Evening All,

We're shortly off on our 14th trip to the States and the dreaded 13th trip to Vegas. We arrive in town on 28 March for three days, take a cheeky reconnaissance week in our new home town of Phoenix, Arizona (effective July 2016), and return back to Vegas for three more days.

There's a whole load to do this trip but the majority of that is about finding a place to stay, a thing to drive, places to shop and things to do in phoenix so Vegas at either end will be a nice time to unwind and get a bit of slotting in. Having had a crack at the local casinos in Arizona last summer, we were relatively unimpressed but we have committed to giving them another go.

We've been given our best ever MILF offers at Excalibur and Monte Carlo for both parts of the Vegas trip and we're giving Uber and Airbnb a shot to support the "real folk takeover". The plan is to put another 20,000 points toward our gold card status before having a good ol' crack at Platinum next year. The budget, having realised that there are many more important things coming up to spend money on, is only $4,200 but we'll bring a wee chunk of funny Scottish money to switch should we need it.

Our ode to Vegas, 10 years in the making is below. We had a lot of fun getting it perfectly to the music and it finally got finished.

    <iframe width="420" height="315" src="" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

    Cheers,

    Billy and Moyra

    Evening All,

Finally here. Shattered after 48 hours of being on the go. Left the lovely folks of Atlanta on schedule

    C5F06E3F-5B50-4C5C-B436-78FED1043D37.jpg

And, thanks to a cheeky tailwind, arrived in Vegas a few minutes early.

    4D719BAD-69D1-44A6-B229-2193BC82BB34.jpg

We gave uber a shot. First effort was aborted as I thought it would be a case of agreeing a price then ordering but it ordered straight away and we hadn't gotten the bags. The whole system might be easier with a cell signal as, out of the airport, we waited 15 minutes, popped back in to find the driver had cancelled on us, ordered a third which came within a couple of minutes and away we went. Considerably cheaper than a taxi at $12 and even more so thanks to the lovely Evoni who provided a referral code for $10 off.

Checked in no problem. Despite the fatigue setting in, we had to have at least a wee shot! We took $100 of the $500 budget and $200 for a max betting shot on either buffalo gold or Pompeii. As is ordinarily the case, we turned our $100 into an eerily predictable $85 thanks to Friends, Grease, Ted (who still had his fun, wee bugger that he is!) and Lobstermania

    4AB4C537-B82E-4C58-A2D8-EE6E149051F1.jpg

The max betting effort was going to be buffalo gold until we discovered the empty third was out of order. We played Pompeii and things went particularly well, much to the annoyance of wicked winnings matey who lost $45 and skulked away! We were up over $500 at one point but made the rules of combat up as we went along, cashing out eventually at $400.

A very decent start then, $300 in, $485 out. Of that $85, $55 was mine and Moyra, having been soundly beaten at Christmas, already trailing behind on $30!

    Cheers,

    Billy

Billy and Moyra, glad you arrived safely. Sorry for the glitch with Uber. I'm glad the gambling is off to a good start! LOL on Moyra trailing behind, it's early days and that can swiftly change. ;)

    Day 2

    Hi everyone,

Hopefully I'm not speaking too soon, but we weren't hit with the jet lag today - managed to sleep until a reasonable hour this morning! Edit: Totally spoke too soon - up and about at 2am! - Billy

After Billy spent some time phoning up potential sponsor organisations (last bit that needs sorted before the visa application becomes official!) we headed out for our day of M life shots. I got another third degree about our money (the cashiers frown upon asking for $700 in 5 dollar bills all at once - even though it's the same man that has been dealing with my request for the past few years, you think he'd understand the system by now!!). We went to Luxor first, stopping in for a lucky Krispy Kreme on the way only to be told that the original glazed delivery wasn't due in for another 20 minutes - an ominous sign I thought!

Nothing really to shout about from the Luxor today - we both got fish bonuses on original goldfish ($10 for me from the kissing clownfish and $5 for Billy from the pink fish that spits out numbers), Billy went on to get $20 from line wins on Spartacus, $5 from a random flappy tongue bonus on Rolling Stones and $15 from the safe bonus and a random drawing bonus on titanic. My only other win was $15 from Noah's ark from loads of hippos! Where there was nothing to report on the gambling front, Billy was delighted with the cocktail waitress - she didn't just ask for our ID but didn't believe Billy was 34 and thought he could pass for 21 as he has "a baby face" (at this point he decided to double her tip), me, I look older (at this point I thought she should get no tip!)!

