I Started 3.0 so we can keep track of all the previous information. This way it will be easier to go back to 1.0 and 2.0 to find much needed information.
I implore anyone who reads this to go back to 1.0 and 2.0 and read through. Some really great help with diet, supplements and motivation.
Please share with us your stories of diet, weight, exercise, supplements, food and how you have lost or gained weight over the years. Also let us know if you are planning a life changing way of eating/exercising or you have already been doing this over the last many years.
Remember, eat to live don't live to eat! One exception, when in Las Vegas, go for it!

    Sorry but here it goes...
NONE OF US ARE DOCTORS. I/WE ARE SIMPLY WRITING WHAT WORKS FOR US/ME!!
This is obviously a very popular thread with a lot of great information. I (packer) am in no way, shape or form telling you or advising you what to use or take as far as foods, supplements and or meds. I am letting you know what works for me alone. That goes for all of us. Remember, some of the supplements or even fresh organic foods might not be as good for you as it is for me. For instance, turmeric may be harmful in large amounts and it is a organic root... It is up to you to do your homework. This thread is set up for us to help and motivate each other through talking, ideas and our own experiences..
Ty and keep up the great work!

For those of you who do want to eat healthy in Vegas and stay on track Canyon Ranch Grill at Venetian/ Palazzo has great healthy meals. I tried it once and it was good but only once since I honestly do give in to the great restaurants Vegas has to offer. Does anyone else have any go to places for healthy eats in Vegas besides juice bars?

I haven't gained any weight but been cheating here and there. Tomorrow I will go back to the diet 100%. Took little Packer to Rams game today. His first time at a pro football game. Also his first time to the Los Angeles memorial coliseum. I haven't been there since the rams left 20 years ago. Fun day with great hot dogs, popcorn, bbq beef sandwich, hambuger, beer, fries and ice cream none of which I ate. I did want 4 hot dogs but didn't do it. Tomorrow chicken breast, hot cereal and 69 bean soup.

@Willie, your stomach has shrunk. I don't think you can eat as much as you think. That's a good thing. 220 cals ONLY! I hope you know what you are doing. I'm looking forward to your maintenance. You gotta eat man. That being said, good for you on the focus and discipline front. I wish you health.

I'm Suzanne, female, 56 years old with 40 pounds to lose. The excess weight makes me feel tired and old. Looks are important to me, hope that is not a bad thing to admit. I'm more inclined to lose the weight for the sake of appearance than health, my bad! I'm lazy at this weight, but when thinner I'd exercise , sometimes like a fool for hours. I own a treadmill, climber, cycler, step and a bunch of tapes including Jane Fonda and others. I belong to a fitness "club" which I haven't attended in months. There is no reason for me to be this heavy other than pure gluttony, and I'm so finished with that. I swear no one could be as cruel to me as I am to myself by stuffing my face for pure pleasure. Cheesecake, lasagna , patty melts, cosmos, fresh baked bread with butter, etc etc etc. AGH. So, with 3.0 I've started the task of loving myself enough to get back into health. I think I just got lost for abit thinking eating good means treating yourself good, but for me it sent me down the path of gluttony. I'm so walking backwards down that same path until I find the path I should have stayed on in the first place. Salads, Salmon and Soups, I'm back :)

Great stuff. It's so easy once we get to an age of being able to do what we want some of us go down the gluttony road. Once we experience that road it's hard to get of that path it seems. For millions of Americans and others who are on that path they must know it's the path to an early sickness or worse yet we do it anyway. All we can do is put our minds to it and try to be healthy. Not try, JUST DO IT!
Good for you SUZANNE and others here. I salute you all.
Now on to my red mill warm cereal, 69 bean soup and fricken healthy smoothies to lose 20 more lbs (give out take) and then maintain for the rest of my life.

I ordered an Apple Watch last night. I'm planning on slowly training and building back up to a half marathon. I ran the Las Vegas rock n roll half a few years ago. Now I'm looking for some good wireless headphones to go with it.

I am going to start with the couch to 5K routine as most trainings start with assuming that you can run 3 miles without stopping. Building that initial base is the toughest. When I was running regularly building up to 3 miles was tougher than going from 3 to 6. And the first mile of any workout was the toughest before getting into a rhythm. Patience is key and sticking to the plan. I am hoping to run the 2017 Las Vegas Rock n Roll half. We should know the official dates in a couple of weeks as the 2016 edition is next weekend.

YOU WON'T LIKE MY REPLY, SORRY AHEAD OF TIME.....

I commend you for the words that you used in your above post. I used those very similar words 42 million times in my adult lifetime. Sadly, words mean """zero"""".......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could be wrong, but I can sense in your posts recently that you do love yourself, however it comes across to me that you are also lenient with yourself. It is good to be gentle with ourselves a little, but our inner selves are like ""Good Cop,,, Bad Cop"""".... If we let the Good cop inside of us win all the time, we eventually lose .... same in reverse...

