    Hi Guys,

I am trying to do the legwork for my bachelor party in terms of rooms. Is there any hotel (strip or downtown) that promotes any packages for these types of events? I have reached out to the D, and there’s is a 10 room minimum, which is probably one or two more than I need and it’s just a discount.

I guess to better prep my question is there any hotel that makes it worthwhile to book such a thing through them? I have room comps but no one else in the group really does, and since I’ve been the most I’m trying to at least narrow down the location to make it easier on the event organizer to book.

Thanks in advance for any advice you might have!

Honestly, for a group that size, a discount is likely the best you're going to get. I've been to large destination weddings where the bride and groom got a free room for one night, and that was it, despite bringing several dozen people to the resort and it being in an isolated place where you were limited to on-property dining/drinking (which of course is not the case in Vegas, let alone Downtown), which is where the real profit margin is.

Also, depending on when it is, I'd just keep in the back of your mind that lots of places are still pretty limited. It'll probably/hopefully start going up soon, as vaccines roll out, but right now you're limited to six people at a restaurant, for example.

It’s goi g to be in September/October, so hopefully the restrictions will have eased a bit by then. I just can’t believe most hotels don’t have a dedicated person for these types of requests. The D is a 10 room minimum and no one else has even responded to me yet.

Most hotels do have a dedicated person. I'm candidly not surprised that they're only offering a discount, which is pretty standard, but the lack of response is troubling. I might try picking up the phone and asking to talk to group sales -- if all they do is a discount, especially for people not known to them (which I say based on your statement that nobody else in the group can garner room comps), that's one thing, but not responding isn't okay in my book.

I have a dozen people celebrating milestone bdays in June myself and all i can get them in Aria is a 3+ nights discounts under $500 total. But, I could book from 1-10 rooms.

    meh, most.
Just saying, because I've been that guy, this is your best mans job.

also depending on the closeness of the entire group, consider a bunch of rooms in different yet somewhat near properties, if you are going to do a casino crawl or something like that, then the ones that can't hang and drop like flies have a nearby room. also folks have different budgets.

Or a big suite for the hangout, and they can pick the level of room they want to crash in. Or work their own deals if they are vegas players.

Pay for all the rooms, (actually, just an overflow, most can fend for themselves), make sure the groom doesn't pay a cent out of pocket, cough up extra dough for a marathon lapdance session, these are the duties of the best man.

Oh and arrange the whole thing, calling and trying to coordinate optimal dates with a dozen people, half of which you have never met..

tldr: IMHO don't worry about the group discount, just book as early as possible, watch rates, can always cancel w. 48 hr notice.

Having also been that guy, I agree with this except you have to properly vet the best man. I was once in a wedding where the best man insisted on planning the bachelor party without any external input. He had been to Vegas exactly once, when he was 10 years old. Now, I'm not an expert on every topic, but I like to think I know a few things about Vegas and Vegas bachelor parties. At a certain point I had to politely take the wheel (for which the groom profusely thanked me).

I agree with this as well, but within reason. On one trip I helped plan, the groom was, shall we say, overserved. I think he spent over $10k at Sapphire on a single dance, and there were only about 5-6 of us in attendance. I'm all for taking care of the groom as much as possible, and we did chip in, but at some point, if you build the ship, it's up to you to make sure it floats. That's just my two cents, though!

WTF? I would have raised hell. Zero chance I'm letting someone get fleeced for $10k while they're shitfaced. That's downright criminal.

Believe me, had we known, we would have put a stop to it in a second. Unfortunately, we had lost track of him at that point; he said he was going to the bathroom, and just didn't come back. And he felt so awful about it the next day that we didn't have the heart to call him an idiot until much later.

On a related note, if you're in a situation like that, the solution is not to say, "Eh, we lost him, I'm going back to the hotel." By 6am, when he finally turned up, the only people left were me and the best man. I was pretty annoyed at the rest of the group.

Maybe the other guys went to look for him up on the roof though? There was that mattress to indicate he might have been up there.

Ha, I'd have given them credit had that's what they'd done! But no, they just got bored and headed out. I would have done the same had I not been, you know, NOT A JERK.

As an aside, if you've never left a strip club at 7am into broad daylight... it's really something.

I've turned up at a strip club at 7am, not sure if that's good or bad :(

Oh, I forgot to give a substantive answer to this -- check out either Vdara or Elara. The latter in particular is very accommodating of groups, and you could get a pretty big suite to hang out in. Every group of LA sorority girls I know (don't ask) always book a bunch of rooms there. And there are some pretty big suites and rooms with pull-out couches that can house quite a few people. Vdara is nice is well, but known for being sedate, and so I'd respectfully suggest that you not throw a bachelor party pre-game there.

Hey man, I’m planning my own bachelor party as well for May. I don’t disagree with the Elara recommendation, as I have stayed there before and enjoyed it, and can definitely see the value in the large rooms providing a place to hang out/party. I will say I booked the MGM for mine, mostly due to the balance of cost/location and pool complex. I will let you know how it is after I get back.

Also I wish I could say I had a large group of LA sorority girls were at the Elara when I was there, it was all timeshare folks from my perspective, which was not what I was looking for then! (I was still single when I stayed there.)

Yeah I guess that's a good point.....where can you be total a-holes at 4 AM and it won't be a problem. It's Vegas, so I think it's expected anywhere....but I imagine if you are in Elara with a bunch of older folks who turn in early, or Bellagio, you might get a lot of complaints. Probably easier to make a ruckus at a place like MGM Grand.

Bachelor and bachelorette parties are the reason that my favorite room in Vegas is the panoramic suite at Vdara. Bedroom isn't a shared wall with any other hotel rooms, end of a hallway....when we want quiet time in the room we hear nothing!

I'd suggest getting something larger at a central location, like a 1 or 2 bedroom suite. That can be your home and also the location for any group get togethers. Mirage has nice 2 room suites that would work well. MGM also has some cool options for large rooms.

Then anyone else who's coming can maken their own arrangements

Appreciate all of your responses. Taking the advice and just having them plan it, although having been so much and knowing more about locations than they do, it’s tough not to get involved haha

Sometimes hotels will offer group rates or even throw in some extras like free drinks or food vouchers. It can't hurt to ask.
