ all together.
How hard is it to stop a gambler from playing?
Still painful for me to recall how every hand the dealer hitting on 16, she got a 5.
I hit on 12, burst every time. Where was the f**king god??

Lol, so on a muuuuuch smaller scale I was killing time before my flight in Reno and up a bunch trying to lock in the win. Decided to pony up to a $5 table and bought in for $200. Played heads up with the dealer for maybe an hour and lost it all. Not quite as bad as 2k though!

about 20 years ago i lost 7k in a evening at ballys playing $100 slots, one $100 at a time. I never hit a jackpot spin >1250 with dropping 7k. a few years later, i tried these high limit $100 slots again, 3rd spin i won 6k and quit. some days your lucky others not so much
agreed blackjack super fast, and ive found if you go up in limits sometimes high limit empty, and with often less players at the table it even faster. win or lose very quickly sometimes

This is essentially what happened to me playing $50-$100 with around $5K. I expect I lost around 75/100 hands over 3 sessions.

Quick update - slowed down and stopped the bleeding after Tuesday and heading home today.

Someone mentioned that it’s a pain to plan things in Vegas on the fly, and that’s especially true right now. Everything is sold out days or weeks in advance because of capacity restrictions.

Overall I plateaued around $6K down and was able to tread water for awhile with slots and carnie games. It was pitifully low play compared to a normal trip in terms of both time and theo generated.

I’m normally not a high # of hours player but rather a high average bet relative to bankroll, hit and run / press to win player for BJ so when negative variance hits it can sink me in a hurry. Perhaps something to consider before I book 5 nights!

Problem with carnival games right now is that the minimums are high relative to BJ. You can find $25 min BJ for 3/2 especially during the day but most carnie games are $10-15 which means $50+ in reality

Yes! I played a $200 NLHE daytime tourney at Wynn on Wednesday and it was a great time suck. Come up empty but burned a couple hours and had fun.

I find downtown depressing to play at... don’t mind visiting and walking around/drinking but something about the low ceilings, dark lighting, and bad ventilation makes for poor ambiance and therefore experience for me.

That's the case with craps, as well. Even a $15 game really adds up when you take into account odds, place bets, etc.

I saw $25 3:2 at Aria the other day on the main floor. Probably not going to see that on a Saturday night or a holiday, but it's out there.

I play similar to you Murphy, high average bet for the bankroll, but i often just take couple grand for a evening and play often if not always higher than i should for my day trip roll, sometimes a big bet like 1/4 of the day trip roll at once, its been working for the past year somehow, but many trips i used to leave broke (down 1-4k ) always in one day trip. After some time, its really hurts when lose like this, but i never changed into a flat better. best of luck!

Years ago in my wild and crazy youth i lost 40k in a tailspin of a blackjack session in Vegas. Was reeling from a recent break up and was out of control. Spent the whole day feeling like death. Then had a completely out of character one night stand. I still look back on it as the worst but most memorable day of my life. Maybe thats the trick?

I recall the big moments of being out of control and chasing losses in Vegas, and the ones that stand out are the ones that ripped you apart. I remember those evenings still today. I made the usual promises to myself to control my play in future, but it’s clear that those memories are defined by the thrill of the moment. The key for me is treating it as an experience and not regretting it.
