I wasn't quite sure which topic to post this in, so move it if you prefer it someplace else. :)

I was staying at Palazzo during the week of St. Patrick's day and playing in the Venetian HL room when I noticed the Gold lounge was closed at 11pm. I asked one of the slot attendants about it and this is what he had to say about upcoming changes to both the Grazie Gold Lounge and Platinum VIP lounge at Palazzo. I don't know this for a fact but he sure acted like he knew what he was talking about.

The Platinum VIP lounge at Palazzo will only have food from 6am until 9pm at night instead of 24 hours as in the past. It will be open 24 hours a day for drinks and VIP reservation.

Starting around April 4th the Gold Lounge at Venetian will have drinks but no more food in the offering. I hope he is wrong about his and they at least have fruit or cookies. According to the employee I spoke to there are too many gold members and a lot of them have been eating all their meals in there so it's been costing Venetian too much money and this is there way of putting a stop to that. He said at some point in the future when there are less Gold members (not sure if he meant because they will be making changes to the number of points needed or what) they may go back to having food in there at that point.

We'll see if what I was told is accurate but during my stay they already went to the new hours for food at the Platinum lounge at Palazzo so some of it at least is correct.

That's sad news...I don't eat there three meals a day but sometimes if I'm on a run playing slots it's nice to pop in there for a quick snack rather than taking an hour and half to do a sit down meal. That was one of the biggest draw to get me to change from Aria to there and their resort/F&B comps aren't nearly as generous as Aria but this little perk was nice...and I love the macaroons! Im going there April 21st so thanks for the heads up.

Well, sad to see but can't say I'm surprised! I always stay on the Palazzo side and as far as I know there aren't any late night places for a snack- like at 1 am or something? If they had to make changes, too bad they couldn't leave at least the Platinum 24 hour food for that reason!

And for the record- I have on more than one occasion opted for a free snack there as opposed to lunch, but every time was in degen mode where I know I more than paid for that finger sandwich and cookie!

I spent a good 8+ hours in the Venetian HL room last week and didn't realize the gold lounge was right behind me the whole time. It just says something like Slot Lounge... even went back there once before I made Gold. Then again, I haven't been to a diamond lounge yet ... just don't even think about it.

I agree for those of us who don't retire until 3am or so it was a nice way to get a quick snack like we did together last month.

I agree, it was a big draw, plus the only VIP lounges there were open 24 hours a day on the strip.

There might be a possibility that one could get a cookie at the Platinum lounge after hours besides a drink. The Platinum lounge will still be available for those who skip lunch, they will have the usual food from 6am to 9pm. However in the future if we need a snack at 2pm I guess it's Grand Lux at Venetian which is open 24 hours.

I'm Diamond too with CET but also haven't made it yet to a Diamond Lounge. By the time I want a drink or snack they are closed as I guess there hours except on Friday and Saturday nights are 4:30pm to 9pm.

I love the Diamond Lounge. It is a nice comfortable place to slow down my degen play for a minute, get a snack and drink then head back out to play. Sad thing is, two weeks ago every night of the week at Harrah's, there was a line to go in at 5:00. An hour after opening.....

If there are lines to get in then I will likely not make it inside even if I finally make it there during the hours they are open. Darn!

For diamond lounges in Vegas they close at 9pm every night unless something changed. Lines start forming before they open at Paris and Caesars. Those are where I mostly go.

The Diamond Lounge at PH wasn't too crowded on Sat/Sun of MM. Went in there for a drink and to watch a game both days and had no problems getting a spot in the back room with the big TV. I think that's probably just bc the PH lounge is somewhat hidden though..

PH diamond lounge is hidden for sure. I have never had to wait for that one. I understand it used to be a club which seems right as it huge. Evoni, the diamond lounges do open earlier on Friday and Saturday in Vegas.

Lots of changes at least for now, though that can change too if enough complain. At the moment you can get drinks 24 hours a day at the Platinum Lounge. At 6am to around 10 or 11am they have pastries. From 10 or 11am they put all the fruit, cheese, finger sandwiches and cookies out until around 1pm. I was gold the Venetian VIP lounge near registration also has soup. From 1pm to 8pm they have fruit and cookies out.

As reported the Gold Lounge at Venetian is now the High Limit Lounge. Food can be ordered and served in there and charged to your room. Not sure why anyone would want to do that but okay. This too may change in the future.

When Mom and I were leaving Palazzo to check in to Cosmo we asked a man at the player's club desk if it turned out she had won anything in the tournament since her final score was almost 30k how long would it be on her card and he said 6 months. I said darn she won't be back until Thanksgiving and he volunteered the information she should give her card to me so I could play whatever she won last trip. Was news to me they encouraged that. He was very talkative and said that in the future things might loosen up in the lounges again but for now they changed it because in the Gold Lounge since it was so easy to get gold level the locals were getting it and taking a lot of their meals in there on a regular basis and they decided to put a stop to that by these changes. Of course if this is true, why the changes to the Platinum lounge? He also mentioned that eventually, possibly not until next year that the points needed to make gold would go up, possibly to 50k points. Of course all is rumor for now but it wouldn't surprise me if points are increased for Gold Level even though currently the main perk for making gold level has been removed.

On a more positive note, the renovations of the rooms at Palazzo start in September with them doing a few hundred rooms a week. My friend who has seen the mock ups says the decor will be light and bright and complements the Venetian rooms (which are already renovated) nicely.

What was the status of the Gold Lounge for the most recent trip there?

It's no longer called the Gold Lounge, now it's High Limit Lounge. Still no food and they try to encourage you to get your drinks outside of the room in the HL lounge. A couple months ago my host told me that late at night by request in the Platinum Lounge at Palazzo they would bring out cheese and nuts, this turned out not to be true, though the attendant was very apologetic about it. The next night my husband and I were briefly playing in Venetian HL room when the same attendant saw us and came over with nuts and cheese plates for us. Unfortunately we had just had dinner and were full. It was a nice gesture and good service but I need a snack after midnight not around 9pm, so I really wish they would rethink this new policy despite the hoards of poker players who were taking advantage of the former Gold Lounge. Yes, that's the latest excuse I'm hearing from all the employees that it was the Poker players who had gold cards that were taking lots of food and eating their meals in there. The story of why they made changes to the Gold and Platinum lounges changes every couple months as I have heard various versions now.

Are there many platinum card holders who play poker? If not, they could have just switched lounges. Platinum at Venetian and Gold at Palazzo.

All I know is that I really miss the food for late night snacks. Maybe they should not have food during meal hours, but have it available on request when the options on the resort are limited with later hours. Like keep it in the back and only offer it when someone comes in, like they serve alcohol.....I guess they were also having waste issues having to throw out food that sat out after a couple hours. I just hate when a few bad apples ruin things for everyone!!
