Due to the airbag debacle still going on you can't change from a leather steering wheel to an all wood only wheel in most import cars. Toyota and lexus to name a few. Not good for vegans...

Now I see these things going for low 20's (a good 10 to 13K off msrp) a year in down in my neck of the woods, I am guessing Toyota / Lexus financial are inflating the residual to keep the lease payments low. I could not imagine buying one of these things and taking a 33% depreciation the first year. I'm the worst since I have traded out of 3 sports cars in the last 5 years, at least I didn't beat myself up too bad since they were all heavily incentived EOMY.

I think though if I was going lease today, I would either do like I did for wife's SUV and shop for the deal or I would pickup a swap-a-lease on a lightly used beamer. Still looking for my lightly used corvette to get me to move out of my Camaro.

Low 20s for a 3 year old CT. 22-23k certified. That's 9000ish over the three years for a 35k car that you can get for 32k ish. That's 250.00 a month for three years inc tax. So makes sense.

For new, between 55 and 63% residuals nowadays depending on which model on Lexus for 36 months...

I'm seeing 2016 models with 8 to 11K miles for 24k out the door down by me. Could be the auctions down here. We are deep in Toyota country.
I had a relative pick up a 2016, with 13K miles fully loaded for around 25K certified. So their losing around 8K a year around central US market, 31% hit first year.

I gotta think Toyota is propping up the residual on some of these. I'd never lease one with any intention of buying it. Surprisingly our CX-5 comes outta lease next year, and it will be the first lease I had with positive equity since they end of lease purchase is lower then wholesale rates here.

packer have you seen any lease deals on the new nsx or R8?

doesn't look like the new nsx is making much traction.

    By the way, hi Funk!
Here are a couple below. It all depends on what's in them. A new 36k ct fully loaded will be selling for about 27k one year later. That's 9k in one year isn't it? NO!! You could buy that new car for 32k ish so it's really 5k. A 5k loss over the first year to me isn't that bad because it isn't a loss, you have been driving it for that year. Any car you buy isn't an investment and as you know will deprecate. The second year you will "lose" another 2k or so. That's now 7k over teo years so only 3500 a year. It slows down after that. Bla bla bla I know you know all this Funk. For me I would only get a new car. The money "lost" over three years isn't enough for me to get used. Plus like I said I'm driving it for those three years so I'm getting the value out of it. [IMG][IMG]

Totally agree with you on the Luxury side. I'd never buy a luxury car, only lease. Some of the deals I see on the BMW leases are pretty sweet for only 2 years in, especially with the money factor at 2 to 3 percent. I was really tempted by a 240i convertible I drove, but the wife would probably be filling the divorce papers 24 hours after I brought it home. Besides I would have taken too much of a hit on Camaro, I got really lucky last april when GM was sitting on 120 days of inventory since the Gen 6 sales were way less. Got a loaded up SS 2015 that had sat in dealer inventory. Between bonus cash, bonus bonus cash, loyalty cash, affiliate incentives, etc I was 10K off sticker before even dealing with trade. Then the icing was walking in the door with pre-approved CU financing so they gave me .15 above the buy rate to keep the financing.
I think I gave up probably $450 in dealer profit on the Gap contract, but I knew that car was going to drop a good 30% in value the minute I took it off the lot. God I love driving this thing, but it will be out of the garage once the power-train warranty is up.

VW finally approved to sell the 2015 tdi leftover vehicles that were stop saled when the the scandal broke. They are only offering 5k off sticker or $8500 off on a 2 year lease horrible numbers for 3 year old car almost.

Many of the TDI fans aren't pulling the trigger

Here is an article about VW Diesels from an automotive site I follow. Looks like the deals are being offered until the end of May.

I have a friend who owned a diesel Volkswagen Tiguan first generation model. He just got VW to buy back his vehicle. He said the dealers were hounding
him in DC area. He probally had 3 different dealerships direct marketing him. VW passed leads to larger dealerships and I guess they are being heavily incentivized to try to get existing owners into new models. He said they were offering him a solid 12K off MSRP off loaded Passat and near zero financing. Plus full warranty from sale date since cars were never titled. This was after paying off the balance on his Tiguan which had about 2k in negative equity. He said it was tempting but he is done with VW's

He ended up getting a local BMW dealer giving him a competitive cash lease deal on an X3.

I'll revive this thread quickly ... maybe I'm just bitter I'm not out in Vegas with everyone this weekend. Maybe work has been too intense lately. Maybe it's a midlife crisis. But a new polar white C43 AMG is mine all mine ...

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the C300 ... I like the new body styling, but, as VM said, this is AMG "lite" or "diet AMG" ... basically a C300 that gets an AMG bump under the hood and with some styling. You can do AMG seats, etc. So while I never really was fond of the C300? I fell in love with the C43. Pick it up today. Wasn't really prepared to shell out for the C63 or the E55 ... because I just don't drive all that much. But this ought to be a nice little around town car. Plus, have to keep my Vegas bankroll up for June!

Trading in an Infiniti G37 ... let me just say, that car has been so good to me. I'll miss it. But this C43 is a shit ton of fun to drive.
