    Truly disappointing response from Cosmo.

Some companies seem to have this mentality of alienating a customer because they can. Believing that it’s just one customer, what’s the harm, there’s plenty more that will come through the door.

It’s a slippery slope once you start that line of thinking. Next time they will make another decision that will alienate another customer and eventually it will pile up and their reputation along with it.

Please don’t let them “win” by feeling awful, you didn’t do anything wrong!
As others have said, it’s an expression of power and control by Cosmo.

They chose to make a business decision, knowing that you will most likely make an emotional response in return.

Instead, it’s your turn to make a logical decision.

It’s frustrating as a player to feel alienated by a casino. They can basically make you feel “small”. And for many of us, we do have an emotional attachment to where our friends and we play because of habits over time.

Continue to play there if you enjoy it. And of course, there are other places you can play as well. Who knows, maybe this is an opportunity to win jackpots at other places!

It’s about you, your valuable time, money and what makes you happy. Don’t make it about them or let their actions continue to bother you.

Continue to write your WONDERFUL trip reports, and if it’s at Cosmo then give whatever info. you can.

Trip reports tend to share more winning moments and less losing moments because of natural tendencies. It creates a bias perception in the favor of casinos. It’s kind of obvious, and I assume casinos know that trip reports are essentially free advertising for them.

I don’t play slots and skew my readings to table game trip reports. However, because of all this, I looked up and read your amazingly detailed trip reports. Wow, thank you so much. Such great effort and generosity in sharing…

    I found

    and

I really enjoyed reading them. I love being educated and increasing my slot machine awareness in your trip reports.;)
I’ll keep an eye out for your future reports!

My opinion is that your host underestimated your involvement and personally with this board. I think he figured wth his little "talk" that you would scale back on the postings, not relay the new info. Seems a bit of a chauvinist. I think you may have enlightened him to informed gambler.

Hope this doesn't dampen your fun in Vegas.

IF you decide to stay and/or play ever again at Cosmo, I hope you request to get a different host beforehand. The asshat you're dealing with now doesn't deserve to have you on his roster.

Please keep posting TR's, we all enjoy them very much!

Percentage hold on slots do matter to competitor casinos. There was a casino in Reno that was sending an employee to competitors and using a key or card that would display % . If it didn't matter, they wouldn't do this.

Thanks, all, for the kind words -- very much appreciated. :)

Since this all started with my hosts boss reading my posts on this board, I don't feel comfortable saying much more about this or my future with Cosmo at this point, unfortunately. Kevin is a prominent person here and has been since before I joined and I can't imagine that he will stop reading all of a sudden.

If time allows tomorrow, I'm going to try to write up a trip report for last weekends trip, IF I can remember everything after my brain getting all jumbled through this mess. It was a big losing trip for me, so it probably won't be a very fun or interesting read, but I'm going to try to get back to what this site is supposed to be about!

TwoArmedBandito -- I totally get that. I just don't see how it can be figured out what each machine I played is set at since I'm not sitting on one machine for hours. The theo given is for over many, many, many different machines in the days play, not to mention that it's slots AND video poker play and at all different denominations. Their stance is still total BS to me.

My luggage arrived today via FedEx! Just in time for tornados and severe weather to blow through. Luckily it didn't get soaked or blown away. My two cans of Pringles that were in the gf's canvas bag even made it. Haha. Crumbs but tasty!

Now I've got the TITOS and chips to cash. I guess I'll take care of that at worst in June. ALMOST booked a trip for this weekend (I'm turning into @pphold). The round trip was $98. But I held off. Alas....

I thought Cosmo was no longer owned by a bank.

Just enjoy the next offer and play somewhere else. Then tell the host since Cosmo cannot give you their theo then you cannot give them your money.

I agree. I read your past posts. No way to really figure out what slot is set to what%. You can get overall % on a small sample of different denomination all mixed together.

I don't see how even that would be possible since I'm not stating the coin in on each machine I play, just overall coin in on everything I played that day.

YES - That's the whole thing! You can't determine the hold from the way you post your stats! I would LOVE to know the hold %s but I don't even try to figure it out from your stats, it can't be done. I just like to see the overall ratio of coin-in / theo and also theo / actual for your trips, to compare to my own.

Totally. Is Venetian/Palazzo worried about it? Their whole point system is based on theo. You can figure out the exact hold on any slot in the place.

I think it's less that and more Cosmo is doing it because they CAN.