Mandalay bay was next up, which again, was reasonable. I got $35 from some pirate line wins on shake your booty and $5 from the mirror bonus on hexbreaker (I tried lil red again but was swiftly reminded why I hate the colossal reel games!). Billy got $10 from an expanding Bruce lee wild on the Bruce lee machine, $10 from random bonuses on Michael Jackson (he says it could've been better, one of the bonuses gave him wild reels on 2 and 4 but he got nothing from it, I won't be playing him again, I got a first spin bonus and all it gave me was 200 credits which it swiftly stole! He has earned himself a position on the list with wizard of oz!), $5 from line wins on hexbreaker and $15 from 4 reels of diamonds (could've been a full screen but the lot on reel 5 whirred past!) on fire hunter.

Since it was fair and the sun was out we thought we'd take a nice stroll up to bellagio for our next shot. This is now two trips running where I go outside in Vegas and it's cold! It's weird! And more annoyingly, all I've packed is summer stuff! If we'd been here last week it was a good 10 degrees warmer! Oh well, the shops beckon I think (I honestly did leave Scotland thinking shopping would be kept to a minimum this time, but hey ho! The school district also want to meet me next week, but I only bought one work outfit with me, it's almost like I'm being forced to shop!).

After a hazelnut milkshake, I got off to a great start in bellagio. I got the goblet bonus where you get a choice of 2 to choose from and you keep going until you get the skull - the left side served me well, I ended up with $60! Not sure I could've done any better on it! I then got $5 from whale song and the whales of cash bonuses (these were my first three shots - nothing from the rest!). Billy's only win was from 3 reels of lions on king of Africa (which he lurked me on!).

Aria was next and was the worst so far. I got $10 from line wins on goldfish 3 and $15 from the bonus on bier haus and Billy got $10 from miss red. $35 back from our $100 - that won't buy me much!

We stopped for dinner after that where we are trying to get through $200 resort credit (can use some tomorrow as well). We opted for diablos, somewhere we've always fancied trying but never got round to. Think it'll be our first and last trip! It was ok, but nothing special. One normal sized burrito for Billy and a mountain of nachos for me! It probably didn't look like I even tried to eat any of them judging by the plateful I had to send back! They really should warn me when I order something that's such a huge portion! $70 down, $130 to try and spend tomorrow!

We got off to a very slow start in Monte Carlo, 3 shots in before I got $5 from the totally puzzled bonus. I then got $15 from the money to burn bonus and $30 from line wins on snow globes. Billy lurked me on cheese caper and got the heist bonus where he won $35 (he did the same on our last trip too!), he then got $40 from the picture and free spin bonuses on Tina and then $5 from line wins on gorilla chief.

We didn't think we could get worse than aria, but we were wrong - New York New York hammered us! Billy got $5 from line wins on jackpot party and airplane and I lurked him on super sally shrimpmania for $10 from the bonus. We certainly won't be back before heading to Phoenix!

Our last shot was in Excalibur, which again, wasn't good to us. I got $10 from an Austin powers bonus and $30 from line wins on friends. Billy got $5 from the bonus on jeannie and $15 from line wins on walking dead. We also gambled $200 from our bottle fund on buffalo grand. Unfortunately, it didn't go as well as Pompeii last night! It only returned $75 - not a bonus in sight! No full screen of Buffaloes either!

Excluding our mad $200, we gambled $700 and came away with $485, $260 of which was mine and $225 was Billy's. Thanks to my last win of the day on friends, I have taken a $10 lead over Billy - $290 vs his $280!!

We plan on hitting the gym in the morning before having a shot in monopoly corner in Venetian, a wee shot in palazzo and then more M life places on the way back down. No idea where we're going to spend $120 on food! As ever, we'll keep you posted!

I really don't like Gold Fish 3. Why did you opt to play that instead of the new Gold Fish Deluxe? The new one comes the closest to being like the original in my opinion plus there's the option for the big pay off at the end of any bonus on any amount of bet if a Gold Fish pops out of the bubble. :)

What casino did you guys find the Airplane slot at?

