We've got a guys trip planned for these dates, but with the Wynn and MGM shutting down for at least a few weeks, we're not sure whether to just cancel everything and move on, or to keep our reservations and hope for the best. What do you guys think?

We still have a room booked April 30-May 3 and we're thinking that's a 1% chance at this point. I might take bets on whether Cosmo cancels the room for us or if we have to do it. I'm on the 8 weeks from today train, and optimistic at that.

8 weeks seems reasonable. I just don't know how that town can stay afloat if it shuts down for that long, so I was selfishly hoping it might not be that long. So many people rely on those daily interactions and tips to make their car and housing payments.

I think it's probably best to postpone at this point. I can't imagine Caesars will be far behind, and even if not, a lot of their bars and restaurants are shut down. In addition, all nightclubs and shows citywide are closed, gaming is limited (I believe every other machine is off, no more than three spots per table, etc.), and i'm sure more shutdowns are in the works. It's just not the Vegas you'd be expecting.

what @44inarow said-I'd think it's probably a slow return to normal, even if it's ok to travel by then. It sucks for your group and all the people affected by the closures.

Ugh I’m going to sound like such a Debbie Downer but I’m somewhat thinking even May trips are at risk :(. Just looking at past history.. it’s been what, 3 months ish before China started to see a slowdown, would imagine it trends somewhat the same. Hope I’m way way wrong with this!! In the back of my mind I’m even wondering what or if our June trip will happen. Part of me thinks “ stop, I’m being ridiculous “ but I was also the same person thinking “NO WAY WOULD VEGAS EVER SHUT DOWN”......
what I am confident of, is it’s a really good thing I’m not like a professional better... cuz damn I would not be very good. Lol.

In case you haven’t seen yet, the governor has suspending gaming for 30 days starting tonight the 17th. Your trip would butt right up on that window. I wouldn’t be too optimistic and start considering a contingency.

And the option to reevaluate after those 30 days are up. I just think there's too much uncertainty right now; I don't like to gamble with my gambling if I can avoid it. Really tough situation all around.

I had an appt at qua at caesars on April 24 and they called me to cancel and said they would be closed indefinitely... I think they are planning to be closed longer than the 30 days.

Gaming can probably return more quickly but other services would need time to get going or would want to wait until they know visitation supports an amenity like a spa treatment.

I would bet a lot of money they will still be closed during that time.

I think Maybis reasonable. Maybe open before then, but with a weird post apocalyptic mellow not Vegas vibe

On the plus side I was able to rebook and save a ton of cash and miles.

I had a 4/24 flight out on miles and 4/27 flight back on cash. Got the miles back and was able to book both legs PLUS my sept trip on the flight credits and got a refund of my upgrade fee.

I am going with 1% chance on April 24th trip being a go and 95% chance on Sept 18th.

Even if it were to reopen in April it would be a risky move to go.

I’m betting on a reopen June 1 at earliest, August 15 at latest.

I think this is some good guessing. I could see memorial day weekend too possibly. But any earlier than that is doubtful to me.

If you trust Vital Vegas’s tweets he’s indicating that several casinos have been aiming for a May 1 full reopening.

I wonder if all the casinos will figure out that they probably need to work together to start phasing the open in stages rather than all at once.
