Looking at booking a room at Flamingo where we can do either one of the following. Get a $50 food credit, or $30 in slot play. If you take the food credit, are you typically able to use it at other CET affiliated food outlets or are you stuck at the food outlets at Flamingo. I think it's the former, but if we are stuck with Flamingo restaurants, I'm thinking the slot play may be better...

Can slot play be used on vp? If so convert and use elsewhere.

I know with my offers from fremont I cannot take to other Boyd dt props.

Unless it says good only at Flamingo, it's good at any CET restaurant that takes comps. I have had these many times, and not only do you not have to use it at Flamingo, but you can use it in parts. Just have to charge the food to your room. I have had these at PH and used them for coffee a few times at the Starbucks there, and then used part at the Food Hall at Harrah's, buffet at Caesars, etc. It's basically a credit to your room folio.

Yep, charge whatever outlet to your room and they'll take the $50 credit off automatically from whatever comprises your first $50 in charges.

What everyone else said. But also I would recommend keeping track of how you've spent it if you're spending it in parts. Because the charges don't show up on your room folio that you can view on the TV and you don't see the minuses. Normally there are no issues but I did have one once a few years ago that wasn't set up right so I was getting charges to my folio way before I should have. Hosts are able to see all of your charges so mine was able to get it straightened out.

I think I agree that if you can charge to your room across properties, it should work.

One thing to watch for though - I usually stay on offers with $50 resort credit, I always use it usually for room service at the property I'm staying at.

Last two trips, only the first instance of charging had the credit applied correctly, the remainder was not.

Example - I have $50 in credit and order something with a menu price of $28. So I look at the folio on the TV and the $28 correctly does not appear, just the room service mandatory charge and tip.

Next day I order the same thing - so $22 should come off the top, and the folio should show a charge for the food of $6 plus tax, mandatory charge and tip. Didn't happen - I had to have them do it manually.

So either use the whole $50 in one transaction, or watch for this.

Also be aware that there are places that are not CET owned that they will not let you use folio credit for. Examples: Cafe Americano at Caesars Palace, retail at Payard Patisserie, Mon Ami Gabi at Paris... I know there are a lot more. I believe even Planet Dailies is now excluded (didn't used to be).

There are also places that take Reward Credits at 2 to 1, so IF they allow folio credits to be used, they might also charge more.

I would ask at check-in for a list so you know exactly what's what. I had a $100 folio credit within the last year at Caesars Palace and ate at Cafe Americano and took a couple things from the mini bar in the room and none of it came off of my folio credit. Thankfully, I had a good host who took care of it and gave me $100 free play on my next trip to make up for it.

Things definitely aren't as simple as they once were.

Yeah, i agree, ask for a list when you check in. I also found that when I had my $100 Diamond Aspiration credit it had places excluded that I could still use a regular credit or reward points. They make it way too confusing!

Definitely go with the $50 food! $30 freeplay will go instantly.

Agreed with everyone else -- the TR desk has a list of all the participating restaurants, but a rule of thumb is if you can charge to the room, then you can use your folio credit.

Also don't forget that tax is taken out as well (unlike if you used points).

Even though you won't see anything on your folio via the TV screen in your room, you can always go to the TR desk and ask for a printout of your room charges. Make sure to ask for that and not your folio, otherwise you'll get a $0.00 page unless you've charged more than the $50.
