Realized I've never tried this and don't know if it is even a possible thing, but figured someone around here might know.

I've got a comped suite at Aria this weekend, but would rather be in the Sky Suites (@SIlverGolfer you are correct - one stay and now I'm ruined) -- is it possible to upgrade a comp if I'm willing to pay for it? I mean, assuming that would be a discounted rate vs. just pay full price for room.

You can pay for the upgrade. Ask your host or call VIP services and find out how much for the upgrade. The Aria one bedroom sky suite is one of my favorite rooms but I haven't stayed in them since the reno which looks even better.

Historically, MGM has not done paid-upgrade-in-advance for comp rooms like Cosmo does (ie. you only pay the difference between the retail prices).

They have (sometimes) been willing to do it at check-in based on availability.

Things may have changed, but I don't remember ever seeing anybody be able to do it in advance at MGM without a host being involved.

Thanks for the info! I reached out to my host, so fingers crossed. :)

And yes, @sparkydog - the renovated rooms are really nice!

You can definitely upgrade at check-in and Platinum has a cool new perk - a once a year free upgrade based upon availability. As far as I know, Aria host's don't get involved with pricing. They can request the room but the hotel handles the upgrade cost.

Your host can up front tell you the difference to upgrade your offer to a sky suite from your comp room and it gets put in the system when they book it for you.

Host came through with the hookup for the 2 bedroom Sky Suite! It's more than I'd pay for a Vegas room (which, to be fair, is... anything haha) but totally acceptable amount and will be an awesome surprise for the friend I'm bringing. :)

    Enjoy!
you won't be disappointed. If you don't get limo already make sure you book it because it's included with all sky suite stays.

All set on that! Trying to decide now if I should cancel my lounge chair reservations for Monday at Sky pool since now have access. But then again, means they'd be reserved, but also, it's Monday, so how packed could it be....

I'll be there too at the Skysuites. Getting in Saturday. Maybe we'll be neighbors.

Sigh. So I was all checked in and then while at the airport, the app checked me out and switched me out of the penthouse room, which sucks

I used to know someone that did similar for me at Aria prior to the Pandemic that helps me to upgrade to Sky Suites but he got laid off and now everyone from Aria including my casino marketing rep told me that the only way I could get upgraded with pay is ask when I check in. Just wondering if you have any tips you might be willing to share.

I don't have a host at Aria only a casino marketing rep that books the reservations for me and attach offers. He is pretty new to MGM. He used to work at Venetian.

I have a trip coming up this weekend and the room is comped.

    Thank you for your time.

    Hi Winner!

I requested it via my host the day before I left. Honestly, not sure I'd bother again as it got really convoluted and messy on the billing side of things in a way that in retrospect wasn't worth having the sky suite ;)

Best I'd recommend is give it a shot the day before you leave? And have a great trip!
