I think they may have removed it since they extended so many patrons' Platinum status due to the pandemic. Perhaps the extensions plus new patrons attaining Platinum would have overwhelmed the check in? Now they need to code you to use it to make sure you're a "real" platinum and not just riding on previous years' coattails. Just a guess.

Long time listener first time caller here

I went to Vegas a couple of months ago, didn’t stay at the cosmo but played a bit there, my coin in was pretty unimpressive at 15k or so but I did manage to lose almost 3k (2k cash in at $10 a pop and lost within 20 mins) plus lost another 2k at the tables. On the Tuesday after I came back I got a 4 night offer with no FP or FB, I didn’t have a host but emailed my friend’s host, she didn’t respond for over a week but another new host texted me saying he’ll be my host for my upcoming trip, so I asked about FP and he said he’ll do what he can. After a couple of days he said he can only get me $100, he applied for more but didn’t get approved, but he did code me VIP

    a few questions:
    1. Do all hosts need to get approval for comps or is it because my host is a new host? He’s been at cosmo for awhile and just got promoted to a host, he’s very responsive but I plan to play and stay only at the cosmo from now on (wife loves the at atmosphere) and don’t want my host to have to seek management approval for everything I get (I usually bring 2-3k per day I’m there so I do expect much better offers)
    2. My offer is only for terrace one bedroom, I am hoping for a fountain view, does being coded vip give me a better chance of getting a fountain view or should I ask my host?
    3. I plan to play the day of my checkout (late flight), when should I ask my host for a review? I never knew that was possible until I came to this forum!
    4. I play both slots and table equally while the wife is mostly tables, should I play slots on my card only and use the wife’s card for table? A friend told me that will give me the most points since cosmo grades the games separately, can someone confirm?

    thank you!

@Whensmytrip, welcome to the forum! I am sure there are others with more experience at Cosmo...but I think I can answer your questions based on my experience. I don't think hosts need approval for the comps. My best guess is this is because you don't have a history at Cosmo besides one stop by. When you have several trips, the hosts and Cosmo's system get a feel for your play. In the past, I have paid for the fountain view with the one bedroom. ($50 a night on a weekend). However, once my host noticed I liked the one bedroom fv, she just started booking it automatically. Definitely impacts my back end comps, but she knows my play. Ask for a late check out if your flight is late. You can reach out to your host prior to this trip and asks how / when he could evaluate your play. I know when my host works, and usually it is not when I check out. I always reach out after I am home. On the last trip, she actually took care of my backend comps the night before I checked out--so that was nice. I am afraid I can't give any advice on #4. I only play slots. But I do know Cosmo, like most casinos, rewards slots players. I hope this helps.

thanks Anna! how does it work if you get a review after checkout, do you pay for the charges and then the host refunds you?

I've gotten money returned to my CC after my host has reviewed my trip if it's after I'm checked out and gone

@Goldenknight is 100% correct. It takes a few days, but they refund the original "hold" and then there is just one charge from the front desk which is usually just tips in my case.

I know some people go to the host on duty. But, I feel like I have somewhat of a "relationship" with my host. As such, that is the person I want to evaluate my play. She seems to always do whatever she can on the back end. And if she can't, she let's me know that too!

Honestly I've never once gone to the host desk. Depending on the trip I've had as little as a couple hundred wiped to over $1,500

We just email our host and ask. If it’s his day to be on we will stop by and say hello just to be nice and get face time even if only 5 minutes. Ours is straightforward too and will politely tell us if our play doesn’t warrant any extra comps on top of what we came in on.

I have reservations to stay at the Cosmo from Oct 30 to Nov 2 City Room. I am paying for one night full price, and 2 Comp nights. During booking it did not give me the option for Terrace room. What are the chances I can get a Comp upgrade or a discount?

What are my options in asking for the upgrade to give me the best chances?

    Thanks

Did you check the website to see if those nights were even available in the room type you want? Halloween is a really busy night, so it's possible they're actually sold out of that room type.

If it's available though I'm sure you'd at least be be to do a paid upgrade. It's also possibpe you might just not have enough play to qualify for a comp room that expensive.

I'm there this weekend and a one bedroom terrace rack rate is showing as $800 for Saturday night!

Yes it is showing as available when I am looking at a paid booking. It just won't let me select the Terrace when I go through the offer, not even as a paid upgrade.

Cosmo's online system is set up to only show you rooms you can get comped for the dates you put in.

If you call the regular reservations line, they will quote you a price to upgrade in advance.

The upgrade price is usually (but not always) equal to the difference in the retail "Comsopolitan Rate" between the two room types. So it's usually not a discount on the upgrade itself, although you are getting your comp value applied against the total price.

The chances you can get a comp upgrade in advance are pretty much zero; you can try a "$20 trick" type of thing at check-in if you want. You can also ask for an upgrade quote at check-in, you might be able to get a little discount over the retail diff in that situation if it's a slow period.

Come on... who doesn't like walking in to see a Fiji and a glass on either side next to the bed with slippers and an eye mask ready to go?

When I somehow lucked into a Lanai Suite at Cosmo we got a chocolate bar each day. I guess that’ll do.

They don't leave those chocolates on the bed during turn down service though. :)
