I went to a party on Saturday night, drank too much and ate very unhealthy. You'd think I'd get right back on the wagon but didn't. Seems once I fall it takes a few days to get back to it. Today is a new day and I am looking forward to a September Vegas trip so I WILL meet my goal to lose 20 pounds. I intend to focus on meat, eggs, butter and cheese. In the past this worked for me, no grains and no veggies. Sounds unhealthy but I always feel fantastic when carnivore. I will also walk a few miles and lift some weights, daily. I have my plane tickets purchased and intend to look my best as I am pushing those slot buttons in September. If travel costs go down I intend to sneak a few more trips in before and after September. Yahoo Vegas!!

Hi NDGal, I know how hard it is to maintain a weight loss with all the delicious foods available to us, I admire your willpower. I enjoy eating and can be weak. Frustrated with myself when I cave but I am wise enough to stop before it gets too out of control. Why oh why does food have to give me such enjoyment. The eating out, the drinking, the socializing, the drinking ;). I just really enjoy it all! Luckily Salmon is one of my all time favorite foods, but Patty Melts are also so so good. Definitely intend to enjoy a Patty Melt at Ellis Island in September. NDGal keep up the good health and continue to keep with this thread so we can slap your hand if you try to reach for the HoHo's....do they even still make those things? Here's to smart eating.

Hello Packer, Father of this thread. You cannot fail yourself in this health area, it is not allowed after all the encouragement you provided to others. Willie was another force, I also hope he is doing well. Did you eat somewhat healthy in Vegas? Have a good time? I'll take a look into the trip report section incase you posted an update. Good health to you !

I went out for drinks and dinner last night at a local bar. Stuck to the wedge salad only...no burgers and fries. Does anyone else find it easier to eat healthy when the weather is warmer, though? It seems I only want salads when it's hot out. It's the winter months that are a challenge for me. Though the desire for the occasional ice cream in the summer time is a bit of a challenge...

Yes and no. If you saw what I ate my size would be surprising. I can pretty much eat whatever I want, so long as I’m active. So a combination of exercise, however limited, and diet.

I eat salad before almost every dinner, winter or summer. I’m in cold weather a limited time during the winters, but still try to eat salad.

I use baby carrots in my salads, and to me they seem filling, so anecdotally I think they help me eat less unhealthy things.

Back to one of your points, I do think I eat less healthy when I’m in colder weather in the winter.

I’m about 6’1”, 217 lbs fwiw. Which is probably slightly too large, but not bad.

I agree it is easier to eat lighter during the warm and humid months. However, I do love a good salmon salad , and eat this year round. I visit Maggiano's about twice a month and always order the small chopped with an added piece of salmon. Large enough to be filling but not low calorie due to the dressing, healthy though!

Low activity, my number 1 problem. I walk a few miles daily ( 2 - 10 ) but I need to start resistance work to build up strength and endurance, My husband and I visit Vegas a few times each year ( minus 2020 ) and always walk downtown. I sometimes struggle in the heat and during one of the last visits, husband had to give me a horsey some of the way. AGH! I promised myself this would be the year to preserver and I will, already have my resistance bands and hand weights. I'm ok with my weight, not terrible at 140 and 5'6 but I am small boned and truly look my best at 115. It's more about strength and endurance at my age, although looking good is a great incentive.

Golfer, I'm thinking you're in good shape. The weight and height sounds right to me!

It’s slightly overweight. But frankly almost all Americans are overweight. Maybe all humans at this point. But I do appreciate the compliment, I’m in pretty good shape as compared to what I see elsewhere.

I think probably a word needs to be said about being thin, and that being attractive. I’m not sure most men or women prefer overly thin, and I’m not sure they don’t prefer a weight which often symbolizes security and success. I’m not sure, but I think this could be accurate.

I don’t know. I date women quite a bit younger than me, so the possibility is always in the back of my mind that it might be another factor. But people these days don’t really make a good attempt at hiding their agendas, so who knows?

Overly thin or overweight does look good on some.
There are many factors involved in finding a partner or being a partner, IMHO physical attraction is as important as having an enjoyable personality and similiar interests.

guess you could say I was lucky (sort of). I'm diabetic. At the beginning of 2021 my Doctor put me on Trulicity. One of the things this medicine does is to get rid of my appetite so I lost weight in 2021. 35 lbs. Went from 210 to 175 lbs. I'm 5'6" so I still need to lose about 15 lbs. I work out at the gym so I still want to keep muscle mass so going down to 160 is about all I want. It was strange because I lost most of the 35 lbs in the first 6 months.

Unfortunately I tore my achilles in January of this year. Was wearing a walking boot for over 2 months so I ended up gaining over 7 lbs because of the inactivity. luckily I started doing cardio at the gym the past few months so I lost about 3 lbs so keeping the weight to under 180. Also unfortunate but my appetite loss disappeared when I lost the weight so right now it's hard to lose more weight.

The one good thing... the last time I was under 180 was in the early 90's so I haven't been this weight in over 27 years. The bad thing....I have to buy new clothes because I was wearing XL and XXL shirts and pants for the past 20 something years. Now I can wear size 38 waist pants with no problems, can even fit 36 waist pants but it's a little too tight for me. My A1c went down from over 9 to only 6.5 now so I have the right numbers for my diabetes now. One other problem, I have these folds of skin around my waist and the chicken neck looking thing around my neck. Maybe if I get down to 160 I will get surgery to remove the excess skin?

I also don't eat as much, eating an in n out single cheeseburger and fries and soda fills me up all day. McD's big breakfast fills me up until afternoon. Buffets are out of the question (unless I get a comp) because I can only eat a small plate of food.
