This is true in the abstract, and I'm in agreement -- Cosmo concerns me, but I just don't go. What makes me nervous is that many people outside our message board bubble don't differentiate between "Cosmo" and "Vegas". I got a number of texts/emails from friends this week saying something along the lines of, "Vegas looks really dangerous and they don't seem to be taking any precautions". That's not good for the Strip generally.

    EDIT:
    This too.

The live-streams I’ve seen from the Linq Promenade and Fremont St don’t look so good either. Granted outside is a lot different than in a casino, but the image for folks that are concerned about masks and distancing is pretty bad

It is ironic though that in the past 16 days or so there have been several very large and very compact gatherings of people, and while many wore face coverings the concern over the health impacts was outweighed by the righteousness of the cause. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see this same type of uproar regarding those large crowds (from a health sense). It seems that the purpose of gathering in large crowds is the reason for the concern / anger here, and doesn't really have much to do with health. This lack of consistency has been my source of frustration for several months.

Update from this weekend -- MGM Grand, at least, is actively enforcing capacity restrictions. Last night, there was a sign up at the entrance from the NYNY skybridge, saying that they were full and nobody except hotel guests were admitted. There were three security officers there (two regular security, one ERT). I had a room key on me so it wasn't a problem, but I saw them turning people away.

I haven't seen this before, but I also haven't been out on a Saturday night since reopening.

Thanks for the updates @44inarow, much appreciated. Looks like MGM is doing the reopening right so out of curiosity checked my MLife account and surprisingly have decent room, FP and resort credit offers for all all properties.
Question for the MGM fans, thinking of maybe staying at either MGM Grand or Bellagio for the August trip (have never stayed at either property). What’s the difference between the Stay Well rooms and the regular rooms and how would they compare to Wynncore rooms?
    Thanks in advance.

The Stay Well rooms have air filtering units, red/blue lighting for relaxation, special mattresses, vitamin C infused water in the shower and healthier room service options. We’ve stayed in the MGM Stay Well rooms often. They have their own check in lounge to the right of the main check in area.

However, the rooms are not as luxurious as Wynncore.

Air filtering and healthier room service options? ok I won’t be telling my wife this because she’ll definitely want to stay in one of these rooms.
    Thanks!

Spent the afternoon at Aria. Observations:
    • The vast, vast majority of guests were wearing masks, even when sitting alone at a slot machine. Not counting people who were eating or drinking, I barely saw anyone either completely without a mask, or doing that thing where they wear it as a chin guard (which does not exactly help).
    • It was pretty quiet, but it was a Wednesday morning in the dead of summer three hours after they opened, so that wasn't particularly surprising.
    • There continues to be a delta between what the websites say and what's actually open. As of last night it said that Lemongrass was open for lunch; there was a sign saying "open for dinner" today, and then they updated the website about an hour ago. On the other hand, Jean-Georges says on the website that they're opening tomorrow, but they had an "open for dinner" sign up (probably not accurate). Baccarat Bar is listed as closed, but I saw people there and a bartender. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, call before you go anywhere.
    • Din Tai Fung seems to be mostly complete, but they still have construction signs up.
    • HL was open but empty. The main floor had people playing. Interestingly, they had $25 BJ at 3:2, which I haven't seen there in years.
    • The Aria-facing entrance/exit at Crystals was back open, but the complex continues to have limited hours. I think the sign said they were open until about 10pm or so, depending on the day. If you're coming back from or going to Cosmo late at night, you'll unfortunately have to take those stupid stairs.

    Additional notes:
    • I'd been planning to go to Carbone for dinner tonight, but they just updated the menu and a lot of the things I like aren't on it right now. I have a feeling this will change as things ramp up, but I'll now add "check the menu" to "make sure they're open" on my list of things to confirm before you commit to anything. I'm sure there are people who only to go certain restaurants for a particular dish.
    • Not that Aria was ever a particularly-popular spot for taxis to stage, but I was chatting with a friend of mine today who works out front, and I saw people waiting 10-20 minutes for a cab to even show up. That's not to say that Uber would be any better (they've been practically nonexistent the last few weeks), but it's something to bear in mind if you have dinner reservations elsewhere or just want to hop around.

Thank you for sharing. I noticed this the weekend before Christmas at Mandalay Bay.

Yeah, I've definitely seen random closures in the past, but it's much more pronounced now. It just emphasizes the need to check -- for example, I go to Picasso every year for Thanksgiving, and I wouldn't fly out to Vegas without 100% confirming that they were going to be open.
Putting aside the somewhat elevated flat fares between the airport and the Strip, taxis have been cheaper and more reliable than Uber/Lyft lately. For whatever reason, many of the drivers currently working the area just do not know the Strip and aren't keeping up with things. I've regularly had rides refused by drivers who assumed that wherever I was at was closed and it was a prank request, sometimes with the added bonus of a cancellation fee that I needed to email to get fixed.
