What to Expect if you Take too much Fish Oil?
You should expect minor, harmless and temporary side effects like:

    • Fishy burps
    • Bloated feeling
    • Indigestion
    • Unpleasant taste in mouth
If you develop a rash, you may be allergic to fish. If you notice difficulty breathing, hives, swelling of tongue, lips or throat, get emergency medical help at once. These are signs of allergy. You may be having an allergic reaction to fish oil or something else that you just ate. It could be a dangerous condition. Go to your doctor right away.

But for most people, the side effects of fish oil are from taking low-quality products with potentially rancid oil.

Is there a Risk of Bleeding?
Smart people in lab coats argue about this. The risk is theoretical. Even if you take super high doses (10 pills or more) of fish oil, new research shows that bleeding time is not prolonged.

This study indicates that 3 to 6 grams of fish oil per day ‘does not seem to create a statistically significant effect on the anticoagulation status of patients receiving chronic warfarin therapy.’

This 2014 review concluded that ‘omega-3s do not affect the risk of clinically significant bleeding.’

Here is a scientific explanation from the smart folks at Purdue University.

Inuits don’t die from paper cuts
For what it’s worth, the average Inuit person in Greenland eats about 13,000 mg of Omega-3 per day. That’s the same as taking 43 Walmart-brand fish oil pills every day. Or about 13 OmegaVia pills. And they are doing fine. Matter of fact, they are better than fine. The elders who still mostly eat traditional high-fat foods made from marine mammals and fish have better heart health than we do. And they’re all not bleeding to death after getting paper cuts.

    Edit this list
Results for the following 2 drugs:

    Lipitor (atorvastatin)
    Interactions between your drugs
There were no interactions found in our database between Fish Oil and Lipitor. However, this does not necessarily mean no interactions exist. Always consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
    Fish Oil

Try to limit to a low level any citric acid juices while taking lipitor... it states below about interacting with grapefruit juce.

    Lipitor and fish oil/...
    Lipitor

A total of 384 drugs (1668 brand and generic names) are known to interact with Lipitor.

    Drug and food interactions
    Moderate
    atorvastatin food
    Applies to: Lipitor (atorvastatin)

Grapefruit juice can increase the blood levels of atorvastatin. This can increase the risk of side effects such as liver damage and a rare but serious condition called rhabdomyolysis that involves the breakdown of skeletal muscle tissue. In some cases, rhabdomyolysis can cause kidney damage and even death. You should limit your consumption of grapefruit juice to no more than 1 quart per day during treatment with atorvastatin. Let your doctor know immediately if you have unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness during treatment, especially if these symptoms are accompanied by fever or dark colored urine. You should also seek immediate medical attention if you develop fever, chills, joint pain or swelling, unusual bleeding or bruising, skin rash, itching, loss of appetite, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, dark colored urine, and/or yellowing of the skin or eyes, as these may be signs and symptoms of liver damage. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

So, if any of you remember back in February in Las Vegas I hurt my knee. When I got home I went to the doctor, he performed an X-ray, and said that he thought I had an MCL sprain. Diagnosis: Rest and heat.

Fast forward to the beginning of June (over 4 months later) and the knee has still not healed. Now the thought is that I have a torn meniscus so I've got an MRI scheduled for Wednesday and an appointment with an orthopedic doctor on Thursday. My assumption is I'll have to have surgery performed sometime either before, or right after, my Vegas trip June 20th. I'm probably going to push for after because I can limp along, provided I don't have to go up or down many stair cases.

At this point however I just want it to quit hurting.

That sucks but I hope it turns out that they find nothing. If you have to have surgery at least the pain will be gone. Good luck to you. I would go to Vegas before too!

Health has definitely been the topic for me lately. First my 11 year old daughter started having seizures....as many times as I’ve seen it as a nurse, it’s scary as hell when it’s your child. So I’ve spent some time at the Children’s Hospital in Syracuse. [IMG] Took them 3 tries and I was about to punch someone! [IMG]So uncomfortable for her and there’s just nothing I could do to make it better.
Today, my father is having cancerous tumors removed from his liver, kidneys, stomach and bladder at Vanderbilt hospital. I couldn’t be there, so still waiting to hear how it goes. Life is just so so short and every year, I say all the things I want to do with certain people and don’t follow through.... follow through people as you just never know. Anyway I was thinking of you all and wishing you much success in your weight loss endeavors and success in all areas of your lives.

You and your family are in my warmest thoughts, Heather!! You are so right, be there for the people you care about and live life to the fullest, cause life is finite.

Good thoughts going out to you, too, Willie! Be proud of all the wisdom you give out to any who wish to follow, and the knowledge that you have been the catalyst to helping others become healthier. You have been, and still are, going through many tough health battles... stay strong!

Thank you Steph for your ""always"" kind words for me and everyone here.... Glad your trip was so special this past week.. I loved following along...

My sister just went from 243 to 187 lbs. in a very short time. she is 69 ... she kept carbs under 125 a day and ate lots of strawberries. We burn more calories and carbs digesting the strawberries than they add to our weight... She is 6'1" tall and was a beauty queen when she was younger.... That is why i'm so handsome, I guess..lol...lol.

I just read that airline prices will jump significantly in the coming months with fuel prices climbing.. Grab tix now before they go crazy...

You take care Steph,,,,, you're one of the "good Guys & Gals" and you bring joy to those that you touch.. Thank you..
