Agreed on all points. Probably my biggest criticism of the series, so far, is their focus on a specific slice of the industry without actually talking ABOUT the industry as a whole.

It's great that Kelly Stewart goes through skin treatments to keep a "young appearance" or that "Vegas Dave" lives with his parents but who really cares? I plan to address this after giving them a chance to rectify it at the end of the series, but I don't have too high of hopes based on what we've seen.

So far everyone they're presenting is a caricature of betting. The mega-tout (Oacena), the filly (Stewart), the pro bettor (Krack) and the lovable loser (Winshev) but there's no real examination of the people on the front-lines, or any attempt to interview the casual bettor other than Krack making fun of them "chasing". How about the guy who goes to Vegas, makes a few bets, and now can do that in his home? How is THAT going to affect his betting patterns? (or is it?)

It seems, so far, like the producers are anti-gambling, and that they're trying to put it in the worst light possible. The next episode is going to be about gambling and "relationships". So we're most likely to get an hour of Vegas Dave talking about his relationship with various high-end call girls.

If that does happen you might notice a difference in my tone in the next post.

The positive tout angle they took is how you know this series was done by a non sports gambler.

If me and you were in charge the only time a tout would be mentioned would be looked at in a negative way.

More Musburger would be nice, he knows more about sportsbooks than anyone else.

Action Episode III: Where I tag out.

They lost me on the last episode, as far as thinking they had any insight to add. Right now it's just a glorified reality show.

I will say that Todd Winshev is a sad character who I really empathize with. He's also reassuring to me because I'm nothing like him. Yes, I LIKE to go to casinos and gamble and yes I gamble more than the normal person but, I also get fulfillment doing other things. I like my job, I love my wife, I have other hobbies that I enjoy.

But this show was a disappointment because it promised to talk about the impacts the repeal of PASPA would have on sports betting and it really just turned into a "hey, look at these weird people!" show that ultimately isn't going to add anything to the conversation.

Was waiting to hear what you had to say and I agree with you on every point.

This show now seems like an audition for Kelly, and a platform for Dave to show us all the nice things he’s bought selling picks.

I also realize how far behind the US books are compared to off shore. In play betting, betting next inning, next drive, next score. This is something I’ve been exposed to for years. I think the coolest feature we have that’s not available in the US yet is the cash out option. I can cash out a bet at any point during the game to avoid bad beats.

Hoping the last episode gives us an inside look at the sportsbook. Betting limits, what happens when someone wants to place a $50k bet, line moves, and why they take games off the board.

So much they could have done, instead they show us a guy getting a foot message on a beach in Mexico. Wtf does that have to do with sports gambling in the US!

    Howdy all.

Long time no talk to. Sorry about that, I've been in COVID hiding but we have made a couple of trips to the local in June and July. I've moved my TR's to YouTube: The Public Money and, if you're on Twitter, you can follow there for Live Updates. @CoryWCrow - The Public Money (Now Sanitized for Your Protection)

I've got a video up from both our June and July trips, and a handful of other videos that are pretty much either me providing updates, or some cooking videos.

We're heading out for our Anniversary trip this Saturday, it will be a different one this time, because we're heading to the local and then to a casino in Tulsa next week and not Vegas, but you should see some live stuff on Twitter and then the Videos usually start appearing on YouTube a couple of weeks after the trip.

Now I'm going to go surf the boards and see what you've all been up to.

Thanks. It's good to be back. I just went into hiding because it was too depressing watching other people do things while I was stuck at home pinching pennies. :)

Back among the living, no longer working from home (back in the office starting today) and getting ready to put out some new content. We've been on a pretty steady run of casino trips, all of which I've put on YouTube, so I thought I'd link them here if you want to see.

    Vegas: October 2020 Part 1:

    Vegas: October 2020 Part 2:

    Lake Charles: January 2021:

    Lake Charles: February 2021:

I also have Vegas trips from March 2021 and April 2021 in the pipeline (hint: 5 Royals in two trips at GVR, our new home base in Vegas)

Not sure how much longer I'm going to keep up with the YouTube thing, other than short videos. I always forget to record video and editing and putting it all together is a little more time consuming than I have free time available. Might go back to TRs on here, Twitter, and a podcast because the video is just too time consuming.

Anyway, hope everyone is OK. I promise to try and stick around a little longer this time. (2020 was just an utter mess)
