Some general notes from this trip as it was less action packed outside of gambling. I’d received a nice offer from Caesars for 5 comp nights and 2 tickets to the Who concert. I’ve started going to see some of these concerts and they’re always a great experience. I figured with the Who, I was running out of time to see them so thought I’d better get it done now. I’m also trying to stay at more places on the Strip and had never stayed at Caesars so I could check that off my list too.

Pictures can be seen here. Mostly slot wins and room pictures. Haven't gotten around to adding the video files with The Who concert yet :

    May 27-30

I’d booked a reward ticket for first class on Delta, leaving Austin at 8:30am and getting to Vegas by 11:30am, via a short stop in Salt Lake.

Woke up at 4:30am for some reason and checked my flight. Turns out it was delayed 2 hours so I immediately got onto Delta’s app to look at other options. I only had a 40 minute layover in SLC to begin with so the delay would have caused me to miss my connection. I was in luck and was able to rebook a quick flight through LAX, also in first class! It left at 7:30am so I threw my stuff in my bag and headed to FastPark at the airport. A short shuttle ride later and I was in the terminal with my carry on bags.

Security was a breeze and I waited at the gate for maybe 30 minutes before boarding. For some reason, I decided to gate check one of my carry on bags… The flight to LAX was uneventful and I kept checking the flight from Austin I was originally on to see what was going on with it. By the time my flight from LAX had left to Vegas, my original flight was delayed over 4.5 hours! I was already lucky. While at LAX, I was able to call Caesars Palace and have the car pick me up and hour earlier at Vegas. It’s funny trying to explain to someone that your flight was delayed but you’re going to be getting in an hour earlier!

The driver was waiting for me at the bottom of the elevators and of course, Delta’s baggage carousel is the furthest one away. After waiting what felt like 20 minutes, my bag finally came down.. It was still one of the first ones; just busy and they had bags from an Atlanta flight going onto the same carousel at the same time. I felt a little embarrassed that I’d checked such a small, light bag and then the driver was wheeling it though the airport. We head down one level to the limo’s and I get in the back. Standard limo with just water in the back but still nice to have bottled water.

Got to Caesars after taking the tunnel and was dropped off at what I think was the Octavius valet area. It’s right near the Diamond lounge and the Diamond check in. Go into the Diamond check-in and there’s about 20 people in line. My luck continued here as the guy that was working the door quietly said ‘come with me’ and he took me to some other registration room (Julius maybe?) and there was absolutely no one there. I was checked-in in no time, into Julius Tower room 794.

Head to the elevators, which are actually pretty central and up a few floors. I realize that I have what feels like a 5 minute walk from the elevator to my room but it probably wasn’t that bad. Walking is good in Vegas anyways so no complaints. The room was really nice; bathroom was marble, shower was awesome with a rain shower head and a separate wand. I wish I’d taken a picture of the controls because it was the weirdest controls I’ve ever seen.

Bed was extremely comfortable; room felt very modern. I had a bit of a view of the High Roller but other than that, it was mostly rooftop and bill boards back.

I really just gambled the rest of the day and did pretty good. By the time I went to sleep, I was up about $800 playing various penny slots up and down the Strip. Largely all Caesars properties except for some time spent in Casino Royale.

    Saturday May 28th

Woke up nice and early and this day was mostly about gambling. The morning went pretty terribly overall. I was betting anything from 2.50 to 8.88 depending on the machine. My biggest ‘win’ was just over $200 in the morning and that didn’t make a dent in the losses.

I went down to Paris and had their breakfast buffet which was a good as it always is. No complaints with it at all. After about 5 hours total of gambling, I’d had enough and decided to check out the Caesars Diamond lounge, which opened at noon.

The Diamond Lounge at Caesars is nicer I think that the one at Planet Hollywood and I’d definitely go back in again. The seating also seemed more comfortable and the tv’s and such were really nice. The drink service was also outstanding and I got heavily involved in the crown royale. After probably an hour and a half, I was feeling pretty good and was ready to make another attempt at a comeback. Well, the lounge did it’s trick and I had some pretty good luck the rest of the day. I didn’t get back to even for the day but I probably won back about half of what I’d lost in the morning, which was acceptable.

I do recall I made my way over to Harrah’s and I ended up winning back about $400 on Buffalo, Then I was feeling lucky still and took a shot at Wicked Winnings II and made back about $500 on that. I got sick of my surroundings here and drink service wasn’t the best so I headed over to Casino Royale. They had a couple of Fiery Sun Burst games (Extra I think they’re called) and save that the mini progressive was just over $49 and it had to pay out before $50. I decided to chase it due to feeling lucky still.. Well, I’d built my $100 buy in up to close to $125 when I hit the Maxi jackpot for $461. Very nice but I was after that mini! Ended up going down about $55 before it hit for $49.29 so I’ll take it just for the excitement.

