Agreed on all points. Probably my biggest criticism of the series, so far, is their focus on a specific slice of the industry without actually talking ABOUT the industry as a whole.

It's great that Kelly Stewart goes through skin treatments to keep a "young appearance" or that "Vegas Dave" lives with his parents but who really cares? I plan to address this after giving them a chance to rectify it at the end of the series, but I don't have too high of hopes based on what we've seen.

So far everyone they're presenting is a caricature of betting. The mega-tout (Oacena), the filly (Stewart), the pro bettor (Krack) and the lovable loser (Winshev) but there's no real examination of the people on the front-lines, or any attempt to interview the casual bettor other than Krack making fun of them "chasing". How about the guy who goes to Vegas, makes a few bets, and now can do that in his home? How is THAT going to affect his betting patterns? (or is it?)

It seems, so far, like the producers are anti-gambling, and that they're trying to put it in the worst light possible. The next episode is going to be about gambling and "relationships". So we're most likely to get an hour of Vegas Dave talking about his relationship with various high-end call girls.

If that does happen you might notice a difference in my tone in the next post.

The positive tout angle they took is how you know this series was done by a non sports gambler.

If me and you were in charge the only time a tout would be mentioned would be looked at in a negative way.

More Musburger would be nice, he knows more about sportsbooks than anyone else.

Action Episode III: Where I tag out.

They lost me on the last episode, as far as thinking they had any insight to add. Right now it's just a glorified reality show.

I will say that Todd Winshev is a sad character who I really empathize with. He's also reassuring to me because I'm nothing like him. Yes, I LIKE to go to casinos and gamble and yes I gamble more than the normal person but, I also get fulfillment doing other things. I like my job, I love my wife, I have other hobbies that I enjoy.

But this show was a disappointment because it promised to talk about the impacts the repeal of PASPA would have on sports betting and it really just turned into a "hey, look at these weird people!" show that ultimately isn't going to add anything to the conversation.

Was waiting to hear what you had to say and I agree with you on every point.

This show now seems like an audition for Kelly, and a platform for Dave to show us all the nice things he’s bought selling picks.

I also realize how far behind the US books are compared to off shore. In play betting, betting next inning, next drive, next score. This is something I’ve been exposed to for years. I think the coolest feature we have that’s not available in the US yet is the cash out option. I can cash out a bet at any point during the game to avoid bad beats.

Hoping the last episode gives us an inside look at the sportsbook. Betting limits, what happens when someone wants to place a $50k bet, line moves, and why they take games off the board.

So much they could have done, instead they show us a guy getting a foot message on a beach in Mexico. Wtf does that have to do with sports gambling in the US!
