FYI.. FIRST OF ALL, NONE OF US ARE DOCTORS. I/WE ARE SIMPLY WRITING WHAT WORKS FOR US/ME!!
This is obviously a very popular thread with a lot of great information. I (packer) am in no way, shape or form telling you or advising you what to use or take as far as foods, supplements and or meds. I am letting you know what works for me alone. That goes for all of us. Remember, some of the supplements or even fresh organic foods might not be as good for you as it is for me. For instance, turmeric may be harmful in large amounts and it is a organic root... It is up to you to do your homework. This thread is set up for us to help and motivate each other through talking, ideas and our own experiences..
Ty and keep up the great work!

Part 2... Let's continue the discussion here. That way, if we need any info from the first 500 messages it will be easier to find. Please refer to the old page to answer some unanswered questions.. We all have helped each other immensely. You don't have to be over or under weight to follow. This is for everyone to gain the knowledge for living a healthier lifestyle. Eating healthier, exercising and a positive mindset goes a long way! Ty

Today is my 4th day home from the long weekend in Vegas. I gained 5 lbs over those 4 1/2 days. As of this morning I lost all 5 lbs. 15 more to go.

    Here is the original thread.

Side note... Kudos to @Willie who has lost more than 100lbs! Thank you for all your help, knowledge and support on these threads.

I actually lost weight this last weekend. Usually gain a few back in vegas. My stomach was wrecked from all the drinking during my work trip then vegas. I barely ate and when it felt better, I drank again (sprite is easy on the tummy and cherries count as food, right?)

I never made it all the way through the other thread, but congrats for all of you that have lost! I lost about 20ish since this time last year or so. Keep thinking about trying for a few more. Since I did in vegas, trying to keep it up, down another 5 total. ; )

Awesome DS! Good job. You know, I guess if we just eat pretty healthy and do some exercise we should be ok. It get harder add you get older.
    Just remember this...
EAT TO LIVE DON'T LIVE TO EAT! Except in Vegas of course! Lol

Thanks. I have a super easy approach. More vegetables mostly (just make sure they are available at dinner especially). Try to drink water (ok, tea). If I eat out, even drive thru, which is pretty frequent, don't eat everything. Who cares if I eat half and throw the rest away. Few other small changes, but that's most of it!

I eat if I'm hungry, eat whatever if I have a craving (just maybe less). This somewhat oversimplified lackadaisical approach if you will won't work for all but it works for me. : ) relatively small effort. Slow steady results when I actually put in that little effort.

With health issues a month ago, I stopped drinking dt. Dr Pepper (unrelated but i was desperate at the time and just stayed off even after we figured it out). That was probabaly a good call. Sadly I have like 4 cases in the fridge now though haha!

I had a good feeling you would lose very quickly the Vegas Gain weight. It takes about 15 days to completely exit ketosis once ketosis has been established....
CONGRATULATIONS.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When do you think you'll have the last 15 pounds off..??

Also, thank you for the kudos...... It would have been easy for me to quit about 25 lbs. ago, but you and dvan and others re-ignited my motivation...TY...

as of last Monday, 117 lbs. lost since March 1st........ I'm 229.4........ 212 hopefully by thanksgiving.....for 6'10" not too shabby..... Then my Vegas trip is approaching in December... OMG I could be 300 lbs. by New Years....!!! I used to scare the crap out of the buffet managers whenever I went to buffets in Vegas...
    I had a dream that I ate 3 large pepperoni pizza's and gained 200 lbs.......lol..lol..

speaking of food........ I loved my Mom, but she wasn't the greatest cook, so in our house we prayed AFTER we ate.... lol..lol

@dvandentop, 194 is awesome. Just keep up the good work and you will be down another 20 in no time. Remember, it's about being healthier and living longer isn't it? We are in for the long haul and unlike Las Vegas we can win!

You hit to get that NINJA! You well piss like a racehorse. All the impurities go bye bye and replaced by natural healthy nutrients.