While it's true what some have said that you don't sign a non-disclosure agreement with the casinos you do basically give up any and all rights to your information when you sign up for the 'loyalty programs'. The terms are very vague, and very broad in terms of granting the casinos control and power over your information, likeness etc.

Even the sections where they claim to "protect your privacy" really allow them to provide your information to any company they see fit. About the only thing they cannot do is discriminate against a federally protected class.

It's also clear that, contrary to how players feel, the information that the casino provides on coin in/out, average bet, theo etc. is not your information but THEIR information, that they are providing to you as a courtesy. Not as something you are either entitled to or have any rights to. In fact, it's pretty clear in the terms and conditions (I read the ones for Identity last night) that you retain very little in the way of 'rights' over your gambling information if you sign up with them.

So, the question becomes "what can they do?"

    The answer is "plenty".

First, they can cancel one's membership in the program for any reason they see fit, again provided they are not acting in a discriminatory manner. Second, they can uninvite you from playing in their casino for just about any reason they choose. Violating the terms and conditions would qualify. And yes, they could (not saying they would, but they could) decide that anyone who participates on the Vegas Fanatics board (or commented on this thread for example) is no longer an Identity member or invited to play in the casino without any discrimination worries.

IMO a big part of receiving the largesse of the casino is that you have to play by their rules. It's one of the worst industries in the world in regards to how they treat their customers. The kicker of it is that they don't care. Because there's always 10 others that are willing to pay for the rooms they're giving away in a queue behind us.

To be fair, it's like that with most companies these days. Customers are a collection of data and dollars that are marketed to using some pretty complex formulas. If anything the casinos continually use the fairly simple carrot/stick approach of dangling free stuff in front of our noses and then whipping us when we chase it.

I would hope that you keep doing live TR's, just leave the theo out of it and all should be well.

And I'd keep going to Cosmo as well if you like it. Maybe request a new host because I think the relationship with this one is damaged beyond repair, but no matter where you move the results are going to be the same because the casinos are all the same.

This statement from them is the biggest load of BS. You know what would really hurt them? Taking play elsewhere. I just have no tolerance for this kind of stuff. They're not treating you like a customer at all.

I like the Cosmo....or used to. The wife and I had a great time visiting there in January. Now I feel like I shouldn't even step foot in there with the way they've been treating costumers.

Although the Cosmo has taken several bad hits lately on the forum I have to say I've always been very happy staying there and the staff at all levels have been very kind and accommodating to me. I'm sorry some have had bad experiences but my own experiences have been so positive that I can't imagine staying anywhere else.

Honestly, I'm not that smart! lol I'm detail oriented and like to keep track of as much as I can. That's really about it. I do agree that their argument is complete nonsense.

Right. I brought Venetian/Palazzo up in the conversation with my host yesterday. Bottom line is that if Cosmo wants to take this stance, they can, and there's nothing I can do about it.

I agree with almost everything you said, except that my stats are my stats. I believe the IRS would agree that they are mine. lol

I'm not a huge player, but I have been giving Cosmo about a third of my play over the last couple years. I'm sure it's not much to them. I had been thinking about giving them more of my play, though.

I don't want my experience to stop anyone from doing what makes them happy!

Exactly. You should go by your own experiences.

All these kinds of things should do is keep us on our toes and remind us that in a casino/player relationship it's all about the casino's wants and needs, not ever really ours. They are the ones in control.

To me, the issue is that Cosmo seemed not to have been concerned about how they presented this issue to one of their loyal customers (especially one who acts as an asset who recommends their company to others).

There are ways to present adverse things to a customer in a neutral and sensitive fashion, rather than the heavy-handed, accusatory words that Cosmo employed.

And that casino was also rightfully fined $1,000,000 by the gaming commission as a result. So it definitely wasn't worth it in the end.

But I personally think publicly issued revenue statements should be given for individual casinos by game type as well as denomination for slots. My home state of Missouri and many others require rod, so then Cosmo wouldn't need to act like this is some major fucking secret. Because we would easily know their penny slots returned 8X.XX% or whatever.

Their response to their actions is pathetic imo. And even if those at CET and Mlife tried to use these data points to their advantage, I can almost guarantee they'd still fuck it up somehow. Especially CET, they love to make head scratching decisions.

So this!!! They just set most of their penny slots to lowest manufacturer setting and "fuhgeddaboudit". But with a great hotel and a good location to the convention center, no way they're struggling by losing "savvy" gamblers.
