Thanks for the advice. I must have missed your post. I wished I was sober enough to read it while I was there. I thought you were talking about the Cosmo Pinball. You are talking about the pinball by the $100 Top Dollar on the left side of the Palazzo HL room? Isn't it $100 pinball?

Went to bed. Crashed. Didn't realize I was so tired after dinner and losing. Friday morning , my wife has a spa appointment at the Paris via Groupon. I hate those things but she still buys them. It is at 9am. We get up at 8am. I drive her there and had a couple of hours to kill. I decide to park at the Cosmo instead of making the hike from the Paris/Ballys garage. It was shorter to walk across the street. Plus I wanted to try to get a sandwich at Eggslut. Fail. The line was wrapped around the corner. I wasn't going to wait 30 minutes for a sandwich.

I go downstairs to the HL room. $1k in various machines. I money went so fast. No hits. Just straight butt whippings. I walk out with my tail between my legs. Back to Paris in record time. Maybe I should have waited in line. It was cheaper than playing at that time. I still had over 2 hours before the wife would be ready. I go to Paris. I see a $10 BJ table that pays 3:2. WTF? I sit down and play quarters to kill time. I end up playing 2 hours of BJ for fun. It was enjoyable. I ended up $300 for the session. Only down $3700 now. I was hoping the wife would be done soon. I get itchy and try the HL room. Played for another 30 minutes at the $5 level. Up another $500. I decide to go big. Hit $100 wheel. 15 spins later, I lost my $800 win at Paris. Back to $4k. I decide to try craps table. $100 in. I kick in the ass out. $4100 down. Good news was wife was done and ready for lunch. Too bad it wasn't 30 minutes earlier.

So it was lunch. Paris did not have any decent restaurant week menus. We looked at the restaurant week menus but did not see anything that sounded amazing. My wife did not want egg sandwiches. We ended up walking back to the car at the Cosmo and decided to make it easy and eat at the buffet. Good thing I had just made Gold at the Cosmo. The line was 30-45 minutes to eat at 12pm. Ouch. We walked right up and were seated immediately. I felt bad for all the young EDC folks waiting in line.

The food was good. Sadly, I think it is one of the better buffets out there. It was better than Bacchanal. I remember buffets 10-15 years ago to be amazing. King crab legs. Lots of seafood. It seems that the buffets have really cut back since the heyday of the 90's and beyond. Maybe I have eaten at too many nice restaurants. I will say the only complaint I have was that the pho at the buffet was served with vermicelli noodles instead of pho noodles. They need to get it right if they are going to have the trouble of having it.

After lunch, we went to Fashion Show Mall to shop. I needed a couple of pairs of jeans as the rip on mine grew from 3 inches to 8 inches. I'm talking about the rip on my jeans but use your imagination if you need. I picked up 5 pairs of Lucky Brand jeans. What else would you wear to gamble in?? The wife said she was only going to need an hour to shop. I still had 45 minutes to kill and Tapatalk is giving me issues so no updates at the time. I walk and walk and walk. An hour later, she still had not left the first store yet and needed help carrying her goods. She thought it was a better idea to shop with the money I gave her than to gamble. Can't fault her rationale with our luck this trip. She had already lost the purple chips I sneaked into her purse. She still had another $1k TITO left.

She said only 30 more minutes to hit two more stores. I couldn't leave because she might be done in 30 minutes. I spot a nice Armani Collezioni suit on sale for over half off at Saks. They usually have weird colored suits on sale. Never conservative dark Armani suits. I decide to buy it. It was a nice dark suit. It should go well with everything and can use it as a blazer. Best part was that it was no tax if I got it shipped to me. I just have to get my local tailor to alter it to my body. I hope my suit guy won't mind me bringing a suit for his tailor. On second thought, maybe I will find another tailor.

By the way, in case any ladies want to get a hair cut at the Cosmo spa. My wife really loved her hair cut. She said they had the really nice massaging chairs as they are cutting your hair. The guy did an amazing job with her bangs. It was a really nice hair cut. If I had long hair or any hair for that matter, I might have scheduled an appointment.

So after the buffet, we did not feel like a big meal. Hakkasan was the plan for the evening. We decided to call an audible and cancel it. There was no way we were going to pay $80/pp to eat Chinese food even though it included abalone and lobster. We were going to decide later in the evening and stay close to the V/P. Some slot porn coming up as it was gambling time.