That was a good win on Texas Tina. Loving all the photos, good luck tomorrow!

    Morning All,

Yesterday started with the usual sponsorship chase and a flurry of emails between us and the immigration lawyer. Things are moving in the right direction there and we've said to him that we'll need a sponsor locked down by Monday, April 11th at the very latest. We have 4 potential sponsors, all charging the earth despite it not being at all clear what any of them do for us beyond taking a form and ticking a box every so often.

We decided that, outside MILF properties, we'd perhaps have a wee shot here and there (a half shot of $50 between us) until we secure the gold membership again. My hope for this holiday was to hit 60,000 points by the time we head back to Scotland which leaves us able to get to 70,000 pretty easily when we first get over in mid-July. As it stands just now, we're at 55,000 points.

We started yesterday at the Tropicana - which must be suffering financially as they've gotten rid of their coconut smell that I liked being pumped into the casino. Unfortunately, it seemed that it was slot maintenance morning as a majority of machines were in the process of being moved, fiddled with or hoovered. Moyra did manage small wins on Ted (proper Texas Ted, not that stupid wee bear thing that has appeared), Munsters ($10) and Valhalla ($15) whilst I got $20 from Alien thanks to some scatter cats. $50 in, $60 out and Moyra joked that we should "retire up for the day" - unfortunately quite prescient. We did see the massive new Big Bang Theory slots which look boring as sin to play but seem to give regular bonuses.

On we toddled to MGM Grand where we got some Killers tickets sorted. The boy was less than helpful when it came to how to beat the scalping bastards who grab all the tickets then punt them hugely above face value. No matter, things there are moving in the right direction as the tickets were going for $375 each when we first looked and are today available for $189 each. Come what may, I think that we'll need to pony up whatever is being asked in the next few days as we've always wanted to see Guns n Roses and there's likely no better time than their first reunion gig in more than 20 years.

We started very badly in MGM Grand, losing on the new I Dream of Jeannie slots, Big Rex, Red Phoenix, Moolah, Crystal Forest and Voodoo Brew. We both got decent enough line hits on Ghostbusters to at least not lose anything (Moyra won $5, I got $10) before losing again on Wonka and Superman. We did spy a Game of Thrones machine but, after initially deciding against the big vicarious gamble for Moyra's auntie Anne as we were doing so badly, gave it a go. Having managed to turn her $50 into $255 at Christmas on Sons of Anarchy, the pressure was on to do something decent with the reinvested $100. At $5 a spin, there wasn't much room for error but we did thankfully get a bonus on the top game which let us pick all five on the progressive hunt for $150 (just as well as the progressive was the last pick of the 5). Anne's money doubled, we swiftly returned to our losing ways, getting beat on Ted, Super Cherry, Lobstermania, Frog Prince and Friends, winning only on Mystical Mermaids for $5 and Money Blast for $20. Altogether, Game of Thrones saved us here as we gambled $200 and came away with $240.

After a quick scout of the Coke shop, the only place Moyra has bought something every trip - our first ever trip in 2003, we were so tight for money as poor students that we said we'd only get a Coke t-shirt if we won enough on the gambling (and then toiled for that $17 or so!) - we wandered up to Palazzo for a wee shot. Despite it not being decent weather, the Strip was about as busy as we've seen it. Palazzo started very badly as Moyra's go to guaranteed win machine, Dukes of Hazzard, let her down, as did the new Slomer gone Wild Ghostbusters and Star Trek. I lurked her for two awful bonuses and $10 on Outback Jack and, just as we were decrying the idea of venturing away from MILFs, Moyra got a first spin random bonus on Monster Jackpots which spewed nearly a full screen of wilds for $70 - the short video captures the high pitched yelps of delight that characterise her slot play - she lives and dies with every spin! $50 in, $80 out.

Next door at Venetian, we both lost on Bonnie and Clyde, I won $5 from Wonka after lurking Moyra again and Monopoly Corner proved fruitful. Moyra won $10 on Planet Go whilst I picked the best limo on Viva for $25. Short and sweet, we played $50 and won $40. Already quite impressed that no casino today had beaten us to $0.