But, you have let the Good Cop win so much more often that you gained 40 lbs. NOW, you have to let the BAD Cop win more often until you lose that 40 lbs....
We all want and need to be a "Coach" for each other here in VF land. We, by nature as humans, are somewhat fragile at times. I, as one of your many coaches, would like to see you be harder on yourself and more disciplined with regards to weight loss...

At 56, you are heading into territory where the rest of your life depends on the decisions you make now. Your body is not old, but you and I and others are not 21 either.
Men's and women's hormone levels and potency of those hormones diminishes greatly and in some cases increases after age 50 for all genders. . This makes it harder to lose weight. Young people like Dvanentop would not lose weight quite as fast if they were older like you and I and Packer... We will lose a bit slower as are our hormones are at an advanced stage. This is life....

In our 50's and 60's is where we lay the foundation for our QUALITY OF LIFE for our remaining years.... Quality biologically means our weight too.... So many bad things happen when we are overweight, we all know this...especially if we are older and overweight..

So, young lady, as one of your many Coaches here on this thread, I say you need to stay after practice and do more drills and search your soul to DETERMINE what you REALLY REALLY want to do...

Packer, Dvan and I know that after 30 days or so, you lose most of your appetite and are not really hungry anymore. you are then in fat burning mode, ketosis...
Aren't you worth 30 days.?????? If words alone could have us lose weight, I'd weigh 90 lbs. YA GOOTA DO THE TIME ...

Chart yourself a menu for the next 30 days... Be tough on yourself... TOUGH LOVE.... no sugar, tiny amount of sodium....

Find your RMR # and TDEE # so you will know exactly how much weight you will lose each day, each week.... Don't put too too too much emphasis on exercise. It is only one tool.....Some use exercise as an excuse to eat more .they justify this in their mind. . I've lost 124 lbs. with zero exercise. It can be done.

YOU BE IN CHARGE OF YOU.... Know how many calories, carbs, how much protein, sugar, sodium, you are eating each day.... you need .34 grams of protein per lb. of your ideal body weight. .

You are at a critical point in your life. .. How you handle it will dictate much of you health future...

Talk time is over,,,,,, it is ACTION time...
    regards,
    Coach W

Agree with the above. I lost 9.8% of my body weight with really no exercising in 8 weeks or so. It was all due to the food, supplements, sleep and help from here. However, I am now exercising. You see the heart is a mussel and needs to be worked out. My ligaments, joints and mussels need to be stretched and worked on some.
I'm losing weight but I don't want to do this and look skinny in the casket god forbid. So exercising note for me. For you I 100% agree with my pal @Willie, it's about the food, supplements, discipline, mind over matter and loving yourself and family enough to follow through and do as we have suggested. Then exercise as gravy for now.

I agree that exercise is a tool. A useful tool.... Because of my decades of obesity, I have "concerns" that do not allow me the luxury of exercise ...

These "concerns" are what I would like others to avoid while they can.... Negativities from being overweight and/or obese can catch up on us and have negative consequences. ...

Sometimes we can hope to repair things in life, but sometimes repairs only go so far...so we adapt as best we can... Isn't life about adapting...??

Boy, this philosophy stuff is perty cool stuff... I gradiated collige, but I philosofize better today than back then...lol... time to write a book...lol

SMOKING,,, interesting article on smoking and weight...

    c&p and then link ..

Smoking and obesity are leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide (1, 2). The co-occurrence of overweight and smoking has substantial consequences for health. According to the Framingham study, the life expectancy of obese smokers was 13 y less than that of normal-weight nonsmokers (3). In the same cohort, one-third to one-half of obese smokers died between the ages of 40 and 70 y, whereas only ≈10% of normal-weight nonsmokers did so (Figure 1)..

ease into the psyllium each day for a week or so..... try for 15 grams a day when your body adjusts.. drink 3 or 4 extra glasses of water a day now more than previously.... The chlorella you can go full dose right away.... your urine will get shiny for a few days and maybe a bit darker as you evacuate years of toxic metals....

Dvan, I can say that of all of the supplements I take, I love the psyllium the best....I feel so free and young inside.... Packer, are you up to 3 to 4 teaspoons a day yet and do you notice the difference too.??

Dvan,You can save the toxic metals and offer them to MGM on your next Vegas trip if the machines are not kind...lol

depends on your bottle..... on my bottle 4 grams is one teaspoon, so about 4 teaspoons is 16 grams... check your bottle..... you don't have to worry about sudden craps with the psyllium, it is not like the magnesium shitrate in that regard, you stay in complete control of your bowels with it...

Grimaldi's pizza in 4 weeks, can't wait...If I have leftovers from a large pizza pie, will Aria let me bring the pizza box through the casino and up to my room.? TY
