I think Willie is right, skip Heart Attack and get a burger in a lettuce wrap somewhere. You'll most likely enjoy it more, and not get 24 hours of diarrhea.

Yup, probably right. Honestly I have been thinking about the driving route and it would be difficult to drive through vegas, especially during WSOP time, and not stop. Probably go the slightly longer, more interstate route.

I do eat a lot better now, and will continue to do so. We don't do restaurants as often as we did, but when we do go, it is pretty easy to order things without a bun, or order double veggies instead of potatoes. I order way more salads than I ever thought I would but even those you have to check the ingredients closely. A lot of salads are worse than a double cheeseburger.

I am going to have some type of a cheat day to celebrate at 100lbs. It may be having pasta dinner, or maybe a cake from the store that I like, hell I may go crazy and do both! But it will be a cheat day, not a cheat week. And anything like that will likely end up in some gastro distress, so probably safer at home than on the road :).

Time to get to the gym before going to work.

    Morning weigh in 201.8
    Down 1.6lb this week

Only got two workouts in this week due to having a training class this week that I had forgotten about. Diet was pretty much spot on and I added having a small bowl of vegetables before breakfast and lunch. Basically I add some raw broccoli, cauliflower and carrot mix into a small kids size bowl and eat that about 20 minutes before those two meals. I have some no fat, low calorie ranch I dip them lightly in just to add some flavor. It only adds about 50 calories total to the meal, but leaves me fuller. This is in addition to the fruit and veggies I was already eating with all three meals.

Down 4.2lbs this week, just under 85lbs total now in 17 weeks. Should be down 100lbs total in 4 more weeks. I am glad that things are still going smoothly. I was nervous as I approached 80lbs down as that is where I have stalled out before, but all seems to be going well so I am going to just keep doing what I have been doing.

I have my Endocrinologist appointment next week, so I had labs drawn today to review with her next week and see if there are any changes that I should be doing with the meds (Diabetes, thyroid) that she prescribes to me. My general practitioner happens to go to the same gym that I go to and I see him there every once in a while, so when the pharmacy called about some of the meds I am on through him (blood pressure and cholesterol) he had his staff call me. I told them my labs were done this morning and that I will follow up with him after the Endo. I am sure that the BP meds need to be reduced as I am light headed every time I stand up now. I have to stand still for a few seconds before walking or I am afraid I will black out and maybe fall down. Cheap and easy quick buzz though!

I bought more clothes this weekend, so that I have a full weeks worth. I feel so much better in proper sized clothing that it bothered me to wear an 'old' outfit last week. I will go back when my coupons are good and get another week's worth. There was a recent special where for every $75 you spent you got a $25 coupon redeemable for every $75 you spend during that time period. I am still where I have to shop the big and tall store, but I like the stuff they have so no biggie.

I will be flying alone for the first time in many years in two weeks. Returning from taking the MIL's stuff to AZ. I am not that anxious about it, as I know I wont need the fat guy strap this time! Plus if the poor bastard who got the seat next to me seems irritated, I will just tell him to be glad that this wasn't 6 months ago when I was ~100lbs heavier. I still try to be as courteous as possible though in that situation. I know I am big and always book an aisle seat.

Haven't decided on the route for the drive yet, but will not be stopping for the free burger. My wife and I went out on Friday to the local cardroom for food and to play a little pai gow. I ordered a burger, no bun and sub cottage cheese for fries. It wasn't good. How do you F up a burger? My wife had one too and also had some digestive issues. Burger patties are a regular item in my diet for dinner and occasionally leftover for lunch and never have issues when I make them at home.

Not sure how my body will react to the two days of driving with no gym time. I have a desk job so I am used to sitting most of the day anyway. I may go for a walk when I stop if it isn't horribly hot. I guess I will have the sauna portion of my workout included then.

One weird thing that I noticed recently. The actual mirror reflection now matches what I have seen in my mind when I looked for years. As I continue on it will be even stranger as it changes and gets thinner.

While I am over 100lbs down from my known high point, it was 85lbs for this 'session' if you will. Sorry for confusion in my last post. I am an engineer, so the data is important to me, but I occasionally stumble on the non-technical writing.

