Have a quick trip into Chicago for a hockey game. I will likely only be in town 24 hours or so but will have 12 hours of free time. Any good casinos between O Hare and downtown Chicago. It looks like Rivers casino is close to Ohare. Is it any good? Size? I'll do a quick trip report if possible.

Rivers is definitely the closest to the city. It's a decent size, but it always seems busy to me. On a weekend night it's almost impossible to get a seat at any table whether it's BJ, poker, craps, roulette, etc. Table minimums are generally pretty high. Expect at least $25 BJ and $15+ craps

It's been a really long time since I've been there, so I can't comment on current slot selection.

The crowd can get a little rowdy in there too

Thanks Knight. I think that will likely be the choice just because its close. I would probably just slot. I wonder what the cocktail service and price is like.

Rivers is very convenient for you, it is about 10 min from my house. I love Rivers, think its a super cool casino. Agree with above comments about weekend crowds and minimums. I don't recall drink prices being outlandish, they have Peach Ciroc. I have had a ton of big wins at this place so I love it. Kinda fell out of my rotation as kids got busier and haven't been for a while, so can't say if they have kept it up, but as long as I was going it was by far the best option in the area for convenience and quality.

Thanks Beeejay. Not too worried about drink prices but also don't want to pay something crazy. If they were i would make sure i was pre loaded. It will be likely early morning saturday gambling so likely not that busy yet.

Illinois gambling is shit. Just know that going in to it. I have a write up on all the casinos in Chicagoland.

    https://sites.google.com/site/lvgrid/chicago

The state is limited on how many gaming positions they can have, so all the casinos are small. Rivers is the closest to your hotel. Its newer, but not much to look at. Most of their penny games are actually 2 cent machines. That way they force you to bet more if you play the MIN. And those machines are an ungodly 13% hold. 87% return. One of the worst in the country.

If you want a real gambling experience in a big house, the Horseshoe in Hammond Indiana is 15 miles and 25 minutes from the United Center (I assume you are hitting an NHL game). The odds suck there too, but at least its a real casino experience. Well, as real as you can get near downtown Chicago.

Yeah I mostly just played Boner Deluxe VP and they had 8/6 last time I went, which is better than anything I could find in vegas last trip. I have no clue on other games/rules.

I made an impromptu visit this summer. It's still nice, at least to me. One drawback is it's tiny because of dumb Illinois law limiting casinos to 1200 gaming spots.

The other as @Grid mentioned is that 2c is the minimum denomination on many slots.

Nickel multiline gimmick VP is pretty sparse too. More denominations like this in the VP area.
