Brian Christopher did a blog and talked about machines like Seinfeld and Willie Wonka that offer two kinds of bets. Regular and "Bigger, Better Bonuses" bets. I was always under the assumption that the machine would trigger more bonuses with that bet at usually a slightly higher bet. Am I wrong on the assumption and should I just play the regular play with usually a slightly higher line multiplier or go for the Bigger, Better Bonuses?

    Thanks

Either way , the payback percentage doesn't change.

You are just shuffling your money around with the "Bigger and Better" bets. Easy math here:

Min bet is $1.00 and max bet is $5.00. $1.00 is your line bet X 1. $5.00 is your line bet X 5. If you hit 5 of a kind aces, your "win" is either $2.00 at MIN or $10.00 at MAX.

Flip your bet to "bigger & better" and its the same $1.00 or $5.00 BUT your line hits are cut in half. Those Aces? That now pays $1.00 to $5.00 at each bet level. Instead of your multiplier going up, you forfeit the money you are betting in order to trigger more frequent (and maybe better).

Instead of all your Max Bet $5.00 line pays being 5X, they will actually be 2.5X.

You should get more bonuses, just know that they will always pay less per line hit then if you triggered them the normal way.

Knowing all that, you cant say which way is better. I assume in the long run it levels each other out. You could get twice as many bonuses with the B&B, but they will be worth half as much since your bet level is reduced.

Some games it is not half, I think flinstones Max bet is an 8X for $3.60, but just a 6X for $3.60 bigger and better. But it is always a reduction.

This kind of reminds me of the "Buy a Bonus," horrible slot choice where you paid $100 to get an instant bonus and usually "won" like $26. IIRC, the BEST payout was only like $120! People were saying stuff like," I seriously won like $300 on bonuses I had to win the honest and traditional way, and only got like $26 on a bonus I paid $100 to instantly get!"

No doubt! I got sucked into some fairy slot machine that had a buy a bonus. I'm no dummy, I hold a Doctorate in Theology, I know what I'm doing when it comes to gambling. I thought at worst, I would win back 80 or 90% of my money. And the sky was the limit on what I could rake!

I had previously triggered the bonus with the minimum 3 symbols. That got me like 8 free games. I was betting max, $2.50 I think, and the game had sticky wilds. I won something like $120.00. That encouraged me to play the "Buy a Bonus".

Don't quote me on this, but $20 bought 8 free games, $40 bought 12 and $100 bought 16. With every game holding those sticky wilds, buying more games seemed like the best bet.

I pushed that Buy a Bonus button, confirmed that I wanted to piss away $100 on a bonus round and I "won" like 30 bucks. Stupid me, with all my smarts and life experience, missed the part where that Buy a Bonus only played out as if you triggered it with the minimum 50 cent bet!