I will be doing an 'unofficial' weigh on on Saturday morning though, as my MIL is having her birthday/retirement/moving party on Saturday. I will see extended family that I haven't seen for a while so I am sure to get the questions, and I want to have an accurate answer.

Found out today that bananas are much worse off for you than many other fruits. This is based on the glycemic index. I always thought sweeter fruits would be much worse but such is not the case. I guess they're not bad per se but there are much better options when it comes to eating fruits and losing weight.

In an effort to improve (try anyway) my lab numbers in regards to my kidneys I've done lots of research.... One food that keeps popping up in resaearch is raw red beets...

They help produce nitric oxide which opens wider the blood vessels and I need that around my kidneys.... Beets also have many benefits for healthy folks too.... I put the raw beet in a smoothie 5X a week with parsley, celery, cucumber, blueberries, pomegranate juice, goji juice, cranberry juice...and ice water.. all in my Ninja...

Down 4.2 again this week. Still working out almost daily, although I did have two skip days this week for the first time. I started allowing a skip day once a week several weeks ago. I think that I need it occasionally because the first day back I am much stronger and get a better workout in.

We had the party for my MIL on Saturday. At the party I had some chips and salsa/guac. I also had some of the pre-made salads. I had some of the pasta salad, but didn't try any of the potato salad. I didn't have any of the deserts, or bread. I just had meat and cheese slices rolled up with mustard, like I would at the office for lunch. The goal is to lose weight, but also to learn to eat moderately so that I dont end up in this position again. Losing a bunch of weight by restricting stuff, meeting the goal, and then going back to eating how I did will not work long term.

I head out on Saturday morning for the drive. I will miss at least three days of working out. I will likely go for a walk when I stop for the night just to work out the kinks from a long day behind the wheel. I will have a cooler for water in the truck, and probably put some snacks in there. Boiled eggs and cheese slices. But I will have to eat on the road for two days. Not a problem.

Watching what I eat and getting to the gym is still important, but have other important family needs that require attention. I will be happy if there are no gains in the next month. I will likely not be as chatty for a while. I dont like cryptic posts, and sorry for doing so, but in case there are people who actually like reading my weekly word vomit, I just wanted to give a heads up that while I am fine, I have other priorities that will likely pull me away.

@gmille58 why so many ground beef patties instead of chicken breast or fish? I'd think that there would be better options that appealed to you and would taste better than a patty without the bun? I don't know how diet friendly they are, but sometimes I grill the large portobello mushrooms and eat them like a burger and think they make a great substitute, that surprised me.

Update.. First, glad and proud all of you are doing so well. Keep it up.

Started the diet last sept. Stopped lipitor. Stayed on the diet for four months then stopped. Lost 25ish lbs (10%) and got to 225. Went to the vitamins mentioned earlier in 1.0 and 2.0... Last five months or so just been maintaining. Afraid to go for a blood test so haven't since dec I think.
Haven't weighed myself in months. I feel heavier than ever. Feel like I gained all the weight back plus more. I must be 270 today?
Went to colorado last weekend and went to the spa. Little boy saw a huge scale there and of course wanted to weigh himself. He came in at a strong 72 lbs.. I said I might as well know the bad news and I stepped up on the scale. Put the large weight up to the 250 mark and the little one to the 25lb area.
It didn't move. At that point I knew I was less than 275..
Slowly moved the little weight down to 270 no movement. Moved it down to 255 no movement. Cool..
Then moved the big weight to the 200 mark and the little one to the 45lb mark and still no movement phewww.. Brought it all the way down to the 230 mark and it balanced out. I was thrilled and really surprised. So unbelievably I maintained my weight without really trying. Now need to motivate and lose more. Also need to do the blood test asap! Haven't ate the cereal, sou or ninja blender in months. Starting again.

I grew up in beef country I guess. They are also simple and quick to make, and leftovers work well for lunch. I just put a little mayo and mustard mixed for a sauce and I like that.

