Borgata is sending a limo to drive me from NYC to AC, and then back again. It’s about a 2.5 hour drive. What’s an appropriate tip for the driver? I know numbers will be all over the place, but I’m looking for some feedback on this one.

2.5 hours round trip? How long is the driver waiting for you? Is the driver dedicated to you alone?

2.5 hours each way. They’ll just drop me off, and then another driver will bring me back to NY.

If the limon is no cost to you I suspect $80-100 would be greatly appreciated.

I usually give the Cosmo driver at least $20, and that's like 30 minutes of work at most. More if I've hit a lot of bags or have any weird request lol

Did that trip a couple years ago. Tipped the driver $100 each way. No idea what was appropriate, but figured it was at least respectable.

Personally, I'd start at $100 per leg of the trip. Might go a little higher if the driver is engaging and provides information or makes any recommendations.

I was thinking either $50 or 100. I’d rather the driver be quiet so I can take a nap on the ride. I sure hope they aren’t engaging!

I really should just drive my own car, but just don’t feel like dealing with traffic.

Instead of “comp yourself,” I should just “tip myself.”

I would say 100 per leg that they have to drive so if they're coming from AC NYC ac NYC ac 400. NYC ac NYC 200

Let’s not get crazy. I can book the car myself for $250 each way, so, if I were to tip 20% of that, it’s $50 each way. But no way would a normal tip be $400 for a roundtrip that only costs $500 to book myself.

I think the $250 rides are usually for multiple people. A limo just for you usually is around $350 to $600 one way depending on the quality of the Limo. I agree that $200 is an insanely generous tip for a one way from NYC to AC. If you are the only person in the Limo, I would tip $100 one way, if you are with another person, then $50 from each person is a nice tip.

Also, if you want peace and quiet in the Limo, just tell them that. Limo drivers never take offence to a simple request like that. I always tell my limo driver that I want to rest and they are very quiet, or if I want them to be engaging, i start asking them questions and the good ones get the hint and become chatty.

So I have driven from NYC to AC many times. I am sure you have thought of this already, but if you can flex your departure time a little, especially to early in the morning, you can beat the traffic and the drive is a breeze. Get caught in rush hour though and it is exhausting.
