As the title stated, I am curious to see if having a host at V/P would be beneficial for a new players there if you haven't yet put in any real play.

A little background, I have been a member of Club Grazie (or whatever it was called before) since about 2003 (or around there). However, I have never really put in any play there just bounced through on a few strip crawls. I got hooked on MGM and have pretty much concentrated my play there. Started "shopping" around last year and made Diamond 1 at CET and still Platinum at MGM.

With that said, I am going to be staying at Venetian in March for a work trade show and will probably put in more play this time around. I am not looking for free rooms, I already have that booked (actually, I have 5 rooms booked under my card) and the company is picking up the tab. Everything else will be a business expense.

Is there any advantage to reaching out to a host before the trip? or should I just wait until the trip is over and see if I can find a host to help me on the next one?

The big advantage I could see would be to try and secure the freeplay component of existing competitors offers - see if they are willing to match it! If it wasn't the company covering things, it may also have been motivating to see if they would at least offer a better casino/host rate on the rooms. The future offers will only be based off the THEO earned as you know, and any charges incurred could be reviewed after the trip, but the freeplay could be worth the contact in advance!

I notice at V/P they do have a listing of their hosts on their site so it would seem they are receptive to someone reaching out to them. Wouldn't hurt to try IMO!

Thanks for the reply. I also noticed the host listings. Any recommendations?

My personal host is Lauren Goldstein, I see she is not listed in the website. Her contact info is lauren.goldstein@sands.com and her auto signature shows her title as Player Development Executive. I will say she has always responded same day, has fulfilled all requests without error, leaves a snack tray in the room each trip, has offered casino rates to friends and set up reservations for them at my request, and completes my check out at end of stay- so far with all removable charges taken off. She will usually e-mail me while I'm on property to ensure my stay is going okay and just check in on me. I'm sure she may not be as high up on the ladder as others, but she is very responsive.

If you do reach out to one of the hosts, be sure to let us know if they were willing to do anything for you!

    Good luck!

Thanks again (I am seeing a trend here). I will reach out to her. I am big believer in personal references and I do believe the hosts take care of those people that send them new players. I have referred a few to my host at MGM and I know she appreciates it. Thanks.

Just wanted to give a quick update pre-trip. I did reach out to the host that VC mentioned and she was very responsive. (I love that).

A couple things came up. Since I had previously booked the rooms at Venetian, she could not match any of my other offers, specifically the FreePlay. She mentioned that if I had booked through her in the first place, she could have matched one of my FreePlay offers. I still find that odd that she couldn't do anything but good to know.

She was able to get moved to the Invited Guests Check-In which will be nice (I don't have any status at V/P at this point).

While she couldn't move me to Gold before this trip, she can review my play and move me to Gold for the next (if I didn't make it). I don't expect that to be a problem but good to know they have some latitude in that. Could not move me to Platinum if I made Gold, you have to earn that one.

I will update after the trip on any changes.

Great to hear that she's making efforts where she can. I really found her easy to work with!
I've heard before from other properties that reservations made directly through the hotel can't really be altered by hosts after the fact, so not too surprised on that one. I think the rooms are handled differently by the two departments (hotel reservations vs hosts) and they don't step on each others toes.

The reservations were made through Casino Marketing but I understood.

I fully understand the host couldn't offer you freeplay if you already made reservation.
Freeplay is a teaser to get you into their door, whether you are a new player or a returning player.
If you already made reservation, then it makes no sense to tease you, at least not this time.

Yes and no. The FreePlay would be a teaser to get me to play. At this point, I have no incentive to play there. I know I will but might not be as much as I might have. They will never know. I also have rooms at MGM, PHo and Wynn, so I have options.

I am a student of pphold. I always do double booking, triple booking, quadruple booking when I travel solo.

If you triple and quadruple book, do you spread your play thin? How does that affect your future offers?

I believe it does. But that's the least I am worried about in Vegas.
I am very cheap, and can live on just a little resort credit.
Most of the trips I only used 1/3 of my up-front resort credit and never asked for back-end comps.
The free-plays, well, I just gave them back to the house anyway. $100, $200 or $300, it didn't really make much difference.

I'm a newbie so please forgive me for any mistakes. I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask a question I have about my casino host but I've read from other reports that their casino host at the Venetian routinely picks up some if not all of their room charges but mine never has. A little background, I've been a gold club member for over 10 years (averaging about 30,000 - 40,000 points per trip)but only got a host about 4 years ago. For three years I had enough points to be a platinum member, but last year I only had two trips to LV and am back to a gold member this year. Before a host, when I transferred my accumulated points to free play at the end of a trip at the membership area would call and request that my hotel charges be taken care of and I don't remember ever asking for this. Most of the time they would take care of everything (normally not more than $300) and even threw in a restaurant voucher for lunch. A few times I've called my casino host before I left to see if she could take care of my room charges and I never got a call back and the charges were never taken care of so I stopped trying to check in with her before I left. I mostly communicate via email but I've never asked her about this after a trip. So I guess my question is do I have to keep asking the casino host to take care of the room charges or if she doesn't that means my play wasn't good enough? I'd appreciate any insight to this. Thank you.

I intend to reach out to see what happens. I received a generous May offer for a 3 night comped stay as a result of a uncompetitive. I was upgraded to a Furtuna suite

That host is now gone, you may want to check their website when you are ready to reach out or go to the host desk when on your trip!

    VC,

I reached out to a host, got redirected to a Branch Marketing Manager who was more than helpful with questions I posed as well as accommodating us with an early check in time. She also made it clear she was our first point of contact going forward regarding reviewing our play. Given that we have no track record, nor any real experience gaming at V/P I am delighted with the 3 night offer as well as the customer service she provided:)
