FYI... NONE OF US HERE ARE DOCTORS. I/WE ARE SIMPLY WRITING WHAT WORKS FOR US/ME!! I (packer) am in no way, shape or form telling you or advising you what to use or take as far as foods, supplements and or meds. I am letting you know what works for me alone. That goes for all of us. This thread is set up for us to help and motivate each other through talking, ideas and our own experiences.

    Ty and good luck!

With 70% or more (by end of 2016) of America overweight and obese I thought I would start this thread. Here are some stats..

VM and people like him (bones and mussel) don't have to read this. Lol

This thread is for all weight related talk. Heavy or not. Tall or short. You, your kids our your patents we all have something to say about weight, food and exercise.. Hope you can put your input here.. TY

More than a third of adults (34.9 percent) were obese as of 2011 to 2012. More than two-thirds of adults were overweight or obese (68.6 percent). Approximately 17 percent of children and teenagers (ages 2 to 19) were obese from 2011 to 2012, and 31.8 percent were either overweight or obese.

    Obesity Rates & Trends Overview

September 21, 2015: According to the most recent data, rates of obesity now exceed 35 percent in three states (Arkansas, West Virginia and Mississippi), 22 states have rates above 30 percent, 45 states are above 25 percent, and every state is above 20 percent. Arkansas has the highest adult obesity rate at 35.9 percent, while Colorado has the lowest at 21.3 percent. The data show that 23 of 25 states with the highest rates of obesity are in the South and Midwest.

High school students According to the 2015 Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS), 13.9 percent of high school students were obese, and an additional 16.0 percent were overweight.1 The information from YRBSS is based on a survey of participating states and uses self-reported information. State obesity rates among high school students ranged from a low of 10.3 percent in Montana to a high of 18.9 percent in Mississippi, with a median of 13.3 percent..

So you know, my parents basically died of complications due to being overweight.. Diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and many other issues. In their 50s the 5 bypass open heart surgery, blindness, gangrene in my dads feet, gout and other crap. It was pathetic and very sad the last years of their lives...
NOT ME my DEGENERATE Vegas friends! I eat better than they ever did. Exercise more than the average guy my age. You see they come from a different time and era. My parents grew up in the 40s, 50s and 60s. By the time they hit 50 (1975), they were going down hill but mobile. My dad Bed ridden by the time he was 65. Mom at the age of 73. They new nothing of healthy eating while growing up. Dad died at 68 and mom at 77..
Not me or any of you! We exercise, sleep and eat well don't we?
The last 10 years for me my body has changed. I was always 6'5" 235. Now I'm 250 but back then it was all mussel now it's mostly fat.. Can't help it. I run, play golf, walk (try to do everything my very bad back from sport's let's me do) and try not to be stagnant but can't get my body the way it was 10 years ago and that's ok. My goal is to live long. I'm doing it for me, my 8 year old and Vegas trips! I started a life-changing diet today. Before are some items I take and eat. I'm not endorsing anything but this stuff is good for me and safe. If I eat well and exercise I should live for many years to come! This diet will also get me down to 225 ish... For me it's a percentage, want to lose 10% of my current weight.

Also this is now a way of life and it's good for my 8 1/2 year old see me ding this along with him participating.

So, How do you all feel? Healthy?

    How much do you weigh?
How much would you like to weigh?
Do you want to or need to lose weight?
    Do you eat healthy now?
    Do you exercise now?

Myself, dvandentop and willie have been on similar programs.
Willie down well over 100lbs, dvan down about 20 ish so far and me well I'm down over 5 but just started. They both posted this so it isn't any surprise.

    Good luck to all!

comfortable where I am right now, eat decent and workout 4-7 times a week between gym tennis and golf - would I like another 5 lbs off? yes but at my age I feel like I'm chasing the dragon there and will instead just fight like hell to maintain where I am - my wife and I push each other a ton in this area, we both know we could lose 5 lb more but also know those days may be long gone

Good luck and good start packer.

Down to 206 today from 223 started back on the 15th. Hopefully I can keep average of 1lb to 1.5lbs a day til I meet my goal. Damn can't imagine last time I went 2 weeks without a drink let alone a whole month. Will prob have 1st drink in Vegas Sept 22 to pop the cherry gonna make it special with a snozzberrys lol.

Do some 30 minute walks 2-3 time a week but sometimes too much exercise is a hinder more then helpful I have been told.

The process for me hasn't been a big shock more of a change of life since I am on the road everyday no I just pack a lunch each day rather then drive through everyday.
Cooking better meals for dinner each night and smaller portions.

    Thanks for posting Packer!!

