I sat at this machine when it was at $491 but decided to make a video when it had climbed to $498.21 to see how much it will cost to get it.

Thanks for posting this. I never chase these things because I never see them high enough. $498.21 is a solid chase though. Never seen one that close unoccupied though. Doh. You actually got a decent return before the major hit too. In 300 spins, you could have easily went 50% return or lower.

    And assuming it’s not linked.

True. I wouldn't dare on a linked unit. Most of these though are individual jackpots.

I always take a look at the WMS machines at the locals. Nothing like this yet.

It took about $170 to hit it. That was 300 spins betting $2.50 for a total of $700 in coin in. Made this video to show just how bad progressive chasing can be.

I actually started playing around $490ish a few dollars in. It took $300 to bring it up to that point so overall I was in it for close to $400. The incredible thing was 0 bonus in those 300 spins. Even bonus chasing can be rough!

Ya a linked one like quick hits would be too hard as it can be on any machine. These are all stand alone progressives.

I learned the hard way to never progressive chase. Thanks for doing this video then, it will remind me to never do it again lol

But at $498.21, you still gonna pass? ;)

If it's extremely close to $500, there are scenarios where you're guaranteed to be a winner. But I've never seen such an opportunity personally from casually walking by the meters. Hell i'm not even sure I've seen an open machine at $450+ yet. Lol

True! In this case yeah, I couldn't pass it up.

I guess it also depends on the machine too. Some move very very slowly while others move faster.

I remember chasing a Betty White one that was around $20 away. It cost me $500 in the end and only moved like $10 :angry:

I learned Betty White had a very high seed to start with the first trip I saw it. Every meter looked very close to the must hit amount at multiple casinos. Knew something was up. I still blew a bit trying it out.

Heck did the machine even last? Lol

I found with these Konami machines the sweet spot is between $360-$380. Once it hits $400 who the hell knows how high it will go.

You can measure the dollar amount it takes the meter to move a penny on these machines.

See what the meter is (let's say $49.50).

Play minimum bet until you see it move a penny(to $49.51).

Then, play $1.00 a spin and keep an eye on the meter while counting your spins until the meter moves another penny(to $49.52).

If it took 6 spins to move the meter a penny, it takes $6 in play to move the meter a penny. The dollar amount will be different depending on the payback each casino has the machine set at.

In the above example, while $498.21 looks like an attractive chase, it could still take a max of $1068 before the jackpot hits. Of course, it could take less too depending on the number it hits on.

I've only seen 2 actually hit One hit at $497.xx. The other one hit at $499.79.

If you figure out the meter movement, you have a much better idea if it's worth the chase.

The Aladdin machines are also easy to check for an advantage situation, depending on the number of letters lit in the "WILD" above each reel.

Lol good point about its status. My local took it away after two months. And I haven't seen it anywhere else. Thank goodness!

I’ve successfully chased 2 progressives before, one Konami, and one Aristocrat. I think all these machines move 1-Cent for every $5 coined in

See what I wrote above as far as progressive movement goes. The movement varies depending on what each casino sets the payback at.

I was under the impression that WMS “must hit by” progressives only move on winning spins, not on every single spin. Is it only Konami progressives that progress on every single spin?
