One of my nearby locals is obviously getting a little desperate and is sending me some tidy freeplay promos ($450/week in January).

I'm ready to sever offer ties with them (I've decided to become a Vegas-exclusive player), so I'm looking to convert this freeplay to cash that I could use during my next Cosmo excursion. Cash & cards will be left at home, so this will be bankrolled purely with freeplay.

Who has some go-to machines for freeplay conversion? I know that lower volatility machines will generally yield better results with this type of goal, but I'm interested to hear what you all have had success with.

VP is the best bet to wash the highest percentage of your FP

While I’ll agree with @CherriesJubilee and @Goldenknight that, if you want to grind through your free play and have a pretty good chance of having most of it left, then VP is a good way to do it. However, keep in mind, unless you’re a schooled VP player, you will make mistakes, and that will reduce your return. There is a measurable level of skill needed to maximize your return.
Personally, I always run my FP conversion through Pinball. I’ve never failed to get a bonus, and two bonuses will almost certainly result in a return over 100%. That’s just my two cents.

I tend to gravitate towards a higher limit Top Dollar or Pinball as well when it comes to Freeplay because I've never failed to come up on it (knocking on wood), as well as a lightning link of sorts.

I don’t have a ton of Free Play, but I’ve been trying to figure out where to play my FP for a hopeful bankroll boost? I have $525 so what machine, where is it at Cosmo, and bet amount?

I hit lightning link up outside of high limit at .50 or $1 denom and that's always worked out for me. Pinball or Top Dollar at $5 or $10 denom as well. I don't think I've ever gone to Cosmo and not doubled or tripled my freeplay on those machines..and i've been there every month lol

My only steadfast rule for FP at the local: You must play machines you wouldn't normally play because of bet level or you must press the bet on your tried and true favorites.

Video Poker, as others have pointed out. And if you don't want to grind, or feel you are not a good VP player...

Go to an older Game King terminal, instead of playing poker on it, play Black Jack.

If you want more of a slot feel, instead of playing Black Jack on it, flip to slots. Most all of those video slots are ancient, and hold typical odds, from 20-30 years ago when they were made. Think just north of 90%.

A lot of cool old games can be found, like this weird Cleo below I always play. Other games, like Leopard Spots, Chinese Kitchen and lots of offshoots with multipliers. Great odds!

That bartop Cleo is one of my favorites when I’m in Biloxi. Haven’t really seen it much in Vegas. No big payouts, but pretty frequent bonuses.

I have had the most success on all of the wonder 4 variants. I usually get much more than dollar for dollar. Like 99% of the time.

Most slots in general are going to give you the same payout percentage. I've lately been using Quick Spin for this kind of thing, because there are frequent bonus, its rare to go through a session without a Spin or a Bonus so you know you are at least going to get some cash out of it. As know your slots points out, its a low volatility that might not get you a huge payday but more like steady pays.

Last time I was in Vegas....OK.....it was over a year ago.....TI had this in the section in front of the cashier cage. Might still be there as they tend to hold on to quite a few older slots.

Yes, but you do have to be pretty bad to knock your return to something below a typical penny slot machine. I probably could count the people I've witnessed playing that badly on 1 hand.

Following this simple strategy will get you within 0.1% of optimal return on Jacks or Better. It works well for Bonus Poker too. Most of the holds in JoB or Bonus are pretty intuitive.

    https://wizardofodds.com/games/video-poker/strategy/jacks-or-better/9-6/simple/

But I'd only hold King Ten suited if you were actually playing 9/6 JoB. King only is usually better at 9/5 and lower and all forms of Bonus Poker where 2 pair is 2 for 1.

If I had to pick a slot, i probably go with an older IGT slot for lower volatility. Also if you can find an IGTs "Winners Choice" slot it's a decent choice as well as it has a minimum payback of 92%.
