    Hi,

Just a quick newbie question here. I have a stay at Cosmo booked for November via a UK tour company. I am already a identity member from previous stays but my question is, can I add my identity number at check in to this type of reservation?

On a previous stay I added it at check out and the points credited were not what I was expecting on spend whilst in resort. I know that I am unlikely to earn credits for the room rate, it’s more the spend I’m interested in, meals and drinks for the family add up over the week. My logic is if I can add at check in the spend should credit correctly.

I’m a low roller but am hoping to hit at least sterling with coin in and hotel spend.

This is my first post so please forgive me if I have posted in the wrong location as this is kind of a hotel question also.

It certainly can't hurt to ask. In addition, considering you're booked through a third party (and thus potentially not eligible for much in way of comps), you can just manually hand over your card when you eat/drink so they can swipe it for the points.

If you're spending at the resort you can also just take the receipt to the Identity desk and they add the points then

Adding your Identity number at check in should work, but I suppose there's a chance that your entire hotel folio is blocked from points in a 3rd party booking.

@44inarow 's method is probably the safest - pay with cash or credit at the point of purchase and give them your Identity card at the same time.

@Goldenknight 's method will work too.

You'll only earn points on your resort fee, not the actual booking.

One of my first trips to Cosmo was booked through a UK travel agent and I only collected resort fees. I did however earn enough points through casino play and food/beverage to reach Sterling and I've stayed there since. Maintaining it can be hard but having had 2 trips in quick succession I've managed it this year again with the help of a gift card purchase recently.

I'm not a high roller myself but I've managed to get a few comps over the couple of years, I usually ring up and ask though.

You can also log into your account and check your activity to make sure points are being added correctly, sometimes it can take a few days and other times it is instant.

    Thanks for all your replies.

Based on experience with other hotel chains, I had expected not to earn points on the room rate and thanks for confirming this @mcc192.

Last time I stayed with Cosmo I used a mix of the above methods but gave my identity card over upon check out. A few days later some points for spend were added, but certainly not equal to my folio paid by me a check out.

My main concern is I have two rooms booked and I am bankrolling the kids, it would be easier if they can add all their expenses in resort to my room and I collect the points. This is not so easy with cash as I have to be present.

Probably what you got was points earned on the final night/checkout day. It's somewhat of an indication that adding your number at check-in should work.

I don't know how long ago your previous stay was, but Cosmo's website now details your points accrual by date, it's been in place for almost a year now. There's a little bit of lag time, but it updates usually within a day.

@Chuck, it was a 18 months ago. The website appeared back then to just have a points balance from what recall.

I think I will try at check in but for peace of mind, for big ticket bills, family meals etc where I am picking up the bill I will do cash/card and hand over my identity card.