Great photos and trip report. I tend to try to make the restaurant weeks in Vegas and was sorry to miss it this time. I like Charlie Palmer and even outside of restaurant week they have that great "cut of the week" deal with unlimited wine, though sadly the new Charlie Palmer in Reno doesn't offer that.

Congrats on finding out and winning one of the Cosmo drawings!

Loved the food porn from Bazaar Meats! As far as I'm concerned the only reason to go to SLS is Bazaar Meats and I wouldn't mind trying Cleo. Been once to the SLS casino and that was enough.

Personally so far this year I have had more luck at Cosmo HL room then Venetian/Palazzo. Hopefully I didn't just jinx myself for my stay at Cosmo next week. :)

I agree on the Cut of the Week. We will do it every couple of trips or when the wife likes the menu. We usually have to hit Raku every trip and one strip dinner since we can only "afford" to go two nights per trip. I will say that the Cosmo drawing lessened the blow from this trip. I had been on a roll lately and got brought back to earth.

You have been exceptionally lucky this year but I think there's more good fortune to arrive. I could be in the Cosmo drawing with less then 10 people and my name would not be drawn! This has happened to me in non-gambling drawings before, LOL!

I'm going to return to Beauty and Essex next week and give it another try since when we ate there it was their first week open.

Everybody has these ups and downs. You should have seen it several years ago when I went 3 years with all losses. Of course, we only went once a year. You just have to believe you are going to win. I win when I play with reckless abandon, don't have a number in mind, and most importantly, know when to stop. I find that I don't do as well when I am constantly looking at my BR or playing from behind. As for the drawings, I think variance is a big B and hope I didn't waste my luck on a few grand in FP. I hope there is some left for Mega Millions or PowerBall drawings.

Enjoy Beauty and Essex. Looking forward to reading the next installment of your adventures with your mom. Good luck.

So celebrated with Vueve to toast my handpay. Always get one. If I am drunk, it is because I am winning a lot or just had a nice dinner.

Funny thing is I got a glass from my guy in the Venetian HL room later on in the night and almost immediately got a hand pay. Where was he all night?

So what is the pay percentage on the machine I picked? I didn't know that was full pay. I just sat there because it was right by the machine I just hit $875 on a few minute earlier and I needed a place to put my champagne glass down

After the video poker hit, things stared to go downhill. Again, I thought my luck was improving and I needed to ride this wave. Wrong again. I kept getting small hit to sustain for a bit and losing long streaks of whiffs. I played for 2 hours over various machines in $1, 5, 10, 25, and 100 denominations. No sustained hits. I would win $400-800 and then proceed to lost an extra a $300-500. It was frustrating because I kept saying that I should have stopped. I didn't read the signs. This trip was not about big hits. It was bout a lot of small hits and I need to bounce after a small hit. Had I don't that, I probably would have been up $5-8k.

9/6 DDB has an optimal payback of 98.98% (1.02% house edge). A lot of VP there is triple the edge or worse.

Thanks for the info. I usually play $5 VP and it is usually 9/6. Never really looked but don't play very much VP. I will usually do 10-20 hands a trip at $25 per shot. Over lifetime, I think I am slightly ahead or even on VP. I just don't have the BR to play at that level for an entire trip.

Look what I found on my doorsteps when I got home?

That's right. The luggage from the VP slot tournament last month. Not sure how much I will use it as I am a Tumi and Briggs guy. I might give it to my parents.

Last time I was at Charlie Palmer they only offered a wine pairing with the cut of the week but it wasn't bottomless. That was in January.

Thanks for the wishes Jason. My wife is so cool. We celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary and she didn't even make me buy her anything. She just made me take her to Vegas for 3 days. I'm so lucky that she only cares about spending time together. Gifts are more practical for us. The best part is that we buy our own gifts that we want and then bill it to an anniversary or birthday or Christmas. It is like a comp yourself system but for gifts. Works great. Never have to ask for anything. Never have to worry about forgetting an event. So far, we haven't gone overboard.

Hope you had a lucky time in Reno. Hope to see you in Vegas sometime for another slot pull.
