Here are the back and front of two that I had left over from the weekend. I had seven when I ended my session at the bar. Gave five away and kept two just in case. One for each of us.

These are from the sports book bar.

I had five leftover tickets from Aria sports book when I left. Figured I'd include those as well.[IMG]

It's funny that the back says it's good for 180 days. It also doesn't say anything on the front or back about only being able to be redeemed by the person who earned it.

I think that's just on there because it's the same paper that actual TITOs are printed on

    Yeah that's probably true.

Any lawyers in the house care to tell us if that 180 day rule on the back is legally binding? :D

If the bartender mentioned who wasn't allowing it is who I'm thinking of, I've seen him be rude in many different ways and actively avoid being at the Chandelier when he's there.

Ha, it doesn't affirmatively say that it's valid for 180 days, it just says that it's void after 180 days. The front says "valid for two hours" and so that'd be controlling.

Thanks for the helpful answers. I guess I'm gonna try my luck and hope for a nice bartender.

Remember the final decision on most of these matters come down to what the bartender says...

Now I'm wondering if it's the guy I had a confrontation with last year...

I will say that the guy with the white helmet hair over at the Aria sports book bar (right next to Five50) is still an a-hole.

I don't quite get it either. I tip well... say please and thank you with a smile... and he's a straight-up a-hole.

They must be union, because there's no chance he keeps his job otherwise.

Is there a non-union Strip casino bar? Lol

I watched him be somewhat chummy with someone that might have been a reg one time. If you're a random tourist in his mind though, yeah, he doesn't give a fuck.

They may or may not count as "casino bars", but I believe Alibi is non-union. I don't know about other properties, but at Aria, you can tell by the uniforms -- the checkered shirt and vest combo is shared among all union floor bars. Some people are assigned more-or-less permanently to one bar, but others float, either as relief bartenders or on-call.

How do they get away with the unions in that kind of profession? It seems like you can always find people willing to pour drinks, so you wouldn't have to give in to a union, whereas certain skilled professions are much more likely to have the power

To be honest, in customer-facing positions like that, having an incentive to keep staff there is a great thing to me. Most of the guys I know at Aria have been there since opening. There are definitely reasons I've gone back to Aria so many times, and a big part is the staff. I have a feeling they wouldn't stay around if they were treated like interchangeable cogs and didn't have the union protecting them.

Bottom line, I agree anyone can pour drinks, but there's something to be said for allowing people to be true professionals at it, and make it a career. After all, there's a difference between just pouring drinks, and actually making cocktails.

Same. It's nice to know that the same bartenders in the same shifts will be at Cosmo when I go back.

Unless you want shit spilt on you, you certainly wouldn't want to hire me as a bartender!

    Completely agree.

It's awesome to see the same faces each trip.

It's also awesome when you get to know them and realize they're making good livings for themselves and their families in these customer service postions. Doesn't happen often in most cities. The union contracts have contributed to a lot of that.

I’m pretty sure you would torpedo the margins on beer, too!
