I'm excited to see this in January. I'm not going to pretend I was familiar with her work before I saw this, but it looks cool. If anyone goes before I get there, give me an update. Like if they made you go into the room with a stranger or if you were able to see it twice in your time slot.

(Will this be the trip I call and make reservations for the James Turrell installation at Crystals? I've said yes for each and every trip for the past 5 years and it hasn't happened yet.)

    Right?!?

This is what I love about Las Vegas. You want fancy food? There's so much. You like being frugal? Cool. You want to sleep 2 hours out of 96 hours and wear a bathrobe all day? No one looks twice.

I'm into 89 year old conceptual artists that I wouldn't see even with an extreme amount of effort in my everyday life AND I'm going to see the conservatory and the Year of the Pig display and grab some champs at Petrossian after. How great is that?

Definitely not going in my straight-off-the-plane outfit though.

Sounds like depending on how busy it is on how hardcore they will be about only going in once.

I I have been in the gallery before and I can assure you most of those people they are pretty Stern about anything so maybe if you're a nice lady they will let you go in twice.

Last time I stopped in there was for the Faberge eggs

I am hoping to see this next month.

I enjoyed the James Turrell installation. Plan ahead if you want to see it.

Nice. It's too bad Cosmo decide to de-artify itself. They used to have some interesting stuff going on at the P3Studio.

I liked the P3 studio, but I like Zuma’s potato even more.

@MissL7777 definitely going to plan ahead for both of them this time

I saw Kusama's exhibit in LA and was blown away. I'm going in Vegas, absolutely. Her exhibits sell out throughout the country and world so this is pretty huge.

The BGFA imho is a must see each vegas trip.
I have used the Myvegas comp at least 5 times, it's gone now it seems.
But for the cost of 3 mins on a slot or table I get my culture on.

    Hi Claire

I went to the exhibit yesterday and am so glad I saw your post about the exhibit. It was really a cool thing to do.

I used my platinum letter to get in. At first when I walked up they said that the 7:00 viewing was sold out but that was only for tickets they sell...if you use the platinum benefit they let you go in with any group. If you aren’t platinum, you should probably buy tickets in advance to make sure you can get in when you would like. There was a healthy amount of interest for this compared to some of the other exhibits I’ve seen at the gallery.

Once you enter, you wait in line to enter the “viewing chamber” and they only let a maximum of 2 people in at a time and I think they time this for 30 seconds each. I think even if I went to the exhibit with someone, I would want to do the viewing by myself...interesting to hear your perspective. MNy of the people ahead of me were coupled but entered the viewing chamber solo.

Have a great time on your trip and let me know if other questions.

    Kathy

@klevegas Thanks for the update! I did buy my tickets already-I actually bought tickets for 2 days of my trip.

Hope you had a nice trip!

It definitely is incredibly cool. Very Instagram-friendly (for whatever that's worth), but it just looks great. And the fact that they're doing it by time slot is great, because she's had NYC shows where there were literally lines around the block of people waiting 2-4 hours to get in.

We went and had pre ordered tickets.
They were for opening @ 10:00 am. On a Friday.
We were first in line but the line filled up quickly. You will only get really 30-45.seconds in the room. Very very cool experience worth the trip.

I went ahead and checked it out on my last trip and it was a great experience. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s on the fence about it.

I’m very glad I went to see this. I’m happy to post a spoiler alert photo - let me know.

One can enter the gallery once during their scheduled time. Whether you’re by yourself or with someone, you can enter the exhibit solo.

No spoiler pictures, if you don’t mind. I’m going in not knowing much about the artist but looking forward to it. We aren’t there until next month.

And I’m already spoiled, so I appreciate knowing I can go in solo but don’t need a pic. I’m really looking forward to this next month.

To be fair, seeing Yayoi Kusama's work in person is difficult to spoil, even if you've seen photos. Her installations are fantastic.