Willie, we have been communicating for a pretty long time now. Many have seen me and dvandentop in person and know us so it's your turn my friend.
Yes, putting you on the spot but with your new change this too is part of it. As I have said it isn't only losing the weight is a mindset too. You are now secure with who you are so go for it.

    copy and paste.............excellent read...

SCIENTISTS HAVE KNOWN for years that animals live longer when they lose weight on reduced-calorie diets or when fasted.

The metabolism of a healthy body consists of two parts: the breakdown and excretion of cellular waste (catabolism) which the body normally keeps in balance with the assimilation of nutrients, water and oxygen that buildups and restores the body's cells (anabolism). However, when more food comes into our bodies than can be completely metabolized and eliminated, a net gain in bodyweight in the form of body fat and toxic waste occurs as surplus material accumulates. Our bodies' excretory function lags behind. However, excretion is stepped up during the process of losing extra weight through calorie restriction or fasting. Accumulated deposits of excess waste and body fat are thus eliminated and cellular life is renewed.

Calorie restriction and leanness facilitate the removal of toxic accumulations of cellular waste which increases cellular longevity. Regardless of the exact cellular mechanism by which it works, one thing for sure is that weight loss, either through fasting or calorie-restricted diets, increases longevity. Longevity is thus another benefit added to the list of health and wellness benefits offered in a sound weight management program

I agree............ The only photo I have on my computer of me fat was from about 2004....... I was on the beach with my wife in Daytona Beach Florida...I weighed about 410 lbs. then...But being 6'10" I didn't look too too too obese... but I was...

Being fat, I was always shy with photos.... This weekend I'll get a neighbor to take a few photos of the new me.... Hopefully I can find out how to transfer the photo from my digital camera to my laptop.... My wife always was good at the technical stuff....I haven't used the camera since she died in 2008...

If I can download my new photo to my laptop, I don't know how to load it to this site...... Maybe I can e-mail the photos to you Packer as an attachment and you can put them on the site....OK.??...

    Thank you Packer,
    Yes and no.......
My wife died of Cancer in August 2008...... She was my best friend Sweetheart and I was devastated....

My promise to her at her funeral was that I would lose the weight........ BUT I DIDN'T HAVE THE TOOLS...!!!!!! And I was an athlete in high school and college,,, an All-American in college,,, then 400 lbs.. a few years after college...

So, 2008-2009 I ate fish or chicken every third day........ In 11 months after her death, I went from 415 to 245................ But I did it wrong and starved myself..

    So in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, I went back up to 346 lbs.....

Last New Year's Eve I cried out to God to please help me lose weight, but this time the RIGHT WAY.... So during January and February 2016, this year, I asked God to direct my research to show me how to lose weight in a more healthy fashion and keep it off on a new lifestyle..

I sifted through all the lies and myths on the internet about weight loss and the scum people who just want to make money off of fat folks selling their snake oil...

On March 1st, this year, I started again with NEW TOOLS..... Have gone from 346 to 229..... I HATED being fat..... My wife never got to see me slender... never..!!

Now, I believe that God wants me to try and help others with weight problems.... I have about 14 people around the country that have honored me with allowing me to try and help them....
they are really helping themselves though. I just share the tools that I've learned and try to MOTiVATE....

We are supposed to be the best we can be in all facets of life..... being healthy is one of them.....

That's awesome @Willie. Glad you did it the right way. It's all about balance I think. I was in the ER last night and that was definitely a wake up call. I'm overweight but I've exercised and been active my whole life. I'm only 31 too. I'm about 5'10 and weigh around 210. It's always been a battle for me. I go through stages where I eat healthy and work out everyday and then I seemingly quit for one reason or another and put some weight on. I really need to be consistent in my approach.

@IP King hope you are feeling better after your ER visit last night.....We are all here to support each other.... We, in this world, are all human with human good points and sometimes human flaws too....I think sometimes we need to forgive ourselves for the times we mess up...

A good tool is knowing your RME number.......... this will give you a precise measurement of how much weight you can expect to lose daily, weekly, monthly..
scroll down in link and put in your info and you receive your RMR #..
