Another trip across the Pond. This time luckily longer than 3 nights. We did several trips this year, but none was longer than 5 nights. Finally we will have enough time to relax.

This trip was originally planned for November after the half marathon. Plans had to change, since I didn’t get more days off from work in November, but wifey and I could get the days off in December instead and now it will be my birthday trip (12/10).

Where (nights): Nuremberg (1), Frankfort (1), Miami Beach (3), Nassau (6), Hollywood Beach (5)
    Airlines: Lufthansa, Swiss, Bahamas Air
Plans: Relaxing, Beach/Pool, no sunburn, NHL, NFL, shopping

Today was the last day in the office before Christmas. Around 5pm I finished all that needed to be done before the holiday.

After a 5h drive and a short break at wifey‘s apartment in Stuttgart, we are finally in Nuremberg. Usually we stay at the Sheraton, but during the famous Christmas Market (Christkindlesmarkt) hotels are too expensive. So we stay at my in laws house.

Tomorrow evening we fly to Frankfort, but maybe we go to the Christmas market in Nuremberg. Then I will of course post some pics.

Hope you’ll enjoy the TR and thanks for following along.

    Have a great time!

Looking forward to Disney World next week myself! And the weather will definitely be nicer than home!

Quick trip to visit my parents (60 miles away from Nuremberg). Definitely don’t like the grey rainy weather, but love the German Autobahn (cruising with 120 mph)

At the Sheraton FRA airport. First stay here (usually we stayed at the Hilton). Very positive so far. Friendly staff, nice Lounge und upgraded room. Not bad for 108€.

Alarm set for 4.15am. Our flight to Zurich departs at 6.30am. Our connecting flight to Miami departs around 1pm. Already excited.

Day started way too early, but it will be worth it. Some may wonder „why driving 5-6 hours from Switzerland to Germany and then flying via Switzerland to Miami?”. We spend Christmas in Germany with our familys and return to Nuremberg (saves us the long drive when jetlagged) and we booked the flight with miles and there was no other option to bring us from Nuremberg via ZRH for the layover. But why ZRH? Could have taken a flight from FRA to MIA.

Our mile tickets are in First Class (only to Miami, back in business) and we took the A380 with LH last year. This year we wanted to try Swiss First class in their new Boeing 777s and see their relatively new lounges. That makes it acceptable to get up that early. That’s the background to the weird routing...

It is now 6.30am and we’re already in our plane to ZRH.

What happened so far? I almost smashed my cell against the wall when the alarm started. We got up quickly and walked over to the terminal. If you have a first class ticket on the same day you can use the First Class terminal (basically a Lounge in a separate building) with private security and a personal PA. That’s quite neat to escape the masses and a great start for the holiday. We had roughly 30 minutes there, but that was enough for breakfast.

Excellent Eggs Benedict and great food overall

Great bar, but looks weird without bar top video poker at least good drinks and you don’t need drink vouchers. All free.

Nice lounge pics! Maybe I should switch from BA to Lufthansa. Have a great time and looking forward to the rest of your TR.

Good stuff so far! Have a nice flight!

I got a kick out of this. I often have bad taste in music and always thought this song was catchy. "Bienvenido a Miami." Lol

Love the song. It’s super catchy and I can totally relate to that

Arriving at MIA, the airport announcement always reminds me of the song. The “welcome to Miami” has the same rhythm as in the song.

Unfortunately not all lounges are that nice and you need a first class long haul ticket. But the regular Star Alliance Gold and Business lounges are nice as well. Especially if u travel via London, the Lufthansa Lounge there is one of the best within Europe.

Checked out the First Lounge in ZRH terminal A. Pretty crowded for a first class Lounge. Just had a water and used the shuttle to the international terminal E.

Heading to the gate in about 15 minutes. The Lounge in E was quite nice, although I prefer the Lufthansa lounges.

    Again eggs benedict

Also went to the Star Alliance Gold Lounge. Paradise for whiskey lovers. They have over 100 Whiskys. And in Europe you don’t have to pay for any of it. Not even tip.

Looks like good food and drinks for the next 10.5 hours. Starving and being sober is not an option and very unlikely