Played a few more slots at Casino Royale and did pretty good on them. The community fishing one which is against the wall facing the Strip is always good to me and if it’s full of people, the bonus hits pretty often. While I was wondering out, I noticed that the other Fiery Sun Burst machine next to the one I had been playing was just under $49 so I thought I’d take a shot at it. Well, I don’t know how long I spent playing but I think I spent about $150 to actually get it to pay out. It finally paid out the mini at $49.99! Lesson learned not to chase those until they’re a little closer. That endeavor cost me about $100 but it was still their money that they got back.

I believe I got some Smash Burger for dinner and then headed back to the room and went to sleep around midnight.

    Sunday, May 29th

The day of the concert! I actually really hate waiting around for events and things…just a personal issue. I’ve never had a lot of patience for waiting around. Today was more gambling and I started at Caesars on some new Wheel of Fortune machine. I don’t remember the exact name of it but it seemed more gimmicky than the normal ones, which was what peaked my interested. The major annoyance with this machine was that the seat was attached to the slot and I couldn’t really get far enough away to be comfortable. I played probably 5 spins and was already uncomfortable when I hit the bonus! Bonus was interesting with a wheel spin, which resulted in free games. During the free games, I ended up winning about $190 and then I had managed to spell out ‘Wheel’ during the bonus so I got to spin the extra bonus wheel. There were anything from credits up to a 10 times multiplier. Well, I landed the 5X and had a quick win of $935 to start the day!

I believe I headed back over to Harrah’s again and hit up the same Wicked Winnings 2 machine I’d had good luck on the day before. The luck just kept going on this. Hit the respin feature for about $150..then I kept hitting the 2 flames for 15 free spins each time. The first bonus, I won about $40 on it playing max bet of $5. Second one, I ended up winning $577 and retriggered on the last spin. Ended up with a total bonus of $618. I played a little Zeus 1000, more Wicked Winnings 2, Britney Spears.

Had lunch at Planet Hollywood. Not sure what happened or why but they ended up charging me 1 cent for the champagne brunch? I have no idea why..didn’t use my reward credits or anything and I ended up with a room charge of 1 cent at Caesars for it. Was pretty excellent with sushi and all the normal food they had. I also had a couple of glasses of champagne which were also included.

I found my ‘weakness’ slot machine at Planet Hollywood; Rock Around the Clock. As you may know, I won’t $5200 on one at Paris last year and I’ve been chasing it again ever since. Well, with the luck I’d been having and having not seen these machines in this location before, I thought I’d take a crack at it again. I finally triggered the bonus and got the Fortune Racer one which you need to get red cars on to move spots. For red cars, you move forward a few spots..if you don’t get a red car, you move back 2 spaces. Well, I was almost eliminated from it when I got almost a full screen of red cars, which moved me 17 spaces forward. It also paid about $280. I won the Major jackpot with a multiplier which gave me about $70 on top of that. I’ll take it!

Went back to the Britney slot at Paris, where I always have luck as well and won a few hundred more.

I wanted to be back at Caesars around 3pm to pick up the Who tickets. I don’t know how they actually hand out the seats so I figured I’d go early anyways just to be sure I got them. Was very pleased with the tickets, in the Rear Orchestra 2 (which is the 2nd section back from the stage) and they were face value of $326 each!

I plodded around Caesars for a while longer and then met up with a local friend I was taking to the concert. We went to the Diamond lounge around 6pm and there was a 20 minute wait to even get in. I guess it’s because of the concert mostly and people pre-gaming. Well, we did eventually get in and service was outstanding but we were sitting at the bar. I was having crown and cokes with a bud light to water things down. My friend was having crown on the rocks and a bud light. His crown on the rocks was literally a glass of crown on ice. We each had probably too many in a short period of time and then got travelers for the walk over the Colosseum. They wouldn’t let us in with the drinks so we had to stand outside of the venue and finish them off, which wasn’t a problem.

Tickets were great and the concert was awesome! They played for about 2.5 hours and started promptly at 7:30pm. Didn’t really have anything else during the show except a beer that my buddy bought me.

