Call me a Vegas nerd with nothing better to do on a Sunday afternoon while watching football. Call me a Cosmo fanatic fresh off of another great trip. Either way, I know that many of us here on VF frequently comment on specific bartops at Chandelier or the Sports Bar, or maybe at home we're trying to remember exactly how many SuperStars are at each bar and where they're located. So, taking some notes I jotted down on my phone during my trip last week, I've put together a drawing of the bartop machine layouts at Chandelier north, Chandelier south, and the Sports Bar.

This is something I put together in Excel, so it's very basic, not to scale, and as you'll see I didn't account for the curvature of the Chandelier bars. Still, the basic information is there, including machine type, machine number, and I also added a red line for bartops that, as of my trip last week, were closed due to current occupancy restrictions. Some of my notes may or may not have been taken after a few drinks, so if anyone notices any errors just let me know and I can correct the drawings. Actually, I have some conflicting information in my notes about machine 599-09 at Chandelier south. I'm pretty sure it's a Game King and noted it as such, but maybe someone recalls that particular seat on the left end of the bar and can confirm.

I was going to post a PDF version, but it doesn't look like PDFs can be uploaded attached to messages, so I've included images below (which, unfortunately, lost some resolution and became a little fuzzy after the upload). This was something that I've been meaning to do for a while just for fun and for my own reference, but since I finally got around to it, I thought I'd share it with other Cosmo fanatics here on the message board.

So, which bartop is your lucky machine? I think many of us would agree that 599-07 at Chandelier north has been a very lucky machine!

This is great! I haven’t spent tons of time at Cosmo, so I’m not exactly sure which is C. north, South, 1 1/2, etc, When I meet up with other VFs, this will help.

The gf has gotten handpays at the sportsbook on 17, 18 or 19. We usually go for the corner though where we can get two Super Star next to each other.

Are the Super Star machines better in some way? What makes them more desirable?

For the lucky machines, are they just lucky? Or are the payouts different than the others?

The super star machines have some games not available on game kings such as Super Times Pay, Extra Draw Fenzy, and Ultimate X. As far as I’m aware at the sports book at least, given the same denomination and same game the paytables are all the same. It’s all about where you “feel” lucky. You’re just as likely to catch a good hand on one machine versus another.

So DSTP is the additional credits you pay and it's an add-on for whatever base video poker game: like Jacks or Better, Double Bonus, etc. Pretty cool. I know what to do.

So how come vpfree2.com doesn't mention any of this?

    Doesn’t mention what?

Also they only track the best of the best paytables at a given property. The bar tops outside of high limit at Cosmo don’t come close to being worth mentioning for them. So the typical vpfree2 person isn’t concerned with sports book bar or chandelier bar.

The DSTP stuff adds about 0.5 to the EV for each game. But vpfree2.com only shows the base EV. For certain players, that 0.5 is the difference between whether they will or will not play that machine. They also don't mention nickel DSTP either.

Maybe you're trying to say that the pay tables for the bar top machines are worse then the rest of the casino? And then maybe the 0.5 doesn't push the bar top expected value over 1.00? Is that so?

The pay tables at the bar tops are not good enough for the boost from STP or DSTP even with players clubs that makes it worthy of vpfree2. Not even close. The one “decent” pay table at the bar top is $5 double double bonus. But is single line. The super times pay usually bumps down a notch or two on the Full House and Flush.

Without promos, the players club is worth 0.16%. And most of the games there are usually around 97% return.

There’s a couple machines right outside of Clique and the slot high limit that has decent games at low denom. The 100 and 50 play machines are decent. But no supertimes with those pay tables.

Okay, thanks for the explanation. For a little while I was thinking that DSTP would push Jacks or Better (99.54) over 100.0. Add in the 0.16 for the players club. Then add in all the free drinks at the bar. Then if you get to 20,0000 Identify point, no resort fees. For a little while it seemed like a good deal to me.

If 9/6 job were available it’d still be short of 100%. STP is a 0.3% bump. With the Cosmo players club it’d be just tenths of a point below 100%. Double Super is 100.05 before players clubs. But good luck ever finding that. If you did it’d likely either not accumulate points/comps or be for such low stakes it’d be hard to get anything worth your time out of it. A place South Point would be the place that’d have it. But I can’t speak for that.