I eat pork as well occasionally. I do eat fish and chicken, but I have never been a big fan of either as just a grilled chunk of meat, and the sauces that make them palatable to me are usually higher in sugars. Now that I think of it I could probably cut back substantially on the added sauces. If I eat chicken it is usually grilled and put into a Caesar salad, or I make a buffalo style sandwich. We did smoke up a batch of chicken breasts the other day and they were tasty. When we go out for a nice fish dinner, the place we go does an excellent job with the grilled salmon, and they have several types of toppings that go very well with those. Come to think of it the mango salsa my MIL had at her party would be great on grilled salmon. And the fresh Alaskan salmon is in the area now. I refuse to eat the farmed salmon.

I am looking forward to July when the crabbing season opens in the Puget Sound. Love the fresh crab meat, and I eat that alone, or use it as salad toppings or omelet filling on the weekends. I will miss the crab Alfredo sauce over fresh pasta, but oh well. Three months of fresh crab is awesome.

Yes, everyone needs to stay away from ALL sauces/dressings. Ketchup, mayo, bbq, 57, A1, alfredo and so on. Mustard is good and the hot sauce I use. Use lots of garlic, seasonings and pepper you should be good to go.
I mix these two 2:1 chick to the beef. 2lbs chick and 1lb lean beef. Doctor it up with herbs, pepper, fresh toms, garlic, onlons, vegis, olive oil and some other secret healthy ingredients lol.

You are doing really well. I hope you didn't think I was critiquing, I wasn't. I was just curious why the beef patties. I like beef too! Lol Oh and the crab and salmon and salsa sounds awesome. I love hot peppers so much and they are the only condiment I need on a lot of my meat!

I guess it goes back to what you were raised on for a lot of things. We used a lot of burger when I was a kid. My parents knew ranchers that would have it cheap regularly. When you are processing a side of beef, there is a lot more burger than there are 'good' steaks. We would get it for basically the processing costs from them.
Where I grew up the beef would meet most of the organic requirements, but most farmers vaccinate. That is one thing about the beef in the cities, you don't know where it came from. For years I would get a half a beef from a friend from high school, but that was when i had people who could deliver it on their normal travels. I am getting a whole hog from my brother this year, as his step daughter is in 4H and raising one for the fair, so I said I would take one if he wanted to raise a few.

We didn't have chicken as often and it was often overcooked so I didn't like it. Fish was never purchased but we did do a lot of fishing, and at times the water temps made the fish not so great, so I didn't like a lot of that either.

As I get closer to my final goals I will start looking more at cutting back on beef, as it is the least healthy of the proteins. For now though, losing the weight is the priority. I think of this in a similar way to the kids who wont eat veggies unless you put cheese sauce on them. Is it better to eat them with cheese, or not eat them at all?

One other reason for patties is that I can have them on nights the rest of the family wants other things that I wont eat at this time. Pasta, Chinese, pizza, etc. At first when my wife would make baked goods, she would hide them to not tempt me. I am past that now.

I didn't take offense. My only thought was maybe that you were suggesting that beef isn't the best choice, and chicken or fish would be better. They probably are, but I am still losing weight at a pretty good pace. I see my Endo on Thursday, so I will go over my labs. I am interested to see how much the regular exercise has affected my cholesterol levels. I think that exercise raises your 'good' cholesterol, which has always been low. It should also show the other 'bad' numbers as lower. We will see.

@Willie, you mentioned beets to me in reply to my post. I think it was deleted by you? Anyway, any kind of beet? Hate beets. Growing up My parents would eat cold beet borshed or whatever it's called. Ever since then I can't even look at beets. Gross! Lol

I couldn't agree more on the dressings/sauces, although I still do use BBQ sauce, but not enough to really make any difference. I do love my hot sauces for my tacos though. I always am surprised at people eating salads and bragging about how healthy their eating habits are, but absolutely drown the salad with creamy dressings.

I rarely eat beef anymore, with the exception of a steak if we go to a nice restaurant. We eat quite a bit of turkey. It is all we use for our tacos and burgers(99% lean) and it seems to work for us. We also use baby spinach for the greens in the taco and it works quite nicely.

My weakness is sugar(desserts) and cheese...holy shit do I love cheese. Not all of them, but if I like it you better hide it.

I shed my excess weight years ago by stopping so many captain and cokes.