After the show, my friend and I went separate ways. I went back for another Smash Burger. Never have burgers so having 2 in such a short period of time is very rare. Writing this reminds me I need to write a Yelp review. I ordered and it was at least 30 minutes until my burger and fries were ready. I ended up having to complain at least twice with people ordering after me getting served before me. If they were just getting drinks or something, I wouldn’t care…but they were ordering more than me and more complicated things. I literally just had a bacon cheeseburger and fries. Well, when it was finally ready, I went back to my room and noticed they’d given me 3 orders of fries along with my burger. No idea what they were trying to do (bribe me?) or if they were just that messed up that night but I just couldn’t eat that many fries..

    Monday May 30th

Up bright and early again. I usually don’t gamble my last day but my limo wasn’t going to the airport until 2:30pm. I went and had it moved up to 1:30pm as I was a little concerned about it being Memorial day and security lines being longer than usual. I hung out in the room until the last possible second at 11am. I did call down early in the morning and tried to get a late checkout but due to occupancy, they weren’t offering comp late check or even paid.

After 11am when I went out of the room, I decided I’d had such a good Sunday, I was willing to risk a couple hundred more. I decided not to use my slot card though because I didn’t want to bring down my ADT. I think sometimes knowledge is too powerful and really wonder if it would have an impact but I wasn’t willing to chance it. I found slots I wouldn’t normally play and played them; in some cases..not even for max bet! I haven’t bet less than max bet in probably 11 years. Even when my budget was smaller, I’d find slots that had lower maximum bets rather than playing less than max.

I spent a lot of time on a slot called Lightning Link. I wish I’d found this earlier in the trip rather than an hour before I left because I had the best luck on it. Funny story because 2 older ladies came and were sitting at the machines next to me. I was hitting bonuses every few spins and I could hear them whispering. One of them got up and left and the other one started talking to me. I guess they had been playing the machine I was on and ran out of money so they went to a bank machine. One of them could only withdraw money in the morning and the other in the afternoon. They were having good luck on the machine but then it turned for them. Well, I sat down when they both went to the bank machine. I did really good on this slot and ended up $200. I was up $300 at one point but gave some back. Last slot I played, I put a $20 bill into a Triple Star machine and hit a bonus for $45 on it. Nice way to end the trip with another $250 win over a period of an hour or so of gambling!

Flights back to Austin were both turbulent. The one to SLC I don’t recall there being drink service on it and got back to the terrible humidity of Austin a little late…12:30am on Tuesday. Shuttle got me back to my car a few minutes later and then back to my apartment just after 1am The work the next day was painful since I was in the office at 6am.

Next trip - July 16-19th for my birthday at the Cosmo! First stay there.

Great trip report, I enjoyed reading it! Was the Lightning Link games you played at Caesars? Last time I was there they didn't have it so I'm hoping they have it now and you weren't playing at a different CET property. :)

Nice report and pics! They put a similar shower design in the Linq rooms. CET is trying to make things sleek and modern lately.

Re: mini jackpot of $49...I hope you meant you spent $55 chasing the mini, excluding your maxi hit! I never find progressives that high! And my home state of Missouri no longer allows these games!!! Mini of $49 is likely positive...and would be positive if you hit the maxi with it!!! ;)

And gambling on the last day. I thought I read somewhere that on a comp offer checkout day counts as a gaming day always? Or is it only if you don't completely settle your bill before the end of the gaming day before checkout? Is Hunter on this forum??? ;) Do other CET people know??

Great report! The pics were fantastic- you seem to play a lot of the same machines I enjoy! Funny on the lightening link machine - we did the same thing finding it on our final hour of play one trip. Glad you managed to get a win out of it, they really are fun machines. Overall it looks like you had many good bonuses- always nice to keep you playing!

Sounds like CET really took care of you this trip- glad you enjoyed the show! Thanks for sharing!

Wishing you lots of good luck on your upcoming trip in July!

It was at Caesar's. The layout of that place is as confusing as heck to me. If you find the Julius tower and your looking at the elevators for it, the noodle place will be right in front of you'd the lightning link machines were to the right about 40 feet; bank of 4 of them. The 2 on the right when looking at them were paying out. I played the one on the far right.

I actually felt weird not using my card. I probably shouldn't really even care about it enough to not use it lol.

I never have liked Caesars layout. I've got lost in there a time or two.
Well if it saved you from a gaming day, then it was worth it. Not totally sure it did though.

The layout actually reminds me alot of MGM which I find terribly confusing too.

My experience has been that even if you don't gamble on check out day, it will be a gaming day since you are taking a limo that will be comped. Any comp will incur a gaming day. Your check out day would be viewed as a no play day.

Sounds like a great trip. I don't like the attached seats that don't move either. I can't get them close enough to sit comfortably.

Thanks for explaining where it was, including which were the hot machines for you. I'm not sure if I missed it when I stayed there last in March or if it hadn't been installed yet.