We hit Mirage next where things started pretty well. I won $10 on Wheel of Fortune, Moyra had the worst of times of Friends as she couldn't get on the left hand machine (the superstitions are growing on a daily basis), lost on her machine and, despite hexing away, seen the woman on "her" machine hit the wedding bonus just as we were going away. She cheered up at the dollar Big Bang Theory where we teamed up to have a $10 shot at $3 a spin. Thankfully, the bonus came on the second spin for $30 although I still maintain it's properly boring to play. I won $10 on Van Helsing and Moyra lurked me for $10 on Pelican Pays. Moyra won $10 from a new favourite, Pirate Ship and we both won on Wonder Woman (Moura $5 and $20 for me). From our $100 played, we won $95.

Having had a fairly grand day of it then, we made the mistake of stopping the gambling and headed to the Bellagio Buffet for dinner. I wasn't particularly impressed the first time we visited it and it wasn't a whole lot better this time - we've agreed that this resort credit isn't all the fun of the fair as we'd have had a much better time of it at Ellis Island and Fatburger. The buffet was alright - certainly a million miles better than the bland as the day is long Diablo's.

First off the bat after dinner was the third of six big $200 max betting gambles. The first two, courtesy of Michelle, went pretty well, returning $500 from the $400 gambled. Moyra picked "her" Friends machine, the left hand side one facing out toward the shops, and, despite squalling for the bonus every time, only managed to get it right at the end of her play and even then, managed to land on bamboozle for a disappointing $15. From that $200 gambled, she won $95...and then things started to go downhill. From our normal play $100 ($5 a machine at somewhere between 40c-75c a spin), we lost on nearly everything (Rolling Stones, Dragon's Fire, Cirque du Masquerade, Robin Hood, Wicked Winnings 3 and Queen of Cash to name a few culprits). Moyra did win $5 each from Rich Girl and Pirate Ship and I won $10 despite being eaten by a T-Rex, on Jurassic Park. $300 in and $115 out - poor show Bellagio...I blame Moyra for criticising the spring display in the conservatory!

Next up was Cosmo which facilitated a bit more losing. I did win $10 from the angry Mexican on Chilli Chilli Fire and Moyra got $5 from Skns of Anarchy before we lost at everything else until my last shot on a Red Rooster which paid $15. $50 in, $30 out so we at least "avoided the granny", a phrase likely lost on anyone other than the Scottish.

Monte Carlo is normally pretty good to us but there was no stopping the bad after dinner run we were on. Moyra got $15 from original Winning Bid and the same from Totally Puzzled whilst I scraped $5 wins from rubbish bonuses on Slotsky and Dakota Thunder. $100 in and $40 out but nearly done for the day.

Excalibur was the last play of the day. Not having seen any high limit options, I decided to max bet the $100 freeplay on Larry's Lobstermania. I was properly scuppered by a dodgy looking guy and his dodgy looking wife who deemed it appropriate to play through a dollar at 2 lines x 3. the wife was worse! playing 1x1 on Kenny Rogers but that wasn't as upsetting to me as K hadn't planned on playing that. This is the kind of slot etiquette that the death penalty should be reintroduced for! I opted instead for Jewel of the Dragon which gave me a decent bonus quite quickly for $80. I then moved to play the remainder on Sea Goddess which churned through the freeplay for an eventual win of $40. Those were definitely the high points as we lost on very nearly everything else with our normal play, our $100 payong back a measly $5 from a line hit on Cops n Donuts. The freeplay saved the day then, $100 in and $145 out.

All said and done for the first visit to Vegas this holiday, we gambled $2,090 for a return of $1,890 (90%) and had a lot of fun doing it. More importantly, I'm back in the lead at $625 to Moyra's $590. Whilst not convinced about the resort credit notion, we'll have a better go at it when we're back next week. In the meantime, it's off to scout out the new home town of Phoenix. Our plan is to hit at least one casino every day of our Phoenix trip for a $100 shot but we've got a massive list to check off so that might yet not come to fruition. Moyra is having her first shot of driving in America today so that will likely be an experience (admittedly, I did spend a brief moment driving into traffic on my first shot! So she can't do much worse).

    Cheers,

    Billy

    Hi pphold,

We did attempt a Viva Las Vegas one if memory serves but gave up on it halfway through the edit. Now that we know what we're doing with them, more or less, and in that we'll be much more regular visitors to Vegas, we'll definitely look at doing more of these. The photo scavenger hunt was great fun.

    Cheers,

    Billy
