    Circa Resort and Casino.

Announced this evening. Apparently VSIN live will house out of there as well, in addition to South Point.

    Thanks for the link.
Ambitious, looks great and quite a change for downtown.

Is it just me or is that a terrible name that also makes no sense?

"He said the Circa name is a nod to the great eras of the past, and the resort will deliver a new experience built on original old-school Vegas hospitality. He hopes to blend modern luxury and cutting-edge technology with service honoring the city’s golden ages — circa 1940, circa 1980 and, now, circa 2020."

Honestly, I can't think of any casino with a worse name. Pretty impressive, they immediately went to the bottom of the list on their first try.

I think 'The D' is a worse name.

Hell, I can think of hundreds of better names for a rock band than 'The Beatles'. But in the end, all that matters is the product. If the Circa Hotel & Casino is stellar, then it will create it's own following & no one will care about the name.

I’m indifferent on the name, not great....not awful. But the renderings do have me excited. Hopefully it means strip level amenities but still giving a downtown vibe. Hopefully we can parlay some comp stays elsewhere and get to stay here.

I don't really love the name either but that's a great point about the Beatles. Never thought of it that way haha.

I think it looks really impressive. I agree if they deliver on what they have planned, the name won't matter. I thought Cromwell was really stupid, but I like the property anyway.

Agree with most here. Terrible name, but like the renderings!

Of course another big question is, will they new able to pull in major strip-level spending customers to downtown? Not holding my breath!

I completely agree with his statement about the CP sports book and Hilton sports book so I will go there just to see the Sports book.

I'm less concerned about the name and more interested in what's being planned. If they can correctly execute even 80% of what they're promising the resort is going to be outstanding.

Of course, there is the question of whether or not it will be a viable gaming destination, except for sports betting, that Sports book could be awesome, I'm leaning no.

Yeah the name is the turd in the punchbowl. 18 Fremont was a way better name, too bad there was a Fremont already. Regarding The D, that is slang in my circle for having to go to the bathroom, aka " I gotta go take a D".

Now good things I like about the project.

    - Sportsbook looks great
    - Pool looks great
    - Interior looks great
    - Hotel tower is set back from the FSE
    - Parking and main entrance looks great

    Dumb Stuff
    - Exterior doesn't blend with downtown, looks like Palms Fantasy Tower design reject
    - Name sucks, I expect a re-branding like The Quad once they figure out it doesn't draw from strip and conventions

At least in the renderings it looks like the Fremont Street level facade blends in well with other casinos, lots of lights.

The rest of the hotel tower does not.

The other thing I thought about, the TV faces to the east and the tower faces the west. Isn't the tower going to reflect a bunch of light
back on the giant pool display? What about a potential Circa death ray (ever been on the DTG pool deck?!) unless this is already addressed in pre-design plans, I imagine its going to be HAF on that deck in the summer.

The TV faces north and the tower faces south. But there's still death-ray potential. :)