I started a diet Monday and have already lost 2 lbs. Hoping to lose 15- 20 pounds before my Vegas trip in October. The diet I am on concentrates on smaller portions which requires me to weight my portions - it also limits breads. It seems to work for me because it keeps me focused on specific foods (e.g. 2 protein, 2 veg etc.) and has me drinking lots of water.

It has been somewhat hard since I'am enjoying vacation time off work with my family. But I keep an eye on my October Vegas trip date.

Within the past year, I have lost 40 pounds, and I'm proud to say I have been successful in keeping it off. The secret for me is exercise. The more you exercise, the more you can eat :). I use my treadmill, my mini stepper, and have a 30 minute floor exercise routine that I switch between. If a few pounds come back on, then I immediately go back into diet mode until those pounds are lost again. Typically I do try to be good during the week, so I can be bad during the weekend.

I would like to lose another 10, but haven't been too successful at that!

Good job to those who have lost weight, and good luck to those who are working on it!!!

I've lost around 30 pounds over the last 18 months and kept it off. I did it be walking my dog 3 1/2 miles every morning and counting calories. Recently I've gained about 5 pounds back which is really disappointing. I'm determined to get them off this month. There's no secret to it. Burn more calories than you consume. I really wish I was younger and had higher metabolism! I love sweets! I should probably try to lose another 10 after getting the 5 off but I'm reasonably happy with where I am.

Started this diet really on Monday. The secret is no secret. As some said less calories more exercise. But it is more that that, sure if you burn off only 200 calories a day that's 6000 calories a month burned and you will lose weight. It's also what types of foods you eat. I'm totally cutting out sugars and carbs. Now good sugars are ok in moderation so are good carbs but I'm really trying to cut it all out except I will have fruit. By vegas on the 29th should be down 15- 20 lbs. Yes some water weight but mostly fat. Looking forward to that. In Vegas at the end of this month if my back doesn't hurt I will run my usual 2,3 miles. If not I'll walk. I will eat and drink as if I'm not dieting at all and start over when I get home. Knowing me in Vegas I will want to keep up the good work and probably order chicken and limit the drinks only because I'm so competitive and want to win this life-changing battle. I'm on day 4 and my left kidney still hurts from the colon flush. Hurts enough that I can't exercise or play golf. Hope it passes soon! Doctor knows. Down 6 lbs in 4 days. Not feeling better in my body but I am in my head. Also want to say I've caught myself saying "it sucks getting old" but I have stopped myself from saying that. Doesn't suck at all. I've actually never been in a better place! Feel great, healthy, little boy is great, I work for myself and business is good and have a roof over my head. I like to say "I've got no problems". At last compared to many others.

Thanks for your comments please keep them coming.

I am feeling a lot better and I am about two and a half weeks into it Packer so hang in there buddy and your body and mind will both feel great here in a week or so the first few days are brutal if you are in ketosis and make sure to drink enough water otherwise you will get a hangover like headache.

You just need to have more kids Packer! It's my diet plan. They keep me so busy I don't have time to eat. I'll go all day and realize I haven't eaten as I'm cooking dinner. One week was so busy with schedules, sports, and everything else I have to do I lost 15 pounds that week. Lol I call it my 6 kid pack exercise program. ;)

Lol.. No problem. Let's do it! Lol..
That really comes natural to me. Kids are no problem. To tell you the truth, ive gained some weight due to no Vegas. The last 5 years of 12-15 trips kept me in shape. I'm Mom and dad 16 days a month and 5 days in Vegas every month is quite the workout plus work. Only two trips this year. Thus the weight gain.

Great topic, I'm one who needs to lose a lot of weight that somehow piled on over the past five years ;)

I love great meals so losing weight has been hard.

So far I've lost six pounds in four months... A lot more to lose for me but hoping bit by bit I shed these pounds :)

And finished product.. 8 3/4 year old loved it. He ate the potatoes and salmon. Almost all of it! No asparagus for him. I had that. Incredibly delicious..

I feel good but have alot of weight to lose... Lets just say I'm in the 3 hundreds for now.
Health wise, I'm good other than high blood pressure.
Before I moved last week, I'd lost 20lbs in 8 weeks. I try to walk at least an hour a day and also make my lunches/dinners myself now for the most part instead of buying them. Tends to be salmon, half a plate of vegetables and 1 serving of a whole grain.

My employer offers a new benefit called 'Vida', which is basically a health coach or whatever you need so I signed up for that. You have a nutritionalist/counselor/whatever you need that's available through an app on the phone. I can upload weight, it tracks my apple watch and fitbit (if I authorize it), upload pictures of my cooking, instant message any questions. She sends me health articles etc. It seems to be keeping me on track this time.

The only other thing that's ever worked for me was weight watchers.
